Doom Slayers back story is entirely based off of the "Dont make a deal with Devil" addage. He made a deal with the Devil which severely backfired on Slayer which made him so unbelievably pissed off he was granted the power of the gods and went down to Hell to fuck up Satan. Multiple times.

@@raptorcell6633 Doom Slayer isn't the Betrayer since Doom Slayer was incorruptible that's why hes able to just live in hell cracking skulls. (Source: DEMIGOD from the soundtrack) The Betrayer brought ruin to the wraiths in exchange for his sons resurrection but in turn brought on his planes version of the Icon of Sin. So it still proves your statement, just wrong character. Doom Slayer would probably rip the tongue out of a demon trying to make a deal and then strangle it with the removed appendage.

I just read the review. They never say the music is bad. Actually, they don't mention the music at all, which is a shame. Not really defending the review since it reads like they were going to score a 6 or 7 at best, and then they score an 8.5, which sounds fine but don't reflect the text at all, so it totally is a bad review. Still, to claim that they say the music is shit is absolutely false. Here is it if you want to check it out: www.polygon.com/2016/5/18/11706108/doom-review-PC-xbox-one-PS4

Guys, here's my argument in regard to game reviewers' skill: my left hand is so neurologically jacked up that I have to sit the controller down sideways next to me and just play with my right hand by using my thumb for the face buttons and right stick, my index finger for the left stick and d-pad, my middle finger for the left shoulder buttons and my damn pinky for right shoulder buttons. Some video game reviewers have openly admitted to not liking playing video games. Some will say it isn't fun when it is a job. Some don't get to pick what they review, and get stuck with genres they dislike or aren't good at. Others are just really awful in general. Dean Takahashi, the person with the infamous Cuphead review, had been roasted in the past for embarrassments such as his Mass Effect review as well as statements about KOTOR. Then there are the classics like the reviewers who get so much basic information wrong that the question isn't whether they are awful, but instead whether they even played the game at all. Not to long ago we had a guy who arguably wasn't even writing his reviews; Filip Miucin had so many plagiarism claims laid against him that IGN felt it would be safer to just remove everything he'd ever written for them. And in recent years we've had another twist to the formula, writers who see writing about a video game not as an end goal, but just as a tool for promoting some tangential message or agenda. (I don't mean just social justice stuff; you see this with other things as well.)

@BainesMkII

@@mpw26 Yeah, IGN "updated" the review to brush it off like it was some minor error. Which itself isn't a new tactic. I remember years ago when Gamespot "reviewed" Samurai Warriors 3. It was a basic review; the actual game parts read like someone reciting the "new features" list he found online. The truly damning part was the historical background part; the reviewer had clearly just looked up "Warring States" on Google or Wikipedia, and didn't realize that he'd picked the wrong war in the wrong country in the wrong millennia. A detail that *anyone* who played the game would catch, that anyone who even looked at the back of the box should catch, and that most should have caught by looking at the name of the game. The review got completely roasted in comments, so Gamespot just silently corrected the text and wiped the user comments.

I feel like they need some level of ability to play video games to review them accurately. The argument about not having to be a director to review a film is honestly shit, because you still need to understand how a film works and what makes it good. ya can't know what makes a videogame good if you legitimately can't play it, it's like reviewing a movie without watching it really, or reviewing food without eating it.

On the one hand, an important part of a game bring good is your ability to pick it up and start enjoying it pretty quickly and not feel like you're fighting the controls to do what you want. Especially a game like Doom, you should start to be able to feel like a badass within the first 15 minutes, not the ultimate badass, but badass enough to kill a bunch of hell spawn in space. That being said though, for a professional game review, the reviewer has to be competent enough to get through the game to see if it keeps out bills momentum, gets repetitive, etc. The analogue of reviewing a film didn't require you to be a filmmaker would translate to you don't have to be a developer to review games, which is also very true. Also, my girlfriend started getting back into gaming since I updated my PC, and she only uses a controller and never played any modern FPS titles, and she was doing better than that within the first few minutes of RE7. I know it's not as intense, and she was far from good at adding and moving, but she at least understood what to do just didn't have the reflexes yet to actually center a shot, but she could run around pretty damn well. And coming from mouse and keyboard is no excuse because it's the same hands for the same functions. I had issues retraining myself on a controller after only playing on mouse/keyboard then not playing at all for about a year or so, but it didn't take long to figure out what to do, it just took time to git gud and not overcompensate on the analog stick.

Guns feel heavy, movement feels awkward and bullets feel ineffective, but all of that is entirely by design. Survival in the Metro world isn’t supposed to be a walk in the park. Even with thumbstick sensitivity ramped all the way up to the top of the sliders, it still feels like Artyom is covered in a nuclear treacle. When being pursued by some ghouls through a warehouse, climbing scaffold in an attempt to get to the safety of the rooftops, I fell off a couple of times because I couldn’t turn fast enough or with enough precision. And, although a stealthy approach is recommended, I found it way too easy to rush down a pack of bandits and use the melee kill attack right in front of them, because the AI just didn’t cope with the rush-in strategy!"

*MY FAN THEORY ABOUT THE UPCOMING GAME, DOOM Eternal* THE THEORY: The Doomslayer in DOOM Eternal is NOT the same Doomslayer from DOOM (2016) THE THEORY EXPLAINED: We may not yet know what exactly became of our beloved Slayer after the cliffhanger ending in Doom'16, however, we might be able to unravel the aftermath and predict what we might expect to see in the upcoming sequel. I feel there is a STRONG possibility that the original Doomslayer from Doom'16 was somehow forcefully mutated into the very thing he hates most, a demon of Hell. This demon's name was revealed to be: "The Corrupted Marauder". (Stay with me, it will start to make sense.) During the official gameplay reveal, the presenters briefly showed us an image (PICTURE BELOW) of a tall demon who JUST SO HAPPENED to be wearing a set of armor that is in many ways EXTREMELY similar to the armor warn by the Slayer in Doom'16. The folks presenting the gameplay footage even said something like, "See that suit? It's part of the story." Obviously hinting that this character plays, at the very least, a key role in the story being told. Speaking of clues, it's also worth noting that the Marauder is carrying an exact model of the original super shotgun used by the Doomslayer in Doom'16. Coincidence? Or is it the very same shotgun? Okay, so I think the reason why the armor looks so similar to Doomslayer's original armor is simply because IT ACTUALLY IS THE SAME ARMOR! I believe it's possible that the Doomslayer was mutated and made into a demon( i.e... CORRUPTION). Obviously this would have to be done against his will. But keep in mind Samuel knew the Slayer would kill him as soon as he had the chance. Samuel Hayden is very intelligent, perhaps more intelligent than the slayer in many respects. It could be that Hayden lured him into a trap in order to be rid of him for good. I could see Hayden sending the Slayer off into a corner of Hell from which there was seemingly no escape which could have led to the eventual corruption of his body, soul, and yes, his armor. Sounds silly to say armor can mutate, but this isn't regular armor by any means. It is, in all regards, connected to the Slayer. The lore in Doom'16 more or less implies that the Doomslayer's armor CANNOT be activated by anyone but the Slayer himself! He is the only one capable of dawning it, yet we see this demon (known as the Corrupted Marauder) not only wearing ridiculously similar armor, but we also see that the orange/red light on his chest is glowing and functional, which tells us the suit IS activated and it's not just scrap armor that some demon strapped to himself. And the fact that the suit is clearly operational could very well be an intentional clue for us to discover and thus realize that the Corrupted Marauder is actually our original Doomslayer! I mean, even the Marauder's own name implies CORRUPTION, which points to the likely possibility that the Marauder was not always "corrupt/mutated/evil". He was once something/someone else. Now, it may sound impossible that the Slayer could ever be made into a chaotic beast of the realm we know as Hell. But remember that many demons were once human. It would take A LOT more to transform the Slayer into a servant of darkness, but he is still somewhat human, and all humans are flawed no matter how strong-willed. Never say never. Okay, so IF the Doomslayer from 2016 really is a demon, then who could possibly be the Slayer in Eternal??? My theory to that is this: The Doomslayer in DOOM Eternal is none other than........ the 2ND PLAYER FROM DOOM 1 AND 2 !!!........ Alright I know how that might sound, but think about this: You may recall that it was entirely possible to play through both games with TWO Doomguys (now known as Doomslayers). And seriously, how cool would it be if the devs decided to include Player 2 as an official part of the modern lore?! And now picture this in your mind: Samuel Hayden thinks that he has rid himself of Doomslayer's tyranny, only to be confronted by another Doomslayer that no one remembered or even knew existed. The legends only spoke of one Slayer. No one knew where the other one was, but when Hell is unleashed upon Earth... this is when he reveals himself. He then discovers the fate of his brother-in-arms (Player 1). Our new Slayer then hunts down Hayden and murders him for all he had done. After Hayden is dead, our new Slayer takes the glowing red demon sword and picks up where his lost brother left off. Maybe he even tries to seek out his brother, only to discover the Corrupted Maruader. Alright, now If I'm at all correct, (and honestly I think there might be some actual truth in this) then this would completely explain why the Slayer swapped armor between Doom'16 and the upcoming Doom Eternal. It was NEVER really the armor that got swapped out at all. The only thing getting swapped out is the Slayer !!! In a nutshell, The Slayer we once knew in 2016 became the Corrupted Marauder and now it's up to the lesser known Slayer to pick up the slack. We theoretically enter the game as a different Slayer with his very own unique set of ancient power armor. Judging by the gameplay, he might actually be angrier than the original slayer as well, thus making him the most dangerous of the two despite being the least famous by far. And if any of this turns out to be true, you better be prepared to face your fallen comrade (Player 1 Doomslayer/The Corrupted Marauder) in what will probably be one of the hardest boss fights in the game. UPDATE: Also note that the Doomslayer in Eternal clearly has a totally different helmet, yet it bares the same marking he received from the Seraphim. Are we to assume that the Seraphim gave the Slayer multiple sets of armor with the same marking? Unlikely. The lore mentions only one set of ancient armor. I believe that Eternal is actually teasing a different Slayer who also receieved power from a seraphim and was bestowed his own set of ancient Praetor armor. Perhaps it will turn out that there are multiple slayers. It might even be a safe assumption to say that God himself sent the Seraphim out to recruit the angriest and strongest warriors to be turned into His personal demon slayers for all time. The Corrupted Marauder seen here: www.reddit.com/r/Doom/comments/96bd0p/really_excited_about_the_marauder_especially/ HELMET COMPARISONS here: i.ytimg.com/vi/f1osBaT7CYk/maxresdefault.jpg

@Ragnar OK so I think you're just pointing out the correct name of the Metallica song. But that has nothing to do with with my comments because it still sounds like Metallica "sampled" the Doom music rather than it actually being the other way around.

Metallica wrote and released master of puppets and no remorse far before doom came out. The doom sound track was heavily inspired by the thrash metal artists of the time and a big influence was metallica.
