Victor Taylor You can’t love the person. I respect your right to your religious views but don’t lie and say you love the person but not the fact that they are gay (please note I do not believe in sin) because being gay is a part of them and who they are. What you really love is the idea of who/what you think they should be, but that’s not loving someone. Loving someone is accepting them regardless of your own personal convictions and realising that they have their own moral standards that may not be completely in line with yours and accepting and loving them anyway.

@@urkindacyoot47 he most likely wouldn't have. People like to think of jesus in their own way without really reading the full context of what he taught. Jesus didnt teach to just be nice to people. He taught that people should turn away from the lifestyle that the bible deems as sinful, and that will cause people to be restricted from entering heaven. For example, mary magdalene committed adultery. Jesus did not just "hang out" with her and support whatever she was doing, he taught her to leave her adulterous ways and walk a ritious path. He did the same with all of his disciples. Jesus would not do anything to encourage someone to live a lifestyle that will cause them to be rejected from entering heaven. The bible states that homosexuals and sexual immoral cannot enter heaven, so therefore, he most likely would've did the same as this man did here. Jesus taught that real "love" is make every effort to guide a soul to the kingdom of heaven by helping them repent. Therefore, Jesus most likely would not have made a cake or (definitely wouldn't have participated) for a ceremony that was made for the purpose of celebrating a lifestyle that will lead souls to hell instead of heaven. Jesus did not go around telling thieves and prostitutes that he supports them and they should just go on being themselves. He taught them to change themselves to resemble God's image. It's understandable why many think of jesus as some all supporting man, but that is because many churches give their own idealistic description of who they think he was. Also people just read or have common knowledge of certain quotes of his or actions, and pick and choose why they want to like him, but dont grasp the full context of what he taught. There are incidences in the bible where it even would seem like jesus was being straight up mean, or even racist, but it was for a certain important lesson to his disciples. In other words, people preach their own version of jesus, not the jesus that is described in full contact of the bible.

Everyone judges every day. The gay couple are judging the baker, these women are judging the baker, We in the comments section are judging each other. it's human nature to weigh up and compare and analyise and make decisions on every situation. @@mylifepostpain3705 The cake artist may choose to create or not create whatever he decides ;you seem to misunderstand the very crux of the matter.He *never* refused to serve them,he refused to create *art* for their wedding.They were welcome to all else he had and he'd gladly sell whatever they wished,just not create art. My sig other is a photographer and following your line of thought, he would be *forced* to use his artistry to take photos for a gay wedding,which *violates* his 1st amendment rights, which are: Congress is prohibited from making any law respecting an establishment of religion *including atheism/satanism*, impeding the free exercise of religion and abridging the freedom of speech et al. Forcing to make someone do anything against their religion's clearly covered here,for example If you were *forced* to pray out loud or create art for christian beliefs with Jesus in it, etc. Then "your' rights would be violated. One thing not mentioned is the *type* of service rendered, for example if you called a christian plumber and he refused to fix a gay couples' sink, then that *would* be discrimination as everyone gets the same service and that goes for hotels, restaurants,heating/cooling work, exterminators, etc. The *reason* this case is a huge issue is because it's *not* about mere service, it's about the government *forcing* someone to use their artistic ability,ie create art that goes against everything they hold dear and if he can be forced, then so could I, you, or anyone else. Which brings me to the next point, considering how many bakers are there,my hubby is from Denver, why did these men not go to another baker as most couples do(most don't settle on the first choice esp if there's an issue or just don't like them for no reason at all),perhaps a gay baker as they advertize or one of those, "we draw *anything* folks" who customize anything for the right price? And I had a question, do you feel the same about say a Muslim baker? Would you tell the strict Muslim baker he *must* create an artistic cake for a gay wedding?I find it odd that only christian beliefs,not Hindu, Buddhist, Muslim, etc, etc were singled out. If it's such an issue why not go to the Muslim, Catholic, Greek Orthodox, and Jewish bakeries also and if they have the same policy, sue them all? I'm very curious as to the answers since we are talking bias of any kind and those questions include your non-belief,which actually *is* a belief. Thanks much

Be careful not to think more highly of yourselves than you ought to ladies. You are in danger of becoming guilty of the very things you are accusing this man of: Intolerance, prejudice, and not loving others. Just because you are hosts on a National TV program does not make you culturally superior. This discussion is not about discrimination. Contrarily, it's about respect. It's about allowing people equal right to hold to one's own beliefs and not have their mind highjacked for the purpose of another's will. You throw in the verb "Love" as an effort to shame your guest. "Love" is not defined as "Caving To What Others Want Us To Do." Every person has the right to protect their conscience. If somebody were to come to me and request I "design "a personalized gift package specifically to celebrate their cause and that cause were say, dog fighting, or a pornographic movie, or pedophilia, for instance, these are lifestyle interests I could not support. Consequently, I should have the right to politely decline. I cannot devote my mind or heart to something that is against my very conscience. And I have the right to respectfully make that known. If you want to boil this down to loving somebody versus not loving somebody, than the people who are forcing somebody to do something against their very conscience, they are the ones who are not acting in love by forcing their will on others! This isn't about loving or not loving another person. This is about having the freedom to love others while retaining the freedom to live by one's conscience--just as you want the freedom to do so. Furthermore, there are other people, apparently, who it would not cross a moral barrier for them to provide any service someone wants. So they can go to them. That's the essence of mutual tolerance and love. The other is purely authoritarianism. We must be free to live according to our God given conscience. R.C. Sproul ["The conscience is a delicate instrument that must be respected. One who seeks to influence the consciences of others carries a heavy responsibility to maintain the integrity of the other person’s own personality as crafted by God. When we impose false guilt on others, we paralyze our neighbors, binding them in chains where God has left them free. When we urge false innocence, we contribute to their delinquency, exposing them to the judgment of God." R.C. Sproul] "One person believes he should eat only vegetables. Another person believes he may eat meat... Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind..." Romans 14:1-23 Romans 14:23 “Whatever does not proceed from faith is sin.” "So whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin." James 4:17 "Love" does not threaten to strip someone of their livelihood by demanding from others that which violates the very core of their innate values. Even moreso, it does not strong arm others into acceptance, embracing, or celebrating any one person's lifestyle through threats, blackmail, or intimidation. Only a shallow and weak character ascribes to this as their definition of love. Therefore, he himself knows not what the true definition of God's Love truly is.

The logic of these women is deplorable and is a reminder of how unintellectual our generation is... yeah, we have instant information everywhere on our phones. But the ability to think and reason well is deplorably low... Jesus hanging out with sinners is clearly explained in the text of the New Testament itself. "I came to seek and save the LOST." THAT's why he's hanging out with the "sinners" and not with the Pharisees. And wherever Jesus hangs out (e.g. his compassion for the woman caught in adultery), his final message is ALWAYS: "Go and sin no more". And that's the effect that He always had. He goes to the house of the tax collector, and what happens? After an afternoon spent with Jesus, (and the Pharisees complaining: "he [has] gone to be guest with a man that is a sinner") the tax collector stands up and announces: "I will give half my belongings to the poor, and if I have cheated anyone, I will pay back four times as much." But THAT part (the "repentance" part) is always left out in favor of vapid pronouncements over "what would Jesus do". Oh, and Joy Behar is a witch. And dumb. And an utter disgrace to the people to whom The Good Book was given.
@derekthompson5731
@derekthompson5731 5 жыл бұрын
@@Dr_JSH I'd say Jesus's relationship with the Pharisees is more complex than is usually understood. Jesus, in all likelihood, either was a Pharisee himself or closely aligned with them theologically. This is what many scholars today would say. Yes, he levels his harshest criticism at them (mostly "you lack compassion"), but it's probably a case of being most critical of those who are closest to you (and thus should know better)(e.g. I expect more of my kids than I expect of other people's kids). The Pharisees, for their part, are always following him around because they think he's a viable candidate for Messiah. If he were an obvious sinner, they wouldn't have bothered. But they're "vetting" his candidacy. And finding a lot of nitpicky things they think a real "Messiah" should do better. But it's worth noting that the Pharisees often come to the apostles aid in the book of Acts. It's the Sadducees and Temple authorities (aligned with Rome) that are the real nasties.

I’m a gay man! And I am actually on Jacks side tbh. Now I believe it’s horrible and wrong for us gays or others to be discriminated upon or refused service and stuff like that. But Jack honestly isn’t doing all of that. He accepts gays into his business and serves them, he even offered to let the gay men have anything else in his store. He even felt bad for having to tell them no and you can totally tell that was true! But the thing is that he is religious and he has his views and beliefs based on his religion, but he knows it’s wrong to discriminate like that and seems to love everyone and be incredibly loving of a man. It’s because he only has to accept those he may not agree with on their own personal beliefs. He just has to accept and treat them like the normal people they are. It’s not like they have to kiss or be with the same sex themselves, so why can’t they do that if they truly aren’t hateful people? Well Accepting in gays and treating them like their normal as loving them, is different then being forced to actually participate in being a part of it!!! Jack making the cake for the wedding which isn’t just a cake but his art which art is anything that you put your talent, skill, hard work, love, and blood into of coarse, so him making this cake of art for a gay wedding which he accepts completely but now has to be apart of it I feel is wrong truly. But I know.... this can open doors to more discrimination. Things need to be handled better. Churches being forced to marry gay marriages is wrong I completely understand that as well for the same reason, but to refuse service to gays in a public business where gays are legal is totally wrong and if it’s that big a deal then they shouldn’t do business for the public. That stupid bitch who refused the marriage certificates to gays when it was legal is disgusting!!!!.

@@pjpugapillarfan2750 So you never been divorced, had premarital sex, ate shellfish, living in sin with a significant other, etc….??? Yeah…. I doubt that!!!! Don’t be a hypocrite!!!!! What makes our Sins (Born being gay) any different then the Sins that you’ve yourself also participated in??? A sin is still a sin! Most people like you tend to be huge ass hypocrites and a literal JOKE & FRAUD! Someone who is truly religious and not at all a hypocrite would not believe that being gay is a Sin, but it’s the actual “Acting Out” on those physical gay desires that is the actual Sin. You can’t help it if you are attracted to the same sex they believe, they believe that there’s a good reason why some people are attracted to the same sex and those reasons could possibly be to prove strong devotion towards god by living a complete celibate life (such as possibly become a priest), or by showing proof to doubters that truly with dedication towards enough constant Prayers & Devotions that a person who may at one time had found themselves being attracted to the same sex (gay) could truly possibly get completely healed and then become 100% straight! So to say “If you’re gay your living in sin” is a wrong statement! Just because someones gay doesn’t mean they’ve ever been physical in any inappropriate sort of way with the same sex before, or even that they’d ever would! And lastly even when being around people who are gay who do actually live that sort of lifestyle, someone who is truly religious wouldn’t condemn any of them for being gay but ignore and justify every other sin that they had also done themselves! Instead they’d be kind to those who are gay and try to relate to them by admitting and acknowledging their very own past actions of sins, and show how they have asked for forgiveness and repented for those actions. This is actually a HUGE ruling. This story shines the light on how Liberals think. That you have to accept them or you are going to be sorry. The Supreme Court said that the Colorado Court acted hostile towards the baker. The Colorado Court acted with a bias towards the baker (hard to comprehend the Colorado Court had to be reprimanded like this). The gay couple could have been adult and realistic about it and just gone to another baker, BUT NO!!! They had to act hostile and sue the baker, and all the way to the Supreme Court... Such a vindictive act. The gay couple was so offended that they were going to make this simple baker "pay" for not accepting them for being gay that they decided to punish the baker for essentially having his own counter beliefs. This gay couple didn't care if the baker was offended. The Supreme Court stated that the gay couple needs to be tolerant of the bakers views and opinions and his religious beliefs as well. That tolerance is a two way street, Kapish??!!! The gay couple expected and demanded their opinions and beliefs to be accepted, respected, and tolerated yet they would not accept, respect, and tolerate the bakers religious beliefs. This is why people can't and don't want to get along with those with such extreme beliefs and behavior. Everyone needs to tolerate others even if the other person is a jerk, nasty, or wrong. True adults don't act so poorly which shows you, those that do, are not adult regardless of their age.

Totally agree with you. I’m a gay homosexual myself who is so happy and fights for gay marriage and rights too! But I do feel bad for this guy cuz he definitely seems to be someone with religious views that he tries to live and follow by and yet he accepts gays and everyone regardless of their preference because he actually is a good man who knows that he may have his religion and views but he loves everyone by who they are and the way they are with other people in society and himself. But that’s him being good and accepting of everyone, because he knows that he can accept and love and not participate himself in the actual act they feel is wrong spiritually. I’m sorry but him being forced to paint and use his own personal created art to be used in something that is an obvious support and participation in something he feels wrong about is not right either. That being said those gays did have a right to feel discriminated by it and did have a good reason to bring it up and cause the attention. But now things need to be taught from the lesson. Ya Gays have to be accepted and served and helped wherever its legal and to those who can’t assist those based off their religious beliefs needs to have other staff to do what they can’t without making anyone feel discriminated upon. Simple. But he i feel should be given a pass for the teaching of the lesson

The debate is not even slightly about denying service to those who he believes are in sin, it’s about the fact that he is being forced to celebrate an event using his art, which is against his core beliefs. This debate should not be about gay weddings. It should be about whether a business owner should be forced to accept a project that he does not want to accept. Don't confuse the issue by claiming that he wouldn't serve them, because that's clearly untrue. He was happy to sell them anything in the store. They were asking him to create a specific cake, and he declined to do so. It doesn't matter if it's a gay wedding theme, or a swastika, or a "BLM" or "MAGA" message. He should not be forced to create a product at the whim of any customer.

The lawyer Kristen Waggoner's claim that slippery slope scenario doesn't exist was actually refuted by Justice Souter during oral arguments. He said he doesn't see a way where an exemption could be made for the baker, but then refuse the next person who comes to the court requesting an exemption, also on religious grounds, to be able to discriminate based on race or religion of a customer. It would set anti-discrimination laws back more than 50 years.

This man would have the right to refuse to make a cake for an infant christening ceremony (if he's protestant) or for an adult baptism ceremony (if he's catholic). He's made it very clear that he is not judging anyone; he is simply standing by his own convictions and exercising his right as a citizen of a democratic society to not express something that he does not believe in. It really is not that difficult to understand. But Americans and their fallacies... it is just nauseating.

Everything I've seen of this man tells me he has the attitude of "You're entitled to your beliefs. I'm entitled to my beliefs. We can still be friends. I'm happy to do business with you. But I can't participant in something that goes against my beliefs." And everybody seems to interpret that as in judging and hate. Doesn't matter how polite he tries to be explaining that, or making it clear he will sell them anything else. I'm sure if Joy was asked to bake a cake for party celebrating Pro-life causes, she would refuse. Does it mean she hates them or judges them? Of course, it just means she doesn't believe in that one aspect they believe in and she doesn't want to be apart of it. People who make the argument that Jesus would bake the cake are oversimplifying it. To them this is being nice vs. not nice and Jesus is nice. Of course Jesus befriend tax collectors and prostitutes, but he never condone that behavior. He called out that behavior as sinful. He would never assist them in celebrating that behavior. Also the argument about asking people if they have premarital sex or kids out of wedlock is ridiculous. The reason why is because he has never made a cake (that I know of) that celebrated premarital sex or having kids out of wedlock. Making a wedding cake for couple doesn't condone all past sins of the couple, it just celebrates their current union.
