I was driving a blue white and neon yellow taxi coming back from a fare. It was a 4 lane road and there was a little red ricer in front of me about 6 car lengths on my left. We were coming to an intersection where it was a court of apartment buildings on one side and a plaza on the other with a plaza entrance on the right from my perspective. As the little red car goes through the intersection a little blue car turns right in front of me. Same thing, I seen it coming and knew we were going to hit. I cranked the wheel as hard as I could and tried to swing the ass a little so the front might just make it by but i knew it was a long shot. No dice. I took the whole front end off her car. I almost made it as evidenced by the fact that it drove any of the quarter panel that wasn't embedded in the tire into my door jam. I went up the curb and the car came to a stop less than a foot from a cement light post. I tried unsuccessfully to open the driver door and was so mad that when it didn't open I kicked the door hard enough to bend it open so I could get out. I walked onto the road and I have no idea what my face looked but I screamed at her, "what the (expletive) were you doing!" With the most terrified look I've ever seen from another driver she replied, "I didn't see you." With disbelief I looked at my wrecked rolling advertisement and then back at her and screamed back, "They can see me from space!"

Not going to argue that, all cars have issues. But overall for such a high-performance car it has relatively low maintenance cost compared to European and Japanese car in its class. Some years had issues with head gaskets, radiators, fuel tanks, but most of the problems were relatively minor and could be fixed in your garage if you were decently mechanically inclined. On top of that most of the parts are cheap and easy to get being that it was sort of a parts bin car.

Most of the myths about Vipers come from video games, where rear drive high powered cars are nearly impossible to drive due to gamepad physics. Most of the people who say those things have never actually driven a high powered rear drive car in real life, or even any real car in real life, let alone a Viper. The rest of the myths come from professional reviewers, who hold every car to an impossible standard. Caveat: I have never driven a Viper.
@OrangeSpeedTV6 жыл бұрын
I grew up with my grandfather owning a 94 viper RT/10. What an awesome car to drive around. You could not drive 2 miles down the road without someone stopping to stare at it in awe. I believe most of the reason I’m into cars today is because of that car.

I grew up loving those. A blue with white stripes viper used to drive by our football practice field everyday in 96-97. The whole team would stop and watch it go by lol

it' 8.0L 450hp, pretty understressed. i bet it will go a million miles if it is well maintained, the transmission might even die earlier but being a Tremec should make it easily replaceable.

Who else grew up absolutely idolizing the Gen.2 Viper? It's the perfect poster car for anyone born in the mid 90s. I'm 21, and I will own a silver and black striped GTS one day.

when i saw the Viper GTS pace car edition in a Road & Track magazine back in the 90s, the Viper became my most favorite car of all time. And that specific magazine issue had articles about Ferraris, Lamborghinis, and Porsches, but i fell in love with the Viper above all else.

I've seen this exact car on my way home from work every few weeks, and around town. Every time I see It I have to take a moment to just look at it. The viper is my all time favorite car and just looking at it makes any bad day better. It's cool knowing the history of that car now too. I never thought I'd know anything about it.

Love the "can't keep a good car down" theme. Have a similar sentiment with my first Civic (which isn't a Viper, by any means, but it's still mine)

Great story, I'm glad you got her back. I was 7 when when the first Vipers came out, I totally freaked out over the Viper TV show, even tough it was somewhat corny, it still featured my dream car. I have about 200 Viper scale models. Sadly I am now 32 and the chances I'll ever own one seems slim, especially since I live in South Africa, and there is only a hand full around. Looking forward to more great videos.

I know what you mean. I have similar stories with my 1988 Olds 88. It was my first brand new car I ever bought. My wife and I and our three girls ages 12 to 8 spent two years in the Arctic (NWT) and when we came home in 1986, we lined things up where we bought this 1988 88. I thought of getting a personalized plate that read "AN8888" but thought, "What if it's a lemon?" I'd had one body job done to it and it looked like it had been dipped in the Dead Sea. Long story short!!! 19 years later, this owner of a one owner car drove it to the salvage yard. Somewhere, I have a photo of the mileage on it when the wreckers took possession of it. Remember, this was in a time when the big three didn't really make cars to last all that long. 704,500 kilometers. Around 437,000 miles. Not too bad for a North American built car by the Big Three. I cried!!
