I was born in 89 and haven’t thought about POG in about 20 years. The nostalgia is beyond anything! I loved the ones with skeletons, they were metal before I knew what metal was.

So would they consider “marbles” gambling too?

Yes any for keeps or trades games were banned

In a world of winning & losing, schools don't want to teach real life lessons, but, instead, ban anything that hurts the feelings of the biggest crybabies & their overindulgent parents.

In Mexico we know them as "Tazos". They were popular and often had elements from pop culture, like anime (Pokemon, Naruto, Medabots), cartoons (Looney Tunes) and videogames. It also got criticized and banned by the church as "related to the devil", and people organized public burnings.

Same here in Indonesia, known as 'Tazos'. When I was in elementary school. Break time is the time for Tazos battle. There was one guy (my friend) who already stood in front of the class and the others would make a line to fight him. I recall the day I became famous for short period due to my Charizard Tazo always won the battle and I became 'rich'. What a day!

Beautiful, it should have been criticized in Spain also. But I guess kids would found other ways to gamble a little

I remember I used to play this when I was younger. It was so easy to win and cheap. We were dirt poor and it was one of the few games I could play and feel like I didn't miss out.

I still have my collection from the 90's. The brand that I mostly got was called "Chupa Caps", which was a interesting looking plastic container filled with some Chupa Chups lollies and the Pogs. By the time I won and bought quite a lot of Caps and Slammers.

We used to call them tazos in India. This takes me back to my childhood. Thanks for making this video. Edit: read other comments. Guess they were called tazos outside of the United States. We got ours from chip packets (lays) and from biscuits.

@silent21632 жыл бұрын
Until now, here in the Philippines, you would see kids playing POG early in the morning. Yes as in very early. Especially if it's weekend and summer vacation. They would buy tons of POGS from a retail store then play whole day under the sun 😂
