I remember the first time I ever saw Julian. I was lying on my couch unaware my life was about to change. I was watching SNL, and a digital short came on. Andy Sanberg started singing about a boombox, then an angel appeared. I swear to God wind blew in my face and I was in slow motion as I sat up in awe of this perfect man. I've heard that song more times than you could imagine. After that I was hooked. Too him, the strokes, the voids. Anything this man touches is magnificent. When I found out he was married I was pretty devastated. But the love never died and the voice still rocks me whenever I hear it. Everything about him is devastating beautiful and I thank God the lonely island wanted to include Julian in there fun so I could know and admire that sweet voice and person as a whole.
@user-eg6bd9vg9s3 жыл бұрын
I find it very weird/interesting that a lot of people - including me - had a similar experience with this digital short. I found it randomly on KZbin maybe a year after it aired but the sensation you're describing was the same. I listened to it about 10 times before I had to go out. The whole evening had a magical vibe, I remember the sun being fantastically bright and the colours looking very vivid. I felt a euphoria like I had discovered some universal truth.
@leavingitblank9363 Жыл бұрын
Love "Boombox"! The whole thing is so perfect. But my introduction was "Instant Crush". I'd been letting YT play a Franz Ferdinand playlist of their own making, but then "Instant Crush" played. I was like, "WHO is THIS guy?!" Thus began my obsession. Julian definitely has some sort of charisma -- you can't take your attention off him. And yet, he's very unanimated and nonreactive. He is (or at least was) uncomfortable in front of cameras, and some of his behavior reflects that, but he's still riveting. Perhaps because he's very self-possessed.
