The Volvo 240 Gets Painted! - Volvo 240 Restoration Project - Part 16

The big moment has arrived! The Volvo gets painted in an original factory colour.....Slate blue. This colour was originally available on amazon's and PV544's but we think it really suits the 240. It's been a long road to get here.... but it's been worth it! We're on the homeward stretch now to get the car finished!

My 1st car was a 240 (well, technically a 264 converted/Frankensteined to a 240 turbo by the previous owner, even had the 15" Virgo wheels). I always wanted to restore it, as it needed a LOT of work, but couldn't afford to at the time. I still dream of getting a 240 again and restoring it. I'll be binge-ing these videos. Beautiful job so far, hats off to you.

Absolutely fantastic guys. Great workmanship and I know how grueling it can get in the midst of filler work, spray filler, high build. Going through the grades over the entire car several times lol never ending repetitive story sometimes. In the end it all pays off and when the 'paint day' goes well it's such a relief. Great work, colour is really nice and clear coat finish is brilliant. Well done. Really enjoying your videos keep up the excellent work.

Nice end result. Why did you only remove the decorative strips from the gutter so late when you know that you are going to spray the entire car?

To be honest we left them on for as long as possible to try and keep them safe and not knocking around the workshop. They are so easily damaged! They are also getting painted black so they are going to get keyed up and painted before going back on.

Thank you! The boot was repainted in body colour stonechip, interior wasn't but the engine bay..... That's getting painted when we do something special in series 2 😁👍

What paint is it, acrilic.

Hi no it's not acrylic paint it's 2k, also known as two part paint. It's a base layer colour covered with an activated clearcoat on top to seal it in. It's what's used as standard in the automotive industry.
