For more about this episode: bit.ly/2kR5ii0
I worked in the entertainment industry for 17 years, and I grew jaded to being starstruck… but this episode is a dream come true for me. I got to sit down with Byron Katie, whose work and story helped me pick myself up & transform my life.
Katie, creator of The Work, is driven by a single mission: teaching people how to end their own suffering.
Katie found herself at the bottom of a ten-year spiral when she realized that when she believed her stressful thoughts, she suffered, but that when she questioned them, she didn't suffer - and that this is true for every human being.
Now, Katie guides people through a powerful process of inquiry she calls The Work, in which anyone can find their stressful beliefs about life, other people, or themselves & radically shift them. The result is a life changed forever.
The Work is an astonishingly simple process - as you’ll hear in this episode - accessible to anyone at any age and from any background; all you need is an open mind.
Even from the darkest depths of suffering and loss, anyone can learn to trace unhappiness to its source and deal with it there - trust me.
Take these tools, open your mind, and set yourself free.
-Luke

Luke, I loved this interview. I loved the way you reinterpreted your thoughts, after questioning your beliefs. The respect and the freedom yourself owe to others, rather that the belief that they owe you. I will use that myself, any time I will find myself holding others accountable for my misery. I will remember what you said, wise man. Keep doing what you do. Change yourself first in order to help others change, and one day, we might be able all around the world to life a happy and fulfilled life. I so love you. One person at the time. I stayed with myself , today.

And for you Katie, I wish I was the richest woman to afford to take you around the world and help people to realize how miserable we live when we believe our thoughts. You’re by far the most amazing woman I’ve ever known, beside me lol . When I was young, I had the most terrifying family. They’re all dead now, but I remember I use to think like you. But then, I grow up , met the world and became “one of them”. Your work just helps me to reconnect with who I was ME. I live now a happy life again with your help. Thank you Katie for being this extraordinary woman. Much respect and love. Mihaela ❤️

This self inquiry thing, when a thought that triggers pain arises in me, im starting to catch it and observe the pain isnt in the object of the thought (like the painful thing the thought is about), the pain is in me and this observation seems to let the pain be released from the thought. Anthony de Mello points to this a lot too

Everything supporting us to be the light we are, is legitimate! Even if it does alter the truth of a relationship. Still, the unspoken, unsigned reality in between two parties is desirable to work! Is that future music? Maybe it is! Till then we may have to forgive everything to stay happy within ourselves.

Luke , great interaction great teaching in the moment . Thank you . The true place the real foundation from where you made the decision to help them in there business should have been from you heart a gift like buying a homeless person a sandwich. We all have work to do on the clarity and awareness of the trueness of true help of a true gift to all and any other SOUL in this time space reality we share . No judgment . Love you brother . "Should have been", the best gifts are the ones we freely give to others without an expectation, only to be helpful, but he was where he was at the moment, with the awareness and knowledge he had at the time, until now when he questioned it more deeply. "Should" makes it sound like it could have been another way.

Why do I want to punish others when they are innocent? We want to punish others because we project onto them our guilt for separating from God. We are not God, but being in the ego is pretending we are. It hurts and does not work. I loved this show! recommend A Course in Miracles

Hi Ms Byron's concept is true *ONLY* after we do the Beginning Of The Work. The beginning of the work is to really identity the root cause of our reactive behaviors. Its also call Triggers. We are all filled with, emotions, good and bad. Thus when one reacts to an accusation he or she will only be responding to what he is accustom to acting out from. So, what's the Beginnings Of The Work? Its firstly going back into our pass, our childhood. Our environment, culture, background, education shape who we are in this moment. If you have a reactive or an unreactive personality, if your triggered, allow yourself to ask What in childhood made me see things in this way? Example: They don't love me. The work would have you redirect the statement I don't love myself. But this is why its important to do the "Beginning Of The Work." By asking When as a child I felt unloved? Why did I label this or that situation as unlovable? Who are the they who don't love me? Why I do not love myself? Sit in those questions. Now Journal or write the answers to those questions one by one. Allow the light to shine on the shadow. Be honest, truthful. Allow the little boy Allow the little girl to feel the situations all over again this time without judgment. Do that for as long or as short as you would allow reality go surface. Reality only surface when we begin to Think Reason Act Out of our adult intelligent brain. We can practice this daily for 20-30 minutes at a time and watch what begins to happen. After practicing in this way for a while Now Ms Katie's techniques is the end of the matter. I did the beginning of the work, it took me 3 years to began to see some light, improvement. Some needs less time. Others can start right up with Ms Katie. I do love The Beginning Of The Work I love even more The Work. Today I can CHOSE to make myself feel what makes me feel love, lovable, happy, peaceful, calm. We can CHOOSE. Chose to be Sad or Happy Mad or Glad. Which is the best for you, your health, your heart. No, its not justifying a bad situation to make us feel better, such as He or she don't love me. The truth of the matter may well be he or she don't love me. But which feels better for ME? The pain of ruminating " He or She don't love me , or the pleasure of saying I love me And that's my business. The beginning of the work shifts us into someone most wonderful. Thanks Luke Thanks Ms Byron Katie.

You have been spared!!! Let someone else have a go at doing your "job", it takes a whole village to raise a child. If they are being abused or 'hurt', u see, you could be perceiving they are being hurt or abused. Possibly it's not. They are being shown love. Change your mind, change your story to say; they are being looked after, they are in a good place, the people watching them are very good nice people. They are being loved and embraced. Change the narrative and your story of it the actual reality will be different. It would reveal it to you. I don't know you, I'm sure your children will be fine. If THEY ARE NOT. ITS BECAUSE YOU DO NOT WANT THEM TO BE. Its that simple. You believe they are being hurt, so someone or "something " will have to hurt them to prove you right! Say they are happy & safe and THEY WILL BE!!!

I enjoyed this but it doesn't resonate with me in parts. In business the ego runs rife and deals are done. It's no good just dismissing the egoic truth in the fact you've been done bad, if you help someone or carry out duties the feeling in business is it should be returned. It's how the world works. I'd be more inclined rather to try and dismiss the natural dissapointement, anger, rejection by playing mind games saying no written contract exists to own and acknowledge the perfectly typical emotional response and see the emotions are appearing on behalf of or representing the ego I that ultimately consists of nothing tangible and is manufactured out of self referencing thought only. The defence mechanism of anger etc is appearing to defend nothing. Turning and shifting the narrative saying hey maybe they were too busy or did you hanlve a contract seems to be pandering to the ego. If you say look they didn't fancy doing it despite you promoting them, your not important enough to them, they didn't believe in you or they just could be bothered. Those are likley true, you can't ever know exactly why but they didn't fancy it. End. Emotions will arise now on behalf of the I and they will pass. Don't hold a grudge on behalf of the non existent I, just move on nothing happened to anyone. Just the egos ideas of how things should of been didn't manifest that's all that happened and if you see it as anything more than that suffering will be manufactured on behalf of the wronged egoic I.

All the enlightened/awakened masters say 90% the same things. Buddha, Jesus, St. Teressa, and even Byron Katie. Compare the teachings. It’s honesty remarkable how truly similar it all is Be careful to not limit yourself to what can currently be measured or known. If scientists or anyone did the same, we wouldn’t discover new things or figure anything new out Good luck on your journey
