Nena - you nailed it in your interpretation of the "fake funerals for all my friends" section. This is exactly what they explained - except that it was written by Paulina. This is about a friend who told her that she should just hang out with them because the band was a waste of time and they would never amount to anything. Or something along those lines. And, in typical Pau fashion, she wasn't having any of that and took her "pau-er" back with scathing lyrics. Terrific video, as always! Truly hope you can get to their newest single, S!ck - that deserves an analysis by you!

They were on the Shiprocked cruise last week and played it. The next morning it was Mayday, Mayday as a storm crashed the ship into a dock causing damage. They were delayed 8 hours. They did a 2nd show on the cruise a few days later and they led off with this song. To end the cruise they do an all star jam featuring members of the 30 or so bands on the cruise. Love your analyses.

If you want to take a deep-dive into the troubled mind of a young girl dealing with extreme homesickness and feeling out of place, have a look at "When I'm Alone" - kzbin.info/www/bejne/fmLZk5ylfctssNE Spoiler backstory: Written by 15yo Dany as a solo homework assignment when the band attended Berklee School of Music in Boston (2015). In addition to being homesick after being away from home for 5 weeks, she was surrounded by older, English-only speakers during most of her classes, so when she was tasked to write a song during her last week she ended up writing lyrics that described her loneliness and how out of place she felt. She was initialy stumped, but ended up pouring out her soul in an overnight writing session so the song could be presented the next day. Known as "Dany's Song" by the fanbase.

Songs *"Disciple"* & *"Z"* were later uploaded separately on the full concert video. Anyway, during the first time Dany sang *"Mayday Mayday This ship is going down".* The guy behind the camera said & you can clearly hear it *"I hope not".* 😆 That was hilarious. Since their cruise ship was involve in an accident with a pier in Jamaica.

The story I remember hearing is. A friend of Pau’s had a birthday party/sleepover. Pau went to the birthday party. But The Warning had a concert so she had to leave and not do the sleepover. Monday when Pau got to school she found out that the birthday girl had bad mouth Pau and said Pau was wasting her time since the band was never going anywhere. Don’t piss Pau off she will write a song about you. I bet that woman that little girl grew up to be regrets that now since she would have a Rock Star as a friend if she had just kept her mouth shut. But we as fans she think her for causing this great song to be written.

There’s probably very few of us walking this planet that can’t relate in some form to the lyrics of this song. Pau so eloquently details what most of us have felt at some point in our lives which further reinforces the relatability that TW has lyrically to the masses despite their relatively young ages. Dany has spoken about the responsibility she feels about portraying Pau’s intent while singing this song and as you mentioned, she nails it in typical Dany fashion. I’m likely completely out in left field here but I always think Ale’s dramatic bass slide coming out of the breakdown is a show of solidarity with her sister in her own way besides just being musically interesting.

I completely agree about the bridge and the lyrics "bury the truth in the lie you created, bury yourself and remember me when you're alone" is one of my favorite lyric's from any of their songs. You hit the nail on the head with the story behind the song and the "ship" Pau was referring to being a relationship. This song was my least favorite song on the Mayday EP when it came out but it's grown on me a lot since and is now one of my top 5 favorites on the ERROR album.

That's interesting it was your least favorite at first. I am a runner and I stumbled across The Warning after the Mayday EP was released. Every day I would listen to it when running on this particular trail and when the "mayday, mayday" part came on, it was always when the trail opened up to this big meadow, and the song seemed even more majestic. :) As for "ship", I had never considered this was a slang for relationship until reading these comments, but it makes the mayday lines even more clever (although changes the tone of the bridge.) The song is a work of art!

@@psychologyofrockConsider that the word "entrégate" can be interpreted in many ways, for example, "Me entregué al 100%- I gave my best or I gave 100% of myself), so when the lyrics says "es tu destino entrégate" to me it means "it's your destiny(everyone's destiny is to shine), "entrégate"(embrace it), that's the key word in the song. In Spanish we have the word "rindete" to "surrender", as I am Mexican I never consider "entregate" as surrender (only in the police context, example, "estás rodeado, entregate-you are surrounded, surrender".

somehow, i think we're on the same channel re: Animosity 😹 here's the comment i normal post for it... Dany (guitar) works hard to get the emotion correct that Pau (drums) was experiencing when she wrote this song... *Animosity* was spawned from a childhood friendship breaking up... basically the story is that someone said something like, "come hang out with us. that band thing won't go anywhere. why are you wasting your time?" well, you can imagine how that went over... TWA like to joke that the moral of the story is "Don't upset Pau or you may be memorialized in a song" 😹 *Fade Away* from the _"Escape the Mind"_ EP is similar to *Animosity* in that both talk about moving on after others have attempted to sully your drive and determination... i can easily see both of them being initially developed around the same time frame... _some lyrics from _*_Fade Away_*_ :_ They told me I couldn't do it That I would stumble and fall I would get cuts and bruises That I just should give up [...] And I'll walk, walk Walk until the very top And I'll run, run Even though I stumble and fall And I'll jump, jump Jump until I reach the sun And I'll shine, shine Shine until my light fades away TWA ⚡🤘😸🤘⚡ TWA

Yes! I hadn’t considered that because I did not know that ship was slang for relationship for Gen Z lol - but I think you are right! 😊⚡️🤘🏻

If this is true, there is profesional psychological help out there, it will help her understand herself and move on. If is just a gimic, it’s ok.

I don't think it is about any of The Warning girls, I just think its a literary work that explores this theme :)

@@psychologyofrock Probably for the best. The you tube powers that be most likely wouldn't approve of the a "you know what" to the head line and would demonetize/age restrict your video. Great analysis!
