Growing up in NYC this was a pretty real account of how it was in the 70's. You couldn't go to any neighborhood that was not your own without the risk of a chase, beat down, and having your kicks thrown up on the telephone wires. Ah the good ole days.

This iconic movie caused such a stir back in 1979 and became an instant cult favorite. And it didn’t hurt all the unhinged media hype surrounding the movie. This is of the few times Rolling Stones has gotten something right “The Last Ride Home”, excellent!

Yeah The Wanderers by Richard Price... That movie is based on the book, which is a series of different tales about The Wanderers, a real club. Written by Richard 'Richie' Price. The Baldies didn't really shave their heads till the 70s. They were called the Baldies because they had American Bald Eagles on their jackets, and were an evolution of the original Fordham Daggers. The Ducky Boys were a bunch of dudes who hung out by the duck pond and grew into a gang from that. As far as S.E. Hinton and her books based around The Outsiders, I found out a few years ago that although embellished slightly, and from what I understand very slightly, she wrote those novels about real people in and around Tulsa. Ponyboy Curtis was M.I.A. and Tim Shepard died in 'Nam. Sodapop and Two-bit ran an auto body shop attached to Darrel Curtis' gas station/mini market. And the soc chick Cherry, or Cheryl, married the real Tex. Fascinating shit, too me. Anyway, love, peace, and stone grease, boppers.

I dont think it did big box office success though so I didn't think it had big cult status plus only a couple of my friends know of the movie, but its good to see it does as I loved the movie. With Hollywood bereft of new ideas for great movies and into remakes, I wonder if this would be a contender. I gather it was shot on a pretty tight budget and with more money and much better fight choreography and maybe expanding to some car chases it could be made better (for a newer generation). Its a bit scary how much time has passed since the original now looking at these guys.
