All other german WW II tanks I have seen on videos had misfires. This one not. It sounds simply like a modern, not-worn engine. Very impressing!

Awesome sauce! Wish that more and more WW2 armor pieces will be restored to driving condition throughout the world to show how they looked and behaved... Imagine the possibilities also for filmmakers to use them in future movies... Good stuff guys!

Joe Kundlak Unfortunately pretty much all the remaining WWII German armor have been found and restored to display condition and are in museums or private collections. It takes a ton of money and effort to get them in running condition again. Maybe there will me a few more discovered in marshes or bogs in Russia again.

I believe ALL restorations ought to include the guns - even if it is to fire blanks. The whole point of a Panzer/Jagdpanzer/Stug is to provide mobile fire. I hate to watch these beautiful beasts just driving around in circles, it would be like restoring a Viking warship and not sailing it or a medieval catapult without firing.

Is this Sturmgeschutz equipped with its orginal engine (rebuilt/maintained) or a replacement (non-OE) engine? Also, are all instrument panel dials/measures operational within? Excellent work on its restoration/rebuild.

Yes, its equipped with a an original engine and the interior is exactly as it was when coming out of the factory.

And now I have no idea at all where this starter ring is because the videographer neglected to show that in the video. Instead we get a view of the driver, and then the back of the guy pulling this hidden ring. Bummer.

Old clip just came up... Question about the colors. Zimmerit was original yellov-gray, and basecolor dunkelgelb. Was the zimmerit always painted. Later camouflage schemes were meant to save color.

Strong firepower, weak armor and full of corners and edges, like me. That´s because I like it so much. 0:55 so what interim machine is propelled by the crank, a clockwork or a an electric motor?
@maastomunkki2 жыл бұрын
Inertia starter. Basically a hefty flywheel that is spun up with crank to a desired rpm and when the clutch is dropped it turns the engine and (hopefully) fires it up.

Such a basic well thought out design and I wonder why we don't have this type of anti-tank infantry tax available now because they had good firepower it was low and was revolutionary and cheap to make. It'd be interesting to have an updated version of this go against Russian armor and the Ukraine?

Do you really have to crank-start it?
@tomstamford68372 жыл бұрын
Generally yes. They did have electric starters but that was reserved for quick starts, emergencies etc. Manual starts saved battery power as I understand it. By all accounts, not much fun doing that mid winter when everything has iced over. As you can appreciate, batteries tend to fail in extreme cold as well.
