During PRIDE WEEKEND in LA - 1984, The Weather Girls performed at the now gone STUDIO ONE in LA. The place was packed with hundreds of hunky shirtless men and I was right in front of the stage. The 'girls' pulled me, my friend Pete and a few others on the stage to dance and sing this song with them. YES, I am that old .... LOL .... Turned 60 last February. Absolutely love ALL your video reactions. Hugs from ultra gay Palm Springs, California. Pos Script: The Girls originally started with the fabulous -- SYLVESTER - as TWO TONS OF FUN.Another of my stories, when Sylvester performed at the now close PROBE in LA, I met his manager, Tim McKenna and left the club with him and Sylvester to a party at their hotel room in West Hollywood. We became close friends after that and the rest is history. Also, about 4 years ago during Pride San Francisco they had a window display honoring the song with about 100 dildos of all kinds of colors and sizes hanging under a giant umbrella and the title, It's Raining Men right above it. Only in the Castro in San Francisco ... LOL ..! PLEASE look SYLVESTER up !! .... He is one of the biggest gay icons from back then. Start with YOU MAKE ME FEEL !!

One half of the duo - Martha Wash - was the lead singer on MANY MANY dance and pop hits - including C&C Music Factory's "Gonna Make You Sweat", Seduction's "You're My One And Only True Love, and Black Box's "Everybody, Everybody" and "Strike It Up." Legend in every sense of the word.

The word ICONIC can be overused at times but NOT when it comes to this song...this is the definition of ICONIC for the gay community, and dance clubs....this song will last forever!! SO MUCH FUN!!! And Martha Wash is just so bad ass!! The vocals are great, the beat is the vibe...so many people simply adore these girls, and this song!!!!

Such a classic - just everything about this video is fantastic for all the wrong reasons The faces as they fall from the sky, the dress showing the background as it clashed with the green screen, the men looking like flashers - it's just perfect. A few years back we had loads of bad floods in the UK and some asshat decided it was God punishing us for Gay marriage - so of course everyone downloaded this to get it back in the charts.

The Weather Girls originally went by the name “2 Tons Of Fun” when they were the backup singers for Sylvester. The record label didn’t like the name so they changed their name and it instantly turned them into a one hit wonder unfortunately. Martha Walsh, one of the 2 ladies, is very well known for her famous vocals on songs for songs by C+C Music Factory and other artists who stole her recordings. She won the lawsuit thankfully. I unfortunately forget the name of the other singer who was part of The Weather Girls. She died too young though.

Her name was Izora Armstead and yes she died to young,,,

Before naming themselves "The Weather Girls", Martha Wash and Izora Armstead began as back-up singers for Sylvester. Check out his song "Dance (Disco Heat)" and you'll hear the 2 of them out singing him on the recording, which according to lore, was exactly the sound Sylvester was going for. Eventually, the struck out on their own as Two Tuns of Fun. Martha Wash would go on to sing "Everybody Dance Now", "You're My One And Only (True Love)", and "Strike It Up".

The Weather Girls - [Danish] Vejrpigerne - have been somewhat of a landmark in Copenhagen since the 1930's. They sit atop the Richshuset building on the City Hall Square. Stretching below them is a long, neon thermometer - also from the 1930's - which still works today. The Cycle Girl, however, is no longer active. There are two versions of the girl; one as seen above [photo of it available on search of "Copenhagen Denmark Weather Girls"] of a girl in a skirt and one with a girl in a jacket and holding an umbrella with her dog next to her [her dog is just visible on the right]. The girls are on a rotating disc and provided a weather forecast for Copenhageners. If fair weather was expected, the girl on the bike would rotate out to the edge. Rain? The other girl would rotate out. Hardly scientific and really rather vague, but ["The Weather Girls" are also] excellent examples of how women on bikes are an integral part of the Danish culture and mentality. And in a respectable, integrated way.

I love Martha and Izora's vocals. Truly they are two of the most gifted vocalists I've ever heard in popular music. The video is wonderfully cheesy in that way you only find in early 80s videos. The song is catchy as hell. However, you are the only other person who had the same reaction I did when I heard the song. Wouldn't a man get bruised and maybe have a few fractures if he fell so far? He might not be in any shape to cuddle. I prefer my men not broken.

After leaving the Spice Girls, losing weight, and goin' back to her natural hair colour, Geri Halliwell (Ginger Spice) did a cover of the song for her second album. It was not only very successful, but it's worth a reaction to. Link: kzbin.info/www/bejne/p6K7hqObaM-foaM

The 1982 song "Muscles" by Diana Ross also has scantily clad bodybuilders in bed with her in the music video ... in case you possibly had that dream, too. :-) And Michael Jackson wrote the lyrics ... so that just upped the LGBTQ factor a bit as well. :-)
