Actually the director wanted to keep most of these scenes in! It was the Paramount heads that wanted to delete the important scenes in Nemesis so it could have a shorter theatrical run time. It was their failed attempt in getting it to play in more theaters at the cost of the movie’s meaning.

While Nemesis was a mediocre movie overall, one thing I liked is how it showed how Picard and Data had changed over time. Picard started TNG as a very stolid and even aloof character and became much warmer by the end. Meanwhile, Data started as a robot who wanted to be human and by the end embodied the essence of humanity, including sacrificing himself to save his captain and shipmates.

What never felt right was Worf dating Troi. It was forced. She was never his type. He is said as much in one of the earlier seasons. Worf needed someone who was at least part Klingon for the sex part alone. He would have could have physically hurt Troi during sex. Riker and Troi were made for each other.

I really wanted more of the wedding, because I only had to wait for it since I was 7 😫. But Riker didn’t disappoint… Picard: I take it there will be no speeches at the Betazed wedding Riker: no speeches, and no clothes 😏 It was the look on his face for me 😂😂😂 So fast forward to Picard: I had a mathematical brainstorm of a sort: either Riker hit a hole-in-one, or was little baby Thaddeus was present at his parents’ wedding? You know…internally present? Like “Deanna can’t have champagne for the toast” present? And since this movie went 10/10 with the Shinzon creep factor, can Thaddeus’ illness & subsequent death be traced back to something Shinzon may have done to Deanna while she was pregnant? Ok my mind wandered there.

Picard is a captain in paradise. Smart, gracious, compassionate, intelligent. And ofc he can fight. Sisko is the captain that defends paradise. Strong, wise, cautious, brave. He won the Dominion war. Janeway is the captain you'd want to save you. Self-sacrificing, wilful, loyal, adaptable. She pretty much committed genocide to save her crew. Each are different. But Picard telling Data to shut up is the top band of captainness lol.

In a deleted scene they explained Wesley still had a lot to learn from Starfleet so the traveler told him to go back. Also Wesley rejoined when the Cardassian's attacked and destroyed the Indigenous colony after the Enterprise left Wesley with the Traveler

If Jean-Luc Picard had officiated the wedding of William Riker & Deanna Troi, he would've done it on the Enterprise-E because Starfleet Captains have no authority to do that on planets, only in space. William Riker's parents would've been glad to see their son getting married and William Riker's mother would've cried for joy. Deanna Troi's parents would've been happy to see it, though it was on Earth and that Riker & Troi had to go to Betazed to renew their vows there to make Deanna's mother happy, in which they would have to wear no clothing there during their 2nd wedding.

Star Trek Nemesis is the only movie that turned my stomach into a knot, and had me crying during a few moments. Twenty years later, and was this movie really that bad??

I think there was a general sense of Trek burnout by the time Nemesis came out. _Voyager_ had limped across the finish line by then, _Enterprise_ was plodding along, and DS9 had gone out with more of a whimper than a bang. Also, this film followed the forgettable _Insurrection_ .

I think everyone wishes they could forget that horrific, painful, and just plainly petty addition at the end of the series. They had 7 years to pair them up with someone else and didn't. Sirtis and Frakes worked hard to keep the romance alive. And it was frustrating enough with the bought scripts that one eps played off their history and another had them act as strangers. But the Troi/Worf thing was cruel and uncalled for. And luckily, fixed immediately. But fans shouldn't have had the show end on that foul move. Nicely repeated with Voyager and the Chakotay /7 situation.

It seems that every period has a film in that category; with TOS, it was "Star Trek V," this one "Nemesis" and with the Kelvin Universe it was "Beyond."
