It makes me feel old how everyone who reacts to this movie lately didn't know Adam Sandler can sing! His early career, the SNL and standup years, he was always playing songs. It was the first thing people thought of when you mentioned his name. The Channukah Song, Ode to my Car, The Thanksgiving Song... like a third to a half of the tracks on most of his comedy albums were songs.

The Wedding Singer is absolutely my favorite Adam Sandler movie. I actually quite partial to the movies he’s done with Drew Barrymore. They really do have great chemistry. 50 First Dates and Blended were also very good, but this one I think was the best. Loved your reactions to this one.

This is one of the only Adam Sandler movies I like....he's dorky and sweet but not completely annoying. It's also part of my nostalgia 90s Drew Barrymore trifecta that I was obsessed with in middle/high school (also including Ever After and Never Been Kissed - which is a horribly problematic movie upon rewatch, but whatever, haha). The soundtrack of this movie is also SO much fun. It's also - very weird fact - what introduced me to the song 'How Soon Is Now' and then it took me YEARS to find it just from trying to hunt down that guitar sound lol.

As you said, one of the keys to the this movies quality is that they didn't go heavy into 1980s stereotypes. There were just settled cues to remind you of when it takes place like his friend's Michael Jackson jacket, the Boy George fan in the band, some of the ladies fashions. It's all things that are real to the period.

This movie is what made Drew Barrymore my Hollywood crush when I was in high school. In 1998, she dethroned Sandra Bullock as that crush and has been there ever since. I kept waiting for you to figure out that Holly was played by Christine Taylor. She's Ben Stiller's wife. She first had fame from the Brady Bunch movies in the 90s but was also great on Dodgeball.

Such a fantastic movie, loved the reaction! One of the top movies for my wife and I, lost count with how many times we've watched it together. :P And yes, I tear up every time the plane song comes on. Hard not thinking about my own marriage and wanting to grow old with my wife.
