Not only is The Wedding Singer such a great example of a romcom done well and the actors having good chemistry, the music throughout was chosen perfectly. I can sing everything from beginning to end, word-for-word. 😂 It's literally my top favorite Adam Sandler movie. It's one of my favorite movies that after all these years and streaming services, some of my family will still go out of their way and make sure to tell me it's on tv when they come across it. LOL I love it that much and still have the vhs too.

Sandler's music was actually his initial key to fame. After MTV and Airheads and being a writer for Saturday Night Live, he started performing songs like Red Hooded Sweatshirt, Lunch Lady Land, and The Hanukkah song during Weekend Update and moved up to a Feature Player on the show. The Hanukkah Song in particular was a massive hit.. He was the ultimate Funny Song Guy for a while. Then Canteen Boy, Operaman and Happy Gilmore hit different.

Adam Sandler does in fact sing and has recorded numerous (comedic) songs throughout his career. He actually scored a minor hit with "The Chanukah Song" in the mid '90s. Billy Idol was a rock icon throughout the 1980s, recording "White Wedding" among many others.

Having lived through the 1980s, I understood a lot of the 80s references, particularly those dealing with television or music. For instance, Julia's fiance Glenn must have been a Miami Vice fan, because of the clothes that Don Johnson wore on the show. And Robbie's best friend, as mentioned in the movie wanted to be like Fonzie from the 1970s show Happy Days. And Robbie's 'material girl' reference was about the Madonna song of the same name.

I had just earned my license when this movie came out. I'd been on dates before where my dad drove us to where ever and then came and picked us up, but this was the first movie I got to take my date myself to go see. Her name was Mary. I was a sophomore and she was a senior. We'd dated off and on my freshman and sophomore years of high school.

Sandler’s song on the plane always is emotional. He still performs it at his stand up shows, lyrics changed a bit, as a nostalgic song to thank his fans over the years. Still gets folks emotional.

However, he's been married for some time now, his wife is actually in some his movies :) I like how you knew Billy Idol's song "White Wedding" but had no clue who he was when you see him on the plane LOL, such a great reaction Mary!!! Keep them coming!! Another cute Drew movie is "Never Been Kissed" Also, I love the little hint that Sammy got together with Holly at the end. When Sammy gives Robbie his credit card at the airport, Holly gives him a flirty smile and says that was really nice of him! Then at the end, they are walking down the wedding aisle behind Robbie and Julia, smiling at each other!!

It's a longshot requesting a movie but "Adam Sandler's Eight Crazy Nights" is a very good Hanukkah based comedy musical written and starring Adam Sandler. I highly recommend.

What made this film even cooler/funnier when it came out was that the 80s was SERIOUSLY out of fashion. No joke, everything deemed 80s was deemed uncool, especially the fashion. This not only highlighted some of that but reminded us that there was actually some fun stuff there.

I grew up watching this movie , so i did saw it as a comedy first...obviously after teens i see it romance first now. Its just a amazing type of count what you have now and not what you dont have love story. Great movie and sountrack keeps you in the 80s era.

Fun fact: in the comedy "Airheads", four years prior, Adam Sandler and Steve Buscemi - the obnoxious best man at the start of the movie - are actually two thirds of the heavy metal band that is the focus of the movie: drummer and bassist respectively. Their singer/guitarist is played by Brendan Fraser. Also a very fun watch, by the way.
