The Weeping Angels are some of the most iconic monsters in the modern era of Doctor Who, but what if I told you there were more to these villains than meets the eye and that they have had more appearances than you might think. Hope you enjoy, remember to leave a like and subscribe

In the "Doctor Who" episode "The Time of Angels" (Season 5, Episode 4), it's suggested that the Weeping Angels might have originated from a race called the Aplans. The Aplans used a form of time travel involving "quantum-locking" themselves into stone statues to survive a war. Over time, they evolved into the Weeping Angels. This information was revealed by River Song when examining ancient cave paintings that depicted both the Weeping Angels and the Aplans. However, it's important to note that "Doctor Who" often leaves certain aspects of its lore open to interpretation and mystery.

fun fact: During the shooting of the "weeping angels" they used a bicycle seat on the weeping angel costumes where the actors can sit while shooting anyways the director discussed about what to eat to the weeping angel prop for like some time until someone pointed it out... thats how good the prop makers are

The angel wasn't moving in the episode, it was being observed in the time the lights were blinking on and off, it was moving slightly between flickers and the almost stop motion movement of the angel is a result of that.

I think that fr the most part the writers knock weeping angles out of the park. their fist apprence is great as they are a very scary and intriuging monster. and thier second appernce brings it to a whol nother level as it makes it known there is no way to simply trap them like the first time and extremley ups their powerlevel. the 3rd one is confusing and makes people doubt thier own world and also is just fun. it also shows haow people interacti with them. and the finall apperce seems to make the "more normal" s they have more complex motives then "Get this powersource or stay alive" and are actully working for somebody showing heirarcil structures.

Here's what I don't understand tho: The weeping angels move very fast. They move when they're not being observed. But in the show, it almost seems like you need to look at the statue version of the angel first to activate it. If they move that fast, why can't they just attack from behind before a person can even figure out what's going on? Also, if they can only move like a few yards per blink, how fast are they really?

@@TheMelonerProductions123 Even in the villiage of the angels, I keep thinking ... if the angels started moving as soon as a person's eyes closes, why do they gotta appear in front of the person's face once they open their eyes again after blinking? These are the most terrifying villains/monster ever in my opinion. They aren't terrifying in appearance, they are terrifying in concept and behaviour. The fact they are so fast and can only be stopped forever if they look at each over. The loneliest creatures ever. When they killed that soldier, they ripped out his cerebral cortex and communicated through him. Wtf, they are so freaking terrifying.

It is kind of bullshit overpowered though that to stop a Weeping Angel you have to look at it but looking at it means it can now possess your brain and you become one yourself. Like yeah, the concept of them was creepy, but everything since then has just made me less interested in them drastically, what next? The Doctor is ACTUALLY a Weeping Angel mutant? The Timeless Child was just a Weeping Angel all along? It's a bit silly.
@QuantumLockedInStone
@QuantumLockedInStone 6 ай бұрын
Well with the "possessing brains" part it has to be that you look into their for eyes for too long which is probably 10 minutes or more (because of how long Amy was there looking at the Angel when it came from the television) is when they can do that, Look anywhere else on them and they can't

I still think we’ve never seen an angel move because in that one episode, the lights were flashing on and off rapidly like a strobe light so when the light was off, the angel would move well wen they came back on they would stop. So it was more like stop motion, animation. Then actually watching them move
@Acrossus
@Acrossus 2 ай бұрын
I think what went on about the Weeping Angel statue moving its head was probably because they might have learned to move between the frames of film. Which might explain why their head moved so slowly while also being a statue. It was actually moving between the frames of the film but at the frame of film they stopped, and they did this a lot so its kind of like stop motion. Since the angles are so fricking fast at both moving and locking its not entirely impossible that they have learned to move between frames of films.

just wanted to say that in angels take Manhattan, there are 2 statues that don't look like angels but at first we see that they sometimes leave the place they are supposed to be at, and at the end of the episode they get rid off the crazy guy who tried to study angels

I'm passionately interested in this cave drawings thing? I crave to know more about this mysterious Mandela effect. As for the Angels, if one were to delve into the way off terrifying world of DW Expanded Media with Faction Paradox, there have been a few allusions to them maybe having an origin as living stone creatures from the previous universe who fled the Time Lords and evolved into living ideas and concepts to survive in our universe. But I'm still curious about this cave painting thought of yours tbh.

@dwfan91- scp is a universe. It's just a collection of technical documents that a bunch of horror writers on a forums put together. Scp-173 is a cement and rebar statue, and was a the 1st scp (on the "something rotten fourms" back when the internet was smaller) and the story was dated before the premiere of weeping angels. Also, "mimicking human voices" is also a ability of a 1st generation scp of a different number (forgotten which number) it's basically a skinless lizard that is sentive to light and hunts using sound, but cruelly mimics the victims voice/death-cries so more will come to help with the expressed goal of ultimately become the monsters feed. Edit Was just saying I saw the cut scene, and I thought of scp173 and weeping angels and Google what was 1st

That's cool- I don't think Steven Moffat ripped them off though. Both ideas, I would assume, are based on the playground game 'What's the time Mr Wolf' and the episode Blink is adapted from a Doctor Who annual story from 2005. Still, it's very interesting that two similar concepts would be introduced in the same year
