I woke up one morning, and tuned in Don Imus's MSNBC show on the TV. He had Levon on, and after the set wrapped up, Don said, "If you don't do nothing else in your life, go get a ticket to Levon's Midnight Ramble, which is a concert and Jam Session held every Saturday night at Levon's Home and studio in Woodstock, NY. You'll always be glad you did." So I went right out, bought two tickets, and drove up there from Maryland to celebrate my wedding anniversary with my wife. It was one of the highlights of my musical life. Got to talk to Levon, shake his hand and thank him for all the joy he'd brought to my life. He was just the nicest man you can imagine. And Imus was right, I am still glad I did. ;-)

For me, Levon Helm is one of the all-time great musicians. Besides his phenomenal drum skills combined with his soulfull Southern voice, he brought music that touched the heart directly. So pure, enlightening, fragile and powerful at the same time. Levon Helm brought real life to the stage with his music in a humble way and full of gentleness. The joy for the music and letting the other band members excel. All that was Levon at his very best. Thank you Levon of what you gave me and the world. You are a jewel that I will cherish forever.

This was probably rehearsed once, then they went live. James Taylor fucked up because he got caught up in the moment. it happens. It's live.

Levons claim that Robbie ripped them off makes no sense at all. Think about, who in their right mind would continue to record records with someone that was ripping them off ? If it was true why didn't Levon an the rest of the guys sue Robbie for their share ? Why would Levon be pissed that Robbie wanted to call it quits if he was ripping them off. It's amazing how many gullible people there are.

Emmylou and Levon so perfectly complement each other, especially in "Evangeline" from The Last Waltz. She does an amazing duet with James Taylor on the 3rd verse here. What an incredible version all around

Was at Borders book store bout 20 years ago when "Like A Rolling Stone" came on the piped music spkrs. I thought to myself, *"YES!!!"* A few minutes into the song I overheard some poor deprived millenial larvae say to his poor deprived millennial larvar girlfriend, "Thats a cool song. It sounds like that guy from the Wallflowers." I dropped what I was doing, went straight home, took several shots of Mescal (4, but not in a row) and cried myself to sleep thinking, "Dang! I'm old...and irrelevant." Woke up the next day and my friends laughed their asses off when I related that tragic, but silly incident to them. Haha! It's still funny whenever I think about it.
