I watched all of them after Kizuna, to soothe my sadness. These 5 short films were great, most memorable ones are "Sora and Piyomon", showing their time together(probably last) which never shown in the movie, and how exactly Sora made her life decicion. Also the one with "Pumpkinmon and Gotsumon's return", don't know its canon or no, but its good to see these two again still having fun at Shibuya.

If it is them. Then that means that digimon killed in the real world can be reborn somehow, which means Wizardmon, meicoonmon, and leomon can come back...scratch that she was in Kizuna so maybe Gennai was wrong or maybe there was some reason he told that they can't.🤔 If it is them it's weird that gotsumon is still a rookie while pumpkinmon is still an ultimate even though they died at the same time.

Huh, when I watched Kizuna I never got the impression that she didn't fight due to evolution shortening Biyomon's time with her, just that she wanted to do her own thing and didn't want to fight. Granted I also missed that Biyomon had also vanished as well, off screen.

It was pretty subtle. There is a scene at the end where she is in her room at night looking out the window and holding her digivice. If you look at the digivice, which does get a screen focus moment, it has turned to stone.

Its amazing how Sora personality in series to this movie is completely upside down. In OG series as the one that hold the symbol of love, she several time risking her life behind the scene to support other without other realizing it. In Kizuna movie, she instead prioritise her own feeling, she don't want to lose Biyomon that become one and only pillar of support to her considering her struggle with her current life.

@@thedigiknowI don’t think its a misunderstanding, her “growth” is putting herself before others, while in the original she always puts others before herself. In the original Sora would go out of her way to help the others, while here she’s deliberately not replying to the others, its showing us that she won’t be involved, its showing us she’s restraining herself from it. I know its weird that her being selfish is considered “growth” but its part of changing, this time she’s putting her wants/needs first, not her the other digidestine, not her mother’s.

@@Snaaaaap Cause she never ignores those responsibilities, even when its not even her responsibility, that was her thing, she was too selfless that she didn’t even know what she wants, so now she’s putting herself above others first. Growth doesn’t have to have benefit for everyone, just yourself, growth is just changing as a person, and she knows her friends and the other digidestines can handle it without her, and we see that through their group chat, had they be in trouble Sora wouldn’t hesitate on joining and without even the knowledge of Biyomon disappearing Sora chose to not fight, the opposite of what she did in Adventure where she went out of her way to help everyone, now that she’s figuring out what/who she wants to be, she’s standing her ground and chose not to participate. Just because she doesn’t want to become the strong warrior girl that everyone wanted her to be doesn’t mean that she’s not growing.

As a child I used to watch digimon a lot so seeing the characters I grew up with older just like I am kinda hurts in a way sometimes I wish I could go back to the way things were but everyone grows up it was only a matter of time yet it also gives me comfort about the change that has happened the series will always have a special place in my heart

I liked what they did with to sora, in the original I felt that she was the most mature out of the digi destined so it makes sense that with the themes of Kizuna being growing up and accepting that sora would be the first to reach that stage and lose her digimon before anyone else as she is closer to her goals than the other characters. just how I read the situation

But it is also the one that makes least sense, Sora knew before hand that digivolution will shortern her time with Biyomon, she doesn't tells this to anyone else, and also ends being the first one to lose her partner, despite the fact that she went out of her way to not participate on any battles, not being active on most of the 02 run time, or any of the 2 movies, and not being the first one to unlock evolution when it comes to her peers By all means the short works really well as a stand alone story, and then it falls apart when Kizuna adds in context, it makes her look selfish for keeping crucial information to herself, but also makes the writers look mean for going out of their way to fuck her over without any good basis despite her actively taking countermeasures for a plot point which the ending of 02 already denied, then again it is the same people that made Genai a sex offender, so it is on brand if they can't make a good plot

How would you feel if your friend randomly told you that you don't have a lot of time for your digimon and that everytime you battle that time gets shorter every time thye digivolve. Imagine having those thoughts when you battle digimon attacking your city or attacking the world. What would you do with that information? Is she still being selfish? yeah i won't deny that and it doesn't change the fact that they will find out about that later when it happens to another one of their friends and they meet them and seeing them grieving over their loss

I'm discovering a lot of things i missed out and experiencing as a kid thanks to videos like this. Back then the internet was a lot different and it was used only by nerds. A kid can't really do anything about products being made in a different country and not becoming global. If your parent isn't a gamer or anime lover then the chances of you discovering these things is even lower. It sucks

The Biyomon and Palmon made me confused. It implied Gatomon and Hawkmon can Digivolve and even Jogress without the Digidestined... The visual of Detective coat Veemon and Gabumon in a suit was epic. Though the designs for Gotsumon and Pumpkinmon go weirdly hard!

I've always wanted to see a jogress evolution for Biyomon and Palmon. Perhaps a LadyOmnimon, fused by Hououmon and Rosemon. I've seen a fanart of that and it looks so good. Plus those two were introduced in the ver. 4 v-pet so they clearly have a connection in some way.

@@Digi_Danny You're not really making sense. You're saying it like no digimon can evolve without a human which simply isn't true. How many wild digimon do we see that aren't rookies or have a human partner? I think the digivices are privileged items, which they are if you really thinking about it they are since only a handful of chosen kids get them, so they are privileged and "special" and they just help their digimon partners to be able to access their powers more easily. Digivolving takes a lot of energy from the digimon, hence why they always seem to want food to restore that energy they used up to transform and stay in those forms. I think it might take a lot of toll on digimon to evolve and stay evolved, but having a human with a device like the digivice shares the humans energy with the digimons and it helps the digimon not take as much energy or toll from doing it. The digivice seems to like help contain and control that energy and connects them together. It's a symbiotic relationship. This makes a lot of sense when you factor in that the more times the digimon partners of humans digivolve they are loosing time and energy and their connection to their human. The digivice connects them and is their lifeblood. When agumon and agumon disappeared next to tai and matt its because they ran out of energy = ran out of time and the digivice was eating that energy to help them out. Kids have a lot of potential and energy and when they become adults they loose it. The digivice's battery is the energy and potential the human kids have and gives that energy to their digimon partners which gives them a huge boost which they wouldn't normally get in the wild and would probably take decades to evolve naturally. When the kid grows up all that energy and potential is gone so the digivice has no use for them and when it goes so does the digimon

In the US and Canada, you can play Japanese Blu-ray, as you're both in the same region; Region A. It's only if you live in Regions B and C where you can't play them. also, you do not need to import a Blu-ray player from Japan, you just need a multi-region Blu-ray player which are sold worldwide. They are just more expensive than regular Blu-ray players are.

I watched the Sora short after watching Last Evolution when it first came out in the States and again recently and a part of me still can’t believe that our time with these characters are over. I know we might never get another anime in the main adventure timeline but I think it will be cool to see the characters just trying to live their lives without their Digimon and how they are trying to move on after losing them(years before the 02 epilogue of course)

In the last ep of the of adventure 2 we see a future where they are reunited. My guess is they find a way. My headcannon is that while the youth have the passive potential to grow , thus fueling their partners, adults have the potential to change the world thought their actions. This would theorically give adults a even higher amount of potential then children but it must be actively earned, thus in order to reunite with their digimon the digidestin will need to awaken this greater potential.

Thinking about it, the best form for Biyomon and Palmon to take after WARP DNA digivolving would be Ceresmon. There's the bird aspects and the plant aspects to Ceresmon and she would also parallel Omnimon by also being a member (or being of a species that has an individual that is a member) of a higher order pantheon that protects a version of the digital world. If you really want, you could even have Biyomon be the bird part while Palmon becomes the human part.

I didn't even know these shorts were a thing, and honestly they're everything I want out of future Adventure content. If they ever want to bring Adventure back again (which lets face it they probs will because they simply NEED to keep justifying 02's ending) I'd love to see it brought back as a more slice of life thing set in the same world with kids just doing mundane shit, have it pick up as they get their partner Digimon back as promised at the end of that film. Digimon's strength has always been the characters and their relationships with one another, we don't need a world ending threat because IMO Kizuna has such a perfect final villain for these character. Besides, there's bigger problems to solve:, Matt hit the sauce heavy one night and has lost his keys, will the gang be able to find them?! Izzy's struggling to pick out a perfect tie for his day because he's got a important meeting AND a date right after work. TK goes to get his morning coffee but the place he frequents is closed for the day, so him and Patamon have a mate date with Ken and Wormmon after he recommends them a place.

...I think because Sora was one of my favourite characters from the show, 'To Sora' really, REALLY did not feel right. To me it felt like they intentionally screwed her over just so they could have an excuse to cut the girls out completely. I seem to remember that Sora's whole point of growth was supposed to be a growing point for her mother too - the whole point was that they were supposed to better understand each other, and Sora putting all her time into the flower arranging thing feels like an intentional character regression. The fact that Sora removed herself completely from the action just sounds... very not Sora. The only reason I can possibly understand for this happening, is an attempt to shut down Sora as an active participant in part due to the passing of her original voice actress - a kind of "If it can't be her, nobody's allowed to be Sora". This is a very outdated way of doing things, but I know it used to be a pretty common thing done in Japanese anime (although it was never a hard and fast rule). This is despite the fact that Sora already had a new voice actress, because Yuko Mizutani had already stepped away from the role before Tri, and Suzuko Mimori was already doing a very good job in the role. Unless Mimori was becoming increasingly harder to get ahold of for recordings, there's no excuse for this. This makes me wonder if Sora's weird Eco-Warrior thing from the reboot is an intentional attempt to make it more fitting that she would choose this action of wanting to depart from active fighting completely. In the original series, I'm pretty sure Mimi was more likely to be the Eco-Warrior (and her Digimon and choice of outfit better reflects this - she even has a key moment where she clearly states she doesn't want to fight). Mimi in the reboot instead has the 'female leader' role, and her family plays a role in her motives, so it's like Sora and Mimi have been swapped (although Sora retains her soccer interest). The whole thing is just... odd.

I don’t think its a character regression from both her and her mother. Her growth is putting herself first before others and what she wants now is to stay away from the fights and arranging the flowers the way she wanted it and not how her mother wants. Similar to how Mimi’s growth went from not wanting to fight and wanting to fight so the innocent won’t get hurt, I know it sounds like one is more negative growth while the other is positive growth, but I honestly don’t see it that way, Sora not participating in a fight doesn’t mean she’s regressing as a character, her not wanting to participate because she doesn’t want to and she’s putting herself first, though I kind of agree with you about the creators giving Sora the short end of the stick. While I haven’t watched the 2020 reboot yet but I’m not a fan of the characters directions and writing it felt like they wrote the characters exactly how the fans wanted it, which is.. sure okay, but it does felt like half the digimon fandom (mostly in the west) completely misunderstood the characters or just wants them to be a certain way.

@@Freezient The problem is that she had a lot of growth as a character, and now deciding what she wants to do, she's not only all a tizzy (which to be fair, is fine, we all have our moments of stress), but she's also suddenly gone from being a tomboy at the start to a complete, total and utter 180 by 'To Sora'. I know she was embracing more of her femininity come Tri, but a total 180 does not feel right. It feels like they pigeon-holed her because they didn't know what to do with her. They were also too afraid to potentially break canon, because obviously, Sora has to go into fashion (it's her job at the end of 02), so I think they overcompensated by making her a Japanese gender appropriate stereotype instead. (speaking of weird things that don't fit Sora... has nobody questioned why her hair is bright orange, but both her parents have brown hair? And it's not like she dyes it, her hair has ALWAYS been bright orange. Even her grandfather doesn't have it (which means presumably it comes from the not present other grandparents). This is just another reason why I didn't expect her to go down such a traditional route despite her family heritage being in Ikebana - appearance-wise, she really does stand out) With regards to the 2020 reboot, I don't think they KNOW what the fans want. So they - again - overcompensated. I won't spoil if you're gonna watch it, but there's a good reason a large chunk of the audience ain't happy.

@@Tazer_Silverscar If one of your main gripes is her going from tomboy to more feminine then I’m afraid you yourself misunderstood her character, this is something unfortunately a lot of the dub watchers were pissed off about but Sora isn’t just “the tomboy girl” she’s more than that, she can have interests that she no longer have growing up, she replaced soccer with tennis as a compromise to get closer to her mother. I haven’t watch Adventure in so long I don’t think we’ve seen her grandpa did we? Unless you mistaken her father as her grandfather. Anyway I think it just might be anime/cartoon and that her hair is supposed to be just brown. Oh despite the 2020 artists doesn’t know what the fans wants they certainly make the characters spot on to what they want it seems. I don’t think I’ll be watching it

@@Freezient I get that characters need to be complex, but they also need to be recognisable, and when they start to drift a lot, they can alienate watchers. One of the advantages of her being a soccer player is that it made her a solid team player socially, and it made her develop a familial bond with her friends, something she was sorely lacking at home, in a family that was very much trying to make her only focus on the family business - a business that by design is quite isolating (Ikebana teachers usually have very few students so they can essentially craft 'the perfect heir' - it's common among many traditional trades in Japan). In the scene that explained Sora's rift with her mother, there IS an argument that Toshiko was just trying to make sure Sora wasn't playing on her injured leg, but the way she phrased her argument in the scene suggests that she was more interested in ensuring Sora was more befitting of an heir, which would have inevitably meant forcing Sora to abandon her soccer playing completely anyway (and Sora initially interpreted it this way). Sora having changed to tennis (which is not really a team game) I guess was a sign that she was already starting to drift to Toshiko's point of view, and being more solitary. Yes, there was the point of wanting to connect more to her mother to try mend the rift, as she herself used to play tennis, but you can't really say that her compromise didn't cause her to lose the strong spirit and passion she once shared with her friends. She's even lamenting on the fact that she could never just have a 'normal' life at the end of 'To Sora' - and while being a digi-destined is part of that, it also includes the fact that she still feels forced into the role of being heir to an Ikebana Grand Master - and we know she eventually does not become one, as her career takes a different path by the end of 02 (although it's still within that traditional stereotype). Huh. Turns out I was mistaken about seeing her grandfather. The screenshot I mis-interpreted is from a different Digimon series. Either way, her bright orange hair still makes her stand out - in a way that traditionally is not acceptable in Japan - especially if you're in a family that places strong emphasis on tradition - and it's never suggested she has any foreign family members. Her hair is very specifically orange, and this is not a mistake that occurs with any other family, so it is very deliberate - everyone else has either brown or very dark blue hair (this shade of blue is regularly used as an alternate to black, as solid black is very hard to shade), or they have known family members who are not Japanese (Yamato and Takeru's mother is half French, for example). Yeah, I think they've kinda become blinkered, there's a lot of stuff that just really didn't work in that reboot. I think it felt very rushed too.

But yeah I think you do get her character a bit, her growth is not really pleasing her friends or her mother, but just be to be herself and be selfish when all her life she always puts others before her, and soccer doesn’t seem to interest her anymore, in the end she ended up rebelling against what her mother wants for her anyway, and just going with what she wants instead, but she also combining what she wants and the traditional japanese arts that she grew up with in her design

Huh, well, this was very interesting, I wish we could’ve gotten these. Anyway, the moments where the Digimon even just have a conversation with each other have always been my favorite moments and I wish we could’ve just gotten more focused on that. Anyway, so, did Kizuna retcon the 02 Epilogue? What exactly happened to the Digimon?

I’ll try not to reveal much so that I don’t spoil anything major (just in case you haven’t watched) but as someone who watched the next movie, Digimon Adventure 02: The Beginning, I think they’re still on track to reaching towards the 02 Epilogue. In some ways I’m relieved that The Beginning was just one stage rather than a rushed story that sends straight towards the 02 Epilogue, rather, the way The Beginning ended allows them to have a bit more story to tell after, hopefully, cause I think a quest that explains how Agumon and the rest comes back to them deserves some sort of a whole story and explanation itself

I really miss Digimon. I'd love a new 25+ episode series, but failing that, I'd like access to the previous dubbed seasons on dvd/blu-ray or on a streaming service I already have, (I realize they might be on a streaming service I don't got, but still) or even back on tv. Its also sad they never re-released/remastered/remaked any of the old games like the data squad one (I missed out on it the first time) or the weird one "Digimon World 4".

I’m not sure if the Gotsumon and Pumpkinmon one is supposed to be canon and that its showing us that they never actually died, and it kinda pisses me off, its such an out of nowhere thing to do, they could’ve just have ut be Gabunon and Patamon reminiscing their time in the human world, making up stories about them, but if that’s not the case then why don’t they just bring back Wizardmon then? Also I actual quite like the Sora short one, it goes with her character development too, its about her putting herself first. I really wish more people would make a character deep dive i’ve been reading about the novels and other side stuff and learned some interesting details about them.

I still think in a future digimon adventure movie that agumon and gabumon will return because agumon says he gets the feeling he will see tai again, and adventure 02 ends with all of them having their digimon again. In all of the world games and even the canon, Digimon evolve to survive and live longer. The Royal Knights are some of the oldest Digimon out there IIRC and pretty much all of them are mega or higher in evolution. That being said, I can totally understand how ''forcing'' evolution through digivices (which can get Digimon to grow rapidly in an unnatural way, taking them beyond their natural limit) could shorten their lifespan though. It must be like overclocking a GPU. Sure, you get a burst of performance, but you do so at the risk of lasting damage to the hardware. It's not unlike the Kaioken from DBZ or other such limit-breaking techniques/methods in other series, I guess. Yet another reminder that training long and hard, growing and developing properly (slowly over time) will always be superior to jumping ahead with shortcuts. It's kinda like the ''winners don't do drugs'' saying lmao.

I honestly hated this reboot/continuation of Digimon all around. I think it's because of who I am as a person. I felt like the ending where the Digimon fade out of existence was like watching someone I grew up with and care about give up on themselves and their dreams. I wish we just got more from the original cast in general. "Growing older" being the thing that forces them to change cast was the most annoying thing in the world to me as a kid. Suddenly they were "too old" to join in the adventure even though they were still kids anyway just "too old" kids. On the one hand you have Ash who stayed 10 years old for 20 years and the other hand you have Digimon which is much much less successful but people age in it. I loved the first series and some of the later ones but quickly stopped watching entirely as new people coming on every new season got so boring and tiring

I found Sora's story kind of messed up, choosing her own path is Horse Poopy. She was forced as a 10 year old into child labor, seems to have been forced to conform to dated gender norms, & had to abandon her passion, fearing that her mother wouldn't lover unless she did. Now the kids she fought along side often forget about her, seem depressed & is under a lot of stress. I'm sorry but she should be put on suicided watch. Are we sure the villains didn't win, because everyone's life kind of sucks?
