Actually, that concept for jumping on a matress with red wine on it commercial was definitely shown in the US like 18-10 years ago, for Tempur-pedic.

The last one Garnt mentions is the ad for Guinness called "Surfer" from 1999 - that's instantly recognisable. I'd say most Brits that care would say it's the best advert ever shown on British TV, very iconic. Here's to you, Ahab.

15:52 The ad Garnt was talking about is a Guinness bear ad. It was featured in the advertising area of the Guinness experiential museum in Ireland, I remember seeing it when I went. The ad definitely left an impression, apparently won a lot of awards.

Directed by Jonathan Glazer. He also did the amazing video for Jamiroquai's "Virtual Insanity" and a couple videos for Radiohead ("Street Spirit (Fade Out)" and "Karma Police"). He's also done a few features too.

there's one SEA advertisement that I saw long ago that still sticks with me to this day. I *think* that it's a Thai ad, but I'm not 100% certain. it's basically a short story about a young orphan who gets helped by a noodle shop owner & the owner's daughter. then fast forward many years, the noodle shop owner is either physically injured or sick or both & he's admitted to a hospital. the daughter of the noodle shop owner receives a crazy expensive hospital bill & starts stressing out/crying about how she's going to afford it, but then it's revealed that the doctor who helped the noodle shop owner is none other than the young orphan kid from the beginning. so the doctor proceeds to help treat the old noodle shop owner & give him medication for free, erasing the hospital bill that the daughter originally was given. obviously this ad was something that was passed around on social media a lot, I think it became quite popular on Facebook during the early 2010s or so. I have to say that I don't care at all about what it was trying to sell to the viewers, the story was quite wholesome & enjoyable.

Yep, it was an advertisement for a Thai insurance company. I remember having it shared all around Facebook in my country around 2012 and again in 2015.

I do remember us Swedes used to be really good at commercials. But nowadays, as people stop watching TV, the only ads that are left are lazily dubbed extreamly boring english ads and online casinos. Dear dog, the online casino ads. I frickin hate those online casino ads. They literally make me turn the TV off so I can watch a black empty screen for 15 minutes until I realize that I can spend my time doing something productive. It's gotten to the point that I am now very much in favour of just outright criminalizing all gambling. If a political party said they want gambling companies to be illegal, I would vote for them outright. They could be friggin neo-nazi's and I'd still be going "yeah, sure, their core beliefs are rotten and their leadership would lead to a totalitarian dictatorship with no freedoms of any kind for anyone except the wealthy elite... But they did say they will ban gambling outright..." Ok. I may have more moral fiber in my bones than that. But damn it.. what societal gains do we get from gambling firms? None. Oh and by the way, noone asked, but, fudge telemarketing as well... They serve no good for humanity...

The Thai ads that I watched as a kid and really sticks out to me is an ads .357 energy drink. I saw the ads on youtube but I couldn't find the one with eng subtitle. kzbin.info/www/bejne/pKq5iYyLq7J3m8k For Context of the ad: There's a devil who works in hell. One day, he lost his job in hell bc there's not many people die. So, he tried to find on earth instead. Then, during the time he works at food stall to sell Youtiao(ปาท่องโป๋/Pa-tong-go in Thai) with an old man, he sensed a man with a sign that he will die soon. So, the devil prayed this man to die to get his job back in hell and the man got hit by car while crossing the road to buy the new .357 energy drink and getting distracted by a women. The devil was happy and tried to rush back to hell. But then, the man got up and buy the energy drink and the ad is end with the slogan ".357 must try....in this lifetime."
