Would love to try one but the price is too high to try without more exposure. 295 in the US makes it hard to go out in a limb for something that seems interesting but could could fail in testing. Gotta be tough for small golf companies.

Worth it to me, I'm a better putter with mine, 28 handicap the 3 putts have become 2 putts.

I have used one for two months now. Probably around 8 rounds. I feel it is an extension of myself. I feel my putts roll on a truer line. I feel like I have full control of the speed and direction. It is like I am rolling the ball from my hand. It was hard at first. Once I started practicing with it and stroking it in the center it felt great. I like it.

The concept makes complete sense.....Would be good to get it on the putt lab and see its roll characteristics.
@FF04RDF6 ай бұрын
It makes sense and most people will see the logic unlike lots of ‘wacky’ golf products. When you think of a traditional putter face, there is only a very small part of the flat face actually contacts the spherical golf ball. This putter is kind of just doing the same thing ? Interesting stuff.

Had mine around 2 months now, I feel it's made my putting better, it does scoop the ball if the connection isnt central, don't pull the grip too far ahead of the face. £236 and delivered in 7 days... it works for me, scottie c's cost £450.. That's what me mates paid at thier times of purchase.

I wrote the comment about long putts. I had trouble keeping them on the ground. I knew it was my technique and not the putter. I did take it out of the bag for awhile, but I have since put it back in as I learned to place ball further up in my stance. I was happy to see your trusted review and get mentioned on your channel!

I bought one of these a few months ago, best putter I ever had. Super easy to hit down the line and great speed control. Took minimal time to get used to it and improved my putting immediately. Do agree the longer puts take some practice, it's all about coming into the ball level. Everything inside 12ft is solid from the get.

Hey! Looks like an evolution of the Teardrop putters that had a convex face like that. Only the strike point is higher up. The sole also seems to be designed for those shots where you'd belly a wedge. Might be a great one for folks who love to putt from off the green. Are you enjoying the Vice Air? Would love to see a comparison of the Vice lineup with some launch monitor numbers. I liked the Pro Soft so Air would probably be the one I'd play, I would guess.

First look at the putter, I see two problems. Changing the distance of the putter from the ground changes where the putter hits the ball. Since the ball is round, the higher you hit on it will drastically change the speed of the ball off the face. Changing the angle of your putter face will change how the ball comes off as well. Therefore, if you like to tip the putter head forward, you will hit lower on the ball. If you keep your putter flat, you will hit higher on the ball. If the face of the putter was round and slightly taller than the ball, it would eliminate any changes in the tip of the head. You would still run into problems where the putter head being slightly higher would change the roll of the ball. It would be interesting to set up a pendulum. Putt 10 balls with the putter head just off the ground. Then putt 10 more with the putter head 1/4" higher and see the difference in distance. If there is a pretty big difference between the two, then I don't think it's a great putter. Putting is all about consistency. Whatever putter design gives you the most consistent results.

You know what, that looks cool. The contact area between ball and putter is miniscule, thinking about it.

I bought one of the original Teardrops on a golf trip to Myrtle Beach (Teardrop's original home) in the early 90s. I loved it and still have it but I don't use it anymore because I'm too self conscious with it. The marketing pitch for the rounded hitting surface was all about the roll - more pure roll from the start rather than a skid or backspin.
@jameskinsey78666 ай бұрын
@@mphtexas8713 I live in Murrell's Inlet very close to Myrtle Beach. Found out about the teardrop putters when the Pro-Am players received on as a gift. It was in the early 90's. I think the company was just starting up at that time.

instead of the ball making contact, skidding along for the first few feet then starting to roll, this putter's concept is made to make the bal roll forward right off the putter face which should equal a straighter line on putts. This should catch on..

I kind of want to see a slow motion shot of the ball taking the hop on the longer putt, to see if the face is coming in below the middle of the golf ball and popping it up, or if the face is coming above the middle, and bouncing it off the grass. I kind of suspect the latter, which is a bit of an inherent problem with the design. pretty forgiving for low impact, but with more force, that face shape means any vertical deviation will either lift the ball, or push it down.
@paulmcgee18676 ай бұрын

Almost all puts ended up on the cup right side. Is that you or the need for the putter shaft to be fit to you a bit better? I never observed that skid on the grass before rolling with your putts. The ball seemed to have a "pure" roll (whatever that means). Interesting review.
@johngardner40326 ай бұрын
Llook way back to the "Teardrop" been there done that.
@cliftonmanley38826 ай бұрын
If you can hit it out of thick grass, rolling it on top of said thick grass then it's doing it's job. You can't tell by hitting it on short grass. The ball has to be lifted out of its depression first, THEN rolled. What is it actually doing? Lifting then rolling? Or rolling it through the grass... The bouncing from a distance seems to support the latter. The loft on a normal putter is meant for lifting the ball out of its depression and then rolling it... not many understand that.

I remember those and this review got me curious enough that I jumped on eBay and snagged one for $20 with shipping. I got my Teardrop before the KZbin affect resulted in all the cheap ones being snapped up and the rest doubling in price. This is a common thing when KZbin golf club buyers, sellers and collectors Jon and Ashley from the Stacked Golf channel find anything unusual, or that is hidden bargain.

Alex, the most impressive thing on this video was how you could throw four golf balls on the green and have them all be equidistant and exactly 10 feet from the cup. Most impressive. Somewhat less impressive: the short pants and opening a box with your fingernail. You need to up the manly content on your channel by wearing full length pants, or shorts when/if you actually get warm summer days in the UK, not those culottes. Plus, you need to whip out a manly-sized knife, give it a casual flick to open and slice open those boxes with the razor sharp edge. But otherwise a really good video and keep up the good work.
