I now have both the 143 and 453. And since I own the “updated” 143, I definitely prefer the layout of the ladder. If it wasn’t for that 3 o’clock dial marker, I’d probably like the 143 a bit more, especially with that pretty dial.

Yeah, Seiko is (trying to) improving evrerything... except the accuracy ! By the time you empty the power reserve, the time is off by about a minute. 🙄 So what's the point ?! 🤨 I have the small lum at 3 version, and I'm selling it.

I might be in a minority, but I think details like date windows, rivets on bracelets, snowflake hands etc. are really prominent when looking at macros - but when you actually wear the watch, it becomes a part of the package.

The biggest change for me on the new Seiko MAS range is the ever so slightly smaller numerals on the bezel, which allows the full scale to be put on there. This sounds ludicrous but I think it completely changes the way the watch looks for the better. I thought the numerals dominated the dial slightly before.

I really hope the updated Seikos are lighter than their predecessors. I have an SPB143 and it’s surprisingly heavy. Mostly due to the bracelet. It’ll just help the watch wear better in general.

I more grateful for my spb143. The round (much prefer square) 4:30 date is a deal breaker and I don’t like the 3 days. I also prefer the sunray grey dial and brushed bezel than a matte black dial that’s been taken out of the willard spb317 and matte black bezel.
