"Why are Keith Moon's headphones taped to his head?" Oh Grasshopper, there is so much yet for you to learn.
@jerrypost965111 ай бұрын
The headphones are taped to Keith's head to keep them from flying off when he gets frenetic!

Their performance of "Won't Get Fooled Again" from the same Shepperton Studios gig is one of the greatest live performances you'll ever seen from any band. When The Who were recording this performance for their "The Kids Are Alright" movie, in the studio next door, the movie "Alien" was being filmed. The cast and crew of "Alien" took a break and went over to watch The Who gig. They liked the laser show at the end of "Won't Get Fooled Again" so much, they borrowed the laser equipment from The Who and used it in the "Alien" movie. So the next time you watch Alien, keep an eye out for The Who's lasers.

I am so privileged to have grown up with bands such as The Who. I am 73 tomorrow & going through some of my best albums & tunes. & watching you guys react.

Won't Get Fooled Again is definitely the best performance I have ever seen. Few things in this world are as beautiful as the joy in that performance. You should check it out

This is my favourite live performance of Baba O'Riley. I'd recommend watching the whole of The Kids are Alright Movie. It's a compilation of live performances and interviews between 1964 and 1978.

Please do Who Are You. Great song and the video is soooo much fun, showing the comraderie and real affection between the band members. It's labelled Promo Video. You'll love it.

As is "compulsory" to mention when viewing the Shepperton performances...Sadly Keith Moon only had 3 and a bit months to live;these were his final performances with the band😢🎩

Awesome! Did you notice that Keith Moon was keeping time in the beginning by playing on the edge of the drums? Taped headphones to keep them on. Thanks for all you do. Have a great 2024.

These guys were awesome. The energy level that they have in these vids was constant throughout their entire concerts. Didn't get to see them do Tommy, but I have seen them 4 or 5 times. (Old Fart at Large...) Studio Version !!! ....................Lazy is still awaiting you. (and 25 or 6 to 4). Kieth's headphones had to be taped on cause they kept flying off. Duct tape was a mandatory accessory in The Who's 'kit. Also req'd for Roger's mike.

The Shepperton studios session was so good another great watch from there is Won't Get Fooled Again itmis spectacular. Keith used to move around so much in performances the headphones would fall off so he used to tape them in place

Anyone notice that John Entwistle (bass) is similar to John Paul Jones of LZ in that they seem to be the adult in the room while everyone else is going nuts! I love it!

Keith Moon always taped his headphones to his head because he had a hard time keeping them in place during performances. BTW, the Muppet that was the drummer was modeled off of Keith Moon and his "free ranging" motions during his shows. You need to see "We Won't Get Fooled Again" from this same show and pay particular attention to Pete at the end. Oh, and in that song you'll get to see a very early laser display - The Who were very early adopters of lasers into their live shows - the technology was very primitive and that makes it even more impressive in this show.

Keith Moon with his headphones taped to his head so they’d actually stay on 😂😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
@russellburress624011 ай бұрын
That is Gaffers tape on Keith's headphones the reason he started doing that is because he gets so animated when he's playing his drums his headphones tended to fly off a lot so you'll notice if you do the promotional video for who are you when they're in the recording studio he still has them taped on

There's a live version of this from, I believe 2015, in England when Pete & Roger were in their late 60's/ early 70's and for my $$$ it's the best live version of Baba O'Riely. With technology, lightshow, Pete and Roger killing it during the harmonica solo at the end and the crowd going absolutely crazy, it's an experience.

Live at Hyde Park? My wife and I were there, right at the front! A brilliant gig!
@donnaholland162511 ай бұрын
I think it was gaffers tape. He had to wear them to keep in time with the synthesizer (? Spelling) anyway they kept coming loose since he moved so much. Keith does rip them off at the end of the live “We won’t get fooled again”. You should watch that live from same show… they go nuts!

I actually studied Tommy whilst in HS. Seriously. The entire album was that semesters English lit class. Amazing how many people in that class were triggered by the subject matter - only no one recognized it for what it was. Truly amazing and important band.

You HAVE to watch The Who’s portion of the Concert for New York. It’s absolutely amazing and it will make you cry watching the 9/11 first responders in the audience jumping up and down and screaming along with them. It’s truly amazing.

As a fan of the Who, The Kids Are Alright is a must watch movie for SG. I was a Who fan in the late 70s, but after watching the movie I became even more of a fan. One of the best rockumentaries ever, imo.

The who definitely has a sweet spa for me. When I was a teenager I had limited funds and I had to make a decision. Do I go with the who or led Zeppelin? And most of my friends were led Zeppelin fans so I chose the who and I have a lot of LPs from them. They really enjoyed that journey as a kid and when I became a young adult and had more funds, I got to experience led Zeppelin at a much deeper level so that was a great journey as well
