And isn't just the act, or how funny he was, or the crazy faces that he made. Besides, it was an outstanding drummer! Must be such an experience to be able to see The Who in 1970. 2:27 Keith Moon: "Go time."
@fredweiss39264 жыл бұрын
That's right he was on the drums, but there he was the purest soloist. He did not play rhythm, he never could. He did not want to. He was hyperactive and played with the music. Many drummers could not do that, they had to submit. Keith never did. Pete wrote the music of the WHO, and Keith was a soloist. He let it really crack. That's the way it was Bonham & Baker went to their music with their tact the same direction.
@RockmasterVideos4 жыл бұрын
Great thinking Fred Weiss, hadn't thought of that but now that I do it is true !
@rodneylee40264 жыл бұрын
He still played in rhythm though.

But also only because Pete Townshend pretended the rhythm. Townshend recently said it was not easy to play with Keith & John and he always made sure to keep the rhythm. He also said that he still misses both today.

100 % agree Textbooks Watchlist. Moon is still (always will be) the best I've seen/heard on drums. Yes, Bonham was awesome & Buddy Rich was a great jazz drummer but Keith Moon was an extension of a drum kit. Glad this concert video is getting many views & likes........so anyone who has never seen them Live can appreciate the incredible sound of The Who !
@ianfreud4 жыл бұрын
stringtension But without Moon would The Who been The Who? It’s symbiotic. Moon was actually a terrible drummer in terms of technique/timekeeping, but if they’d had a ‘normal’ drummer (and bassist) would Pete’s songs have reached the audience they did. The sheer number of comments on Who vids from people who are here primarily to watch Moon suggests maybe not. The whole is greater than the sum of its parts.
@RockmasterVideos4 жыл бұрын

Rockmaster, there are plenty of better jazz drummers than Buddy Rich. Alvin Jones, Roy Haynes, Jo Jones, Philly Joe Jones, Art Blakey just to name a handful that were arguable more musical drummers with more notable discographies. Rich was a massive ego, he was a performer and he did his Schtick in Carson. He was a great showman but so was someone like Jo Jones. Mentioning Rich as the poster boy as the standard bearer of jazz drummers, no thanks, too cliche.

LoL, I agree. It was Summertime, might be a bit more acceptable if it was Halloween during the concert. Pete looks like he's ready to paint a living room with those Painter/ Milkman coveralls he's sporting.

The 2004 or whenever it was remaster is horribly edited. I am not sure if this is whet it is or not. The original 1970's film is quite good but obviously it is of 1970's film quality. Epic concert all around. One of The Who's top 4 or 5 with the original line-up
