“the sheer amount of marketing BEFORE the movie comes out..” that’s.. the entire point of marketing.. you market a movie months in advance and in as many ways as possible, especially a movie people have been wanting for a very long time, like years. I don’t think you understand much how marketing works. Doesn’t have anything to do with “bombardment of products cuz the movies gonna suck or be mid”. It’s highly anticipated. This happens with many highly anticipated films. Not to mention every review of these previews has been nothing but positive from what I’ve seen. Sooooo yeah they’ll be fine.

Barbie is a great example (even if i think Wicked's team spent more than Barbie on the marketing), but so far I'm seeing a lot of positive reviews so I might be totally wrong! I'm a Wicked fan and the sheer amount of collabs and non-stop ads have made me dig my heels in and absolutely refuse to see it, I'm so freaking irritated by it! I know it's good (per the reviews), I know I will like it, but this whole promo situation has incited an absolutely irrational rage in me 😅 I'll catch it if it happens to end up on a streaming service I actually pay for, but I just can't do it... That being said, great video, some of these collabs are just insane and I hadn't caught them all yet!

@marinamcbain it's definitely a good read imo! It's interesting, but it's VERY adult so if you go into it expecting it to be like the musical, you'll be shocked or disappointed maybe? As I said, the musical is very sanitized. Also mention of r-pe early on in the book. It isn't spoken in detail, just brought up, but just for your awareness if that may bother you, I'd research the book a bit before getting into it.

I had the benefit of having read very raunchy titles, so very little can disturb me, and also the benefit of not being a fan of the musical before going in. In fact, there was very little I knew of the musical besides the well known songs and the general plot. I just heard murmurs about how insanely adult oriented the book was and I figured it was just overreacting since that tends to happen. First page of the book, and I was already like... Ooookay, yeah, maybe this IS very adult. It just feels like a REALLY weird title to turn into a musical, a family oriented one at that. It's not like musical theater with adult or raunchy themes don't exist? And it's not like those musicals can't do well, on the contrary there are very many that handle the subject matter well. The sanitization just felt like an odd choice and creates such a deep rift between the book's contents and the musical and it's a big reason why a lot of people can't get into it, which is a shame.

There was also a ton of stuff at the dollar spot in Target, including Glinda’s crown and sceptre, party napkins and decor, reusable tumblers - it’s all under 5.00 usd so that’s great! One of the first collabs came out in March and sold out right away, from One/Size cosmetics - eyeshadow palettes and a Glinda-themed glittery setting spray that sold out right away. There were single shades in the OPI polish line, the pink and green sold individually and were actually really pretty!

They actually made Wicked cake pop mix, with the same color changing thing like the mac-n-cheese and cupcakes. I bought two boxes, both were pink, and me and my sister put in food dye and just turned them orange and brown, and accidentally made Halloween cake pops.

I’ve seen the movie twice now and I think that it’s DEFINITELY worth the hype! I’m a huge fan of Wicked and the movie did a great job of bringing that magical world to life. I even cried a little at the end. I absolutely can not wait for part two!! 🩷💚🩷💚🩷💚
