Oda drew inspiration from the cartoon “Tom and Jerry.” Oda himself wanted to draw something funny and also wanted Luffy's fights to regain some funny elements, even though he was aware the general audience of One Piece would not like this concept because the general action sequences of contemporary Shonen manga are taken too seriously, causing the genre's uniqueness in the past to be lost over time. With the introduction of Gear 5, Oda wanted to create a polarity between Luffy's cartoonish humor and Kaidou's deadly seriousness.

Oda was inspired by Tom and Jerry. Saying he thought making transformations "always serious" gets boring. And he wanted to make a transformation that actually is original but also, same with the power up as well Gear 5 breaks the cliches of typical anime transformations Gear 5 is gonna be even more goofy later in the story. I feel like, this power up changes the whole story of One Piece. Gear 5 is amazing!!

Each time Luffy says ‘I’m gonna be king of the pirates’ it gets more and more hype. Like it turns from an annoying catchphrase to a declaration to a promise. Last two times he’s said it I felt he might as well already be king, his swagger is immaculate.

Your wife said something almost everyone has missed. When Kaido attacks luffy usung haki, luffy stays rubbery and takes no damage. This was foreshadowed in the Doflamingo fight when he kicks luffy with haki but luffy bounces off his attack in gear 4

Calling it no damage is a bit too far. Enhanced rubberiness, strength and his emperor level haki just reduces his damage a lot.

Just keep in mind, cause it can be frustrating at first glance how Luffy seems to not take this part of the fight seriously that Zoan fruits influence a persons mind as well as their bodies. If you remember the Cp9 agent Jabra for instance, when he became a wolf he also embodied the “big bad wolf” trope which is why he used dumb stories to try to catch you by surprise underhandedly. In a similar way, Luffy embodying this trickster god has to be interpreted similarly to The Mask with Jim Carrey, he becomes powerful and has both ample rubbery powers as well as minor goofy reality bending effects (kaido gets funny bird effects and is distracted when hit hard and the crewmates eyes popping out in shock, among others you will see in the future) but the drawback is luffy becomes very whimsical and easily distracted, sometimes unable to resist the need to make a joke or a gag, even if it means taking unnecessary damage, so whenever he fights in gear 5 his attacks are disperse and unfocused on finishing the fight, which is probably something he will learn to control with experience.

I guess now we know that when it comes to Devil Fruit Zoan Mythicals, the abilities of the users act somewhat like a mixed Dual-Fruit Type Power-user. Like for example with Marco & Yamato, their Zoan Mythicals make them a dual-mix of Zoan-transformer & Logia elemental; like with Marco's Fire Phoenix and Yamato's Ice Wolf-God. And I guess for Luffy's Zoan Mythical it makes him a dual-mix Zoan-transformer & Paramecia-superhuman of rubber

Its not so much of a "dual fruit type" its just that the creature/god or whatever it is inside the fruit has its certain set of abilities to it, and that set bends the standard fruit rules because that's what makes it "Mythical"

Shiryu (the jailer who left with Blackbeard) got Absalom's invisibility fruit, and the old man (mostly just shown in that scene when Oden first attacked Orochi after he came back) who was with that woman who tricked Oden has Bartolomeo's barrier fruit. I like to binge when I watch one piece so I waited a little bit before coming back to the playlist and now its flipped to were you have to start at the end unless you want to physical skip to the next episode one by one for all 1,000 episodes. Kai & Luffy Cartoon 😂 - When Kaido mentioned about comic strips someone asked this in an SBS & Oda revealed a few famous titles that existed in the One Piece world with some drawings like “Sora, Warrior of the Sea”, “Fire Dog” (looks like a dog on fire unharmed but I feel it’s a bit of a reference to the manga Fire Punch), “Pokemon” (Pokémon & Doremon), “Monkey Ball” (Dragon Ball & Journey to the West), & “Marco-san” (Chibi Maruko-chan which the creator Momoko Sakura is good friends with Oda) - The Nika fruit has traits from all 3 types where it being a Zoan grants the user the god physiology, Paramecia allows him rubber powers, & for the Logia this grants the user to create flames from the sun which would explain how Luffy can create flames underwater - Notice that opening 20 “OVER THE TOP” is playing during the fight between Luffy & Kaidou
