@@TubenuubThat's the thing though, she didn't really need his help at all. She just sent for Jon because of a prophecy Melisandre told her. If the North didn't swear allegiance to her, she will just come for them after Cersei - it was never in her plans to fight Jon's war till this episode (frankly, I was kinda 'ehh' by it because I think any sane ruler will need more proof than crude drawings on rock before committing to yet another war when she's already in one).

Arya has been trained by some of the best fighters in the world. Syrio taught her water dancing and the art and passion of sword fighting. The Hound taught her what it really meant to be in a battle and how to fight dirty and survive. Then lastly in Braavos she was trained in the ways of an assassin and had to learn to defend herself without sight. Inferring that she probably spent a lot of her time offscreen practising, it’s not surprising to me that she’s such a capable fighter.

It's not about ending the war quickly though. It's about doing so in a way that won't invite outright ire and mistrust the moment Dany sits on the throne. If she goes straight to the Red Keep than she IS killing civilians. Civilians that work inside the Keep and civilians in the surrounding areas that will get crushed by falling debris. The moment anyone in Kings Landing, be it lord or peasant, sees Dany do to civilians what she just did to Lannister soldiers in the Loot Train battle, is the moment Dany loses Westeros. And we already know that the people of Westeros already don't trust her, as shown in the first few episodes of Season 7 when they already consider her dangerous off of her name alone. Also, Tyrion isn't sad "for no reason" he's sad because he's witnessing someone he's helped essentially drop a nuke on soldiers that serve his family. Like yeah, he wants to see his sister displaced from the throne but he's also allowed to have a human reaction to seeing people die in horrible ways.

The reunion of Sansa, Arya, and Bran is as interesting offscreen as it is onscreen when you think about it, all 3 actors were children and basically new and untrained in acting the last time they acted together back in the first episode of the first season, and since then all 3 have effectively had their own character and actor journeys through the near decade they’ve been filming the show. And now they’ve reunited as grown adults and trained actors actually knowing deeply each of their characters. As big of a moment this is onscreen, I imagine it must have been truly something offscreen for these young actors.

Remember from the lore videos: Bran the Builder built Storm’s End, Winterfell, the Wall and perhaps many other things in the Age of Legends. He was described as cold and logical. Just saying we’ve seen him create time loops with Hodor and of course his Father at the Tower of Joy. And he recognized the dagger. The only one of its kind it has been said. Further if you go back to the episode where Sam was reading the old books, right before he found the entry about dragon glass there was a picture of the dagger. Littlefinger gave it to the assassin, it came back to him, he gave it to Bran, but Bran dumped it to Arya.

This was an all time great battle scene. I mean, I was tense the whole time even though it was obvious which army was going to win in the end. The prospect of casualties among the characters (and animals) I loved was still super strong.

Remember Cyrio taught Arya water dancing; that’s where her agility and sword play from. The Hound taught her how to be savage and cold, and Haägan Daz taught her how to be stealthy.

I loved this episode for the dragon action, but it really showcases the teleporting that started happening in the last couple of seasons.

It’s a little more reasonable this episode since mounted Dothraki can move pretty quickly and the Reach isn’t too far from the coast.
@jwsel11 ай бұрын
@@andrewward5891Except the Dothraki were on Dragonstone at the beginning of the episode. Tyrion said they had enough ships to get the Dothraki to the mainland. Dragonstone and Highgarden are on opposite ends of Westeros. This episode also is where the show transitioned from GRRM’s anyone can die at any time to major characters having plot armor. Jamie and Bronn surviving that battle was ridiculous.
@Cbricklyne11 ай бұрын
@@jwsel How do you know all the Dothraki were at Dragonstone at the beginning of the episode? That's just an assumption on your part, and one that does't take into account the possibility that Dany might have sent some in advance for a possible seige on the mainland. Just like people assumed they were all killed in a certain battle to come and then act surprised that she might have left some behind to guard Dragonstone. Your entire complaint is based on an assumption that's in no way corroborrated by anything said or shown in the show. And people have always had plot armor in this show since the beginning, - from even when GRRM was still involved in the show and even from the books themselves..... Jon should never have survived Hardhome probably 5 or 6 times within that same battle. Bran should never have made it beyond the wall,.....or back. Sansa should never have made it out of King's Landing or back North. Tyrion should never have survived the Blackwater battle. I could go on and on and on...... You know why these characters had plot armor and why they survived these ordeals. Stop pretending and acting like this is where it started just for the sake of complaining.

It's only "teleporting" if you assume everything is happening in realtime, and expect to have the show spoon-feed you every bit of information (like with captions), and don't expect to think for yourself.
@Galiant201011 ай бұрын
@@Cbricklyne I'm not really bothered by the "teleporting" but the pace just really speeds up. Season 1 we have the multi-episode long travel from Winterfell to King's Landing. If that trip were to happen now they'd have left in one episode and arrived in the next. That's what people mean by teleporting. But I'm fine with it because it just means nothing of importance happened on the journey. But there's one specific scene either later this season or next season when they were in a time crunch and sent for help and I felt it arrived too quickly to be realistic. But most any other time I'm fine with the pace.

@@YourMotherAnd420 It's general knowledge. If you can manage with every sense except sight, then you're that much better off with sight. They show this in Star Wars, too, when Luke puts on the helmet and is training with the ball droid. Though that's Force enhanced... but still, if you can manage blind you're even better when you can see.

But we are never shown her mastering sightless fighting. Does she beat the waif sightless?
@Galiant201011 ай бұрын
@@HuntingViolets Yes. People will argue that it's vague, but it's basically implied/intended that when the waif was chasing her and she snuffed out the candle that she won, because we see her alive later. People will argue that it's the waif wearing Arya's face, but I think it's pretty obvious that it's not. The waif was dedicated to the ways of the faceless ones, so her taking over Arya's life isn't in line with that ideology.
