As a bassist I absolutely am blown away how Sheehan only seems to get better by the year. Whenever he does his mind blowing solos you'll hear some snob say "bass is about groove" 😂😂. The man (and rest of this band) is the epitome of syncopated grooving. One other point of observation. That trade off between the guitar solo and lead bass is about as perfect as you can get and they can hack it LIVE.

@Cire Rednulk Kim won’t be playing his skin flute anymore that’s for sure. Either way I just discovered Richie Kotzen recently I gotta say I should be kicking my own ass for not finding out about him or the Winery Dogs sooner.
@szabonorbert53343 жыл бұрын
Kanye is probably not the best example, you can find plenty of tapes of him producing his own beats and stuff, and his influence in hiphop is astronomical. You can’t really compare the two of them, this is a band full of virtuoso musicians who make amazing music for a niche group of listeners, and Kanye makes music for the masses, something to sing along and dance to, and there is nothing wrong with that either. Let people enjoy whatever they want to, both of them make great music, yes this is more technical, but the point is for you, the listener, to enjoy it.

First time I listened to this album was one night after work, I waited all day long to listen to it and when I finally did, on the bus ride home, and when the intro kicked in, I think my pupils literally dilated and I started laughing from the pure musical epicness and rockin-brutality of this song and the MAD skills combined in this wizard-like trio. Then I noticed Billy's bass, and I was like WHAT?? THAT'S A BASS?? PLAYED BY ONE MAN?? Richie's licks like he's on cocaine, and then Portnoy just doesn't give those drums a break... I just couldn't stop laughing at how ridiculously good they are, and how heart-rate-boosting this is. It's just so good that it's funny; it's like they said: "let's make a song but lets just do "solos" all over the song, but all three together and sing over it".. that's how f***in good this is... damn...
