You know how I know this is a good channel? I normally skip or speed up a lot of the intros and outros on reaction channels, but I rarely do that with Frank here. This is a very insightful young man and I want to hear what he has to say.

Top-5 opening for The Wire. It shows you so much about Bodie. How he saw D, how he sees himself, the trouble he has processing and recognizing his own emotions.

I'm happy you like Frank so much. He's, imo, a contender for top 5 characters in the show, and I feel he's often overlooked in favor of characters like Stringer or Omar. The actor absolutely kills it.

So true. He’s acting is incredible. absolutely great. Especially in some of the more emotional moments he had later in season two.

Really great reaction! Truly loving and appreciating the double upload as well. You know it's actually baffling to me how new watchers tend to think that Avon is in with the hit with D'Angelo. Idk maybe the differing of backgrounds could play a factor but on my first watch I was never at all confused on if Stringer acted alone. In fact the only thing about this plot that I didn't catch the first time is that Stringer was plotting since episode 3. Avon was keeping the truth of how D'Angelo was moving to only himself and Brianna. Stringer took advantage of the task with Donnette and started getting the truth of the matter through her. Then he moved accordingly (from his POV) and went outside their organization to get the deed done. There's just no way Avon would outright kill his nephew. We know Avon is big on family from the first season despite his very flawed way of loving family. It just always makes me confused when people say they needed this episode for clarification for Avon 😂 Chile the only thing clarified is Stringer being a top tier 🐍 lmaoooo When it first aired I was literally screaming the truth at my television. I wanted Avon to find out *immediately*

If you look back, all of Daniels' wife's support has been about looking at things sharply/pragmatically and looking out for his career first. She's full of wisdom, but she's never been one to prioritize feelings over ambition, in my view (in fact, she's discouraged him from it, and acted disappointed in him when he's gone the other way).

I'm glad you got to experience D's death and the aftermath fresh. How it should be. There are definitely times when I watch folks like you and either get a new perspective on things or see something I missed before, 20 years and we can still dissect this series. Remember, Avon & Bri are grieving, no way a rational thought like "D didn't look like he'd do that to himself (or wouldn't ever do himself)" and they certainly wouldn't think that someone would dare do that to D... remember how Avon got KFC and one of the prison guards helped him learn about the drug-dealing guard so he could get time to talk. He's connected in the cut, no way someone would possibly do that. So... their thought process is gonna run with that.

I feel like Avon, Bodie, and D's mother believing that D'Angelo killed himself isn't a clueless conclusion at all. There were a lot of signs that can be taken that way, and even his speech to his mother is consistent with being interpreted as a precursor to that, IMO. Being as internally conflicted as he was showing, stubbornly insisting on taking the brunt of it alone, medicating, making "impractical" decisions based on emotion, all of these things can believably lead to that (even though it wasn't the case and we as a viewer know everything that lead to his viewpoint).
@KellyCarter-xz3nn17 күн бұрын
I like this because I kinda wondered the same thing. It SO obvious to us, but all of that withdrawing and speeches of “leave me alone” and “let me go” could come across really differently to his family. The depression that must come with going to prison after your family killed your friend. And all along the devil is consoling them, not slipping up one bit. I love the connection Frank made to Hannibal too! That was such a cool way to think of it

On the cheating thing, I'm not a forgiving person, at all. I have to get not just a "mea culpa" but I have to see efforts made to undo the damage and not repeat it before I begin to trust that person again, and that's not even on something as serious as cheating. If someone cheats, it's just such a profound betrayal that comes from a lack of respect, and once those things are violated, it's impossible for me to go back. It's easier to find someone else than it is for a cheater to convince me they're worth giving another chance.

With String and Avon, there's something in writing or moving making there's a whole word for it I forget, BUT its where the audience knows stuff but the characters don't. With Stringer and Avon... they came up together. Probably through the worst of stuff we don't know but they built everything they have together. I don't think it makes Avon dumb to randomly assume Stringer was involved him his nephews death. I mean Stringer is probably closer to him than D'angelo in terms of friendship and what they went through together over hte years. D is blood, Stringer spilled blood and grided and was loyal for who knows how long so I think it would be crazy for Avon to just jump to "look into his death, must be stringer"

I don't think people in the comments are trying to tell you that killing Wallace and Dee was MORALLY right. but from the perspective of the live they are living and from a perspective of protecting their business, Wallace's death was absolutely necessary. he WAS snitching and it would have got Stringer jailed if he had been able to act as a witness in court and tell that Stringer was there to pick up Omar's boy from the greeks. Now Dee is a different story. Avon would have never called a hit on Dee unless he absolutely knew Dee was actively moving against him. Dee just wanted to be left alone and I think Avon would have been fine with that. But letting him live would definitely carries the risk of him at some point maybe talking to the police. as they said 20 years is a long time. you never know. Stringer wasn't willing to take that risk. definitely MORALLY indefensible. but business and security wise? somewhat understandable.

I really don't get why people who consistently follow a channel won't sub to it. It costs nothing and takes all of two seconds. I'd get it if you only watched a single video from a channel, but if you're enjoying the content enough to watch several videos and you won't even spend two seconds to click the sub button to give something back, that's just petty.

I don't think comments are siding with the bad guys. I think they are just explaining the motivations behind the characters' "street logic." I've watched other reactions with people who don't know the streets at all, and they unusually are slow to understand the reasoning behind the actions.

The wire has the worst fans. Thinking they need to explain everything. While the show does is perfectly itself. Its sick.

I understand when commenters are trying to explain character motivations. I understand the character motivations. I’m talking about comments of people who justify it cause they wanna see destructive street shit.
@KellyCarter-xz3nn17 күн бұрын
I could see that, but I’ve seen other reactors acting clueless. Frank never comes across as if he can’t understand the whatever the show sets up. Including the rules of street life. It’s more like he questions the very nature of things. We can all see he’s very intelligent, but above all empathetic. I think if your first reaction to Wallace’s death is “well he was a threat” then you’ve become way too callous and definitely missing some of the point the show is making.
