Non. This show is a very bad one. I prefer something that would provide an in-depth look on gaming, like the History of games, or the Escape from mount stupid. Entertaining show is also welcome. Like the top Skyrim mods, when you blow up explosive chickens. But this show is neither of those. It's a shallow, boring show that the result was pretty much predetermined from the start. Like how you tried to convince people that the xbone has better exclusive than the PS4. Yeah, have fun doing that. Just see how well that would turn out. Or when you pit Kratos against Joel to see who's the better dad. If you had really wanted a fair fight, you should have done it with Kazuma vs Kratos.

Honestly man, same here. I didn't know the witcher existed until the witcher 3 was announced, and it has become the best game I've ever played. Everything about this game is a masterpiece, the characters, the story, the combat, the side missions, everything. The only other game that has come close to it is God of War, which has become a very close second to the witcher 3 imo, like God of War made me fall in love with video games again, but it only lasted about 1-2 months, I constantly played the witcher 3 over the span of 2 years, what with multiple saves and starting new ones to choose different branching paths to have different endings, like living on the road with ciri or having her go home to become ruler of Nilfgaard, or running off with yen or settling down with triss. Just everything about that game is amazing.

Witcher 3 is a story book and you can find stories (not quest) in every direction, every town, every region. True Open World.
@Denz2926 жыл бұрын
That last statement is debatable, Breath of the Wild only has 2 compulsory quests in the game, finish the tutorial and defeat the final boss. Whatever happens in between is up to the player and that is what makes BotW a true open world. The definition of an open world is not reliant on the story.
@weaverquest6 жыл бұрын
Denz292 There is no definition of open world. People make their own definitions. Most important distinction to be made between these two games would be that Zelda BOTW is a true sandbox game where you can make your own fun with its gameplay mechanics and Witcher 3 is a true RPG with a living-breathing world, full of well written characters, story, history and lore.
@Denz2926 жыл бұрын
Last Survivor LOL! You say I’m speaking in true fanboy fashion, before speaking in true fashion yourself. The last sentence really shows how full of shit you are, and that you have no real arguments
@Denz2926 жыл бұрын
Cutter Elf While I agree with the last part of your statement, there has to be a definition. Unless people are calling games like Wolfenstein II or God of War “open world”, there is a set criteria that has to be met for a game to be open world, which therefore defines what an open world is. Linking it back to my original comment, Breath of the Wild is an even more open game, because it isn’t restricted by RPG elements. Not saying that is a bad thing, just saying it is what it is
@Denz2926 жыл бұрын
Last Survivor Lol, it’s like the more you comment, the more apparent your lack of understanding of what an open world game is. I’m not disputing that The Witcher 3 doesn’t have a full vast open world, but what makes Breath of the Wild a true open world is that it gives the player even more freedom. You’ve played the Witcher 3 (apparently) so you should know that the story, despite it being great, has some linearity to it, where as I said earlier about BotW is that the story can be skipped altogether if the player chooses to. You say BotW lacks basic features? Look at Minecraft, that has no story or side quests, yet it’s an open world game. Open world games are defined as allowing players to do whatever they want, not just cramming a world full of stuff just to give players a checklist to do

I think the above points refute your “fundamentally broken” statement The only reason it would seem useless is if you lack imagination. Zelda has far more interesting gameplay with it's puzzles,platforming, non linear gameplay, combat is far more interesting, and uses the games physics to it's advantage. Witcher's 3 gameplay mainly consists of just combat, very little puzzles or platforming or true exploration in a nonlinear way in the Witcher 3, even with it's combat I prefer Zelda's combat better since you feel like there is littler input delay when swordfighting and flurry rush feels satisfying to accomplish. I feel like people in the comment section are mainly picking the Witcher just cause it had a more memorable story and it's more cinematic which makes them believe the game is more amazing than Zelda. @victorko96276 жыл бұрын
Forever PCX Nothing about Witchers environment is interactive. Only thing you interact with are the characters and enemies that are placed on the map, but not the map/world itself. You cant cut grass, you cant cut trees, fire doesnt spread and has no effect on gameplay, different climates and weather dont affect you. All this is in BotW though + the incredible physics engine that intensifies the feel of a living world.
@weaverquest6 жыл бұрын
Machete Lucius Cutting grass and trees? Lol. That's the kind of interactivity you are looking for? Can you destroy and rebuild houses and other structures in Zelda BOTW? I thought not. So much for interactivity. Cutting grass is not more important for a living-breathing world than well written stories, characters, history and lore. Also movement is very stiff in Zelda BOTW compared to Witcher 3 and enemies have ragdoll physics which is very old method and video gamey and far from a "living" world. So much for incredible physics engine.

Law Thirtyfour, The Witcher 3 isn't only about fun, the story is anything but that. Of course Zelda is more fun to play, it's a game aimed at kids, with it's gameplay being it's main focus, while TW3 is targeting a mature audience with a gritty story and a focus on said story.
@lawthirtyfour29536 жыл бұрын
Fun meaning enjoyability. Witcher 3 has an enjoyable story while you may be sad or angered by it, it's still a "fun" story even if it's not a light hearted one. So Witcher 3 decided to have weaker game play because the Devs think that's what's "adult" and "mature". As an adult I realize that game play comes first and you don't become the best GAME in the generation if you have weaker game play.
@mohangrewal14666 жыл бұрын
Law Thirtyfour The same rules apply to story too. You don't become the best game without a good story or lore. Zelda had so little lore attached to it. The game was amazing as well as its gameplay The story was lackluster.
@lawthirtyfour29536 жыл бұрын
No, the same rules do not apply to story because this is a game and the importance of gameplay far outweigh that of story. Zelda was great because it gave you just enough story to give context to it's gameplay and did not try to be a book or a movie.

And You are right, these Polish guys just know how to write drama, comedy, ... and really fucked up things also ... i always get really disturbed by the story in Velen. Also 1-2 Switch is not the best example on the Switch for sure. Wii sports was a sytem seller on the Wii before and i remember we played 500+ hours with only ping pong. When Switch came, i does not even bought 1-2 Switch... BoTW was different. It is true that the story, and the presentation is not as detailed and strong like in Witcher, but man ... something is so charming in that world, and how the whole game works and reacts. Also the second DLC got me a bit teared up too :).

Witcher 3 has a better story (obviously, it's based on a book). Breath of the Wild has far better combat and is a better open world. Winner Breath of the Wild. No, still want more. Fine let's look at combat first. Witcher 3 was actually criticized for the way it handled combat. It wasn't smooth in the least to start out with and it actively felt like a chore at times. The lock on was not very accurate at times and Geralt felt slow, like he was just barely getting out of the way in time. In contrast, BOTW has a simple yet creative combat style. You can fight things up and personal and if you do, you have perfect parries, dodge counters, and runes like Stasis to allow you to control the flow of battle. You can also fight from range with bows, bombs, and the environment with the Magnesis Rune. All of the unique features flow into each other and can be utilized in unique and different ways. You can even use the environment or other enemies to take out your targets. BOTW has by far the better combat system. BOTW also has the better open world. The world of The Witcher 3 honestly feels too packed together at times where you can get on Roach, ride out from one village and 45 seconds later, you hit another village. You actually don't get a sense of an expansive open world in moments like this, because the landmarks feel so cluttered together at times. In BOTW, you can ride out from one village and not hit another one for minutes at a time, actively giving you the sense that you are in an open world journeying from one distant village to another, facing any and all trials and challenges along the way. BOTW also lets you explore to your heart's content more than The Witcher by virtue of BOTW not being an RPG. You can go straight to the end of the game after completing the prologue in BOTW and you have the freedom and choice to just do that. You can't do that with The Witcher 3 precisely because the game has a structured story to it. You are free to feel like The Witcher 3 is a better game overall, or that you enjoyed it way more than BOTW. I'm merely judging on the 3 main points presented; Open World, Combat, and Story and I feel I presented the case as to why BOTW is better than The Witcher 3 in those respects.

Botw feels like there's nothing there the side quest in either 3 has their own stories the combat in witcher 3 it's simple but spot on with the runes bombs and the mutengs amazing the dlc for witcher are amazing botw has fun stuff to like that dragon and the arrows I guess over all botw it's basic to play and witcher makes me feel like a bad ass

Okay lets compare: Combat: zelda wins without a doubt. open world....cant really compare it is a a matter of taste. Preparing: Witcher! In Zelda you just find good weapons. Graphic: I think we know that 2 different Graphic styles shouldnt be compared. Diversity: In Diversity in Enemy both are pretty trash. Yeah sure Witcher has many different types of a monster but hands down they are most of the time the same monster with different stats. Quests also are often just the same but with a different unimportant plot. Yeah Witcher quests win but i really didnt care for them after doing 2-3 and skipped every conversation only caring for the xp. Weapons and equipment in general in Witcher is also nothin special while Zelda doesnt have many Armors but different for different situations. Progression: In Witcher i almost felt non of the progression in Combat and in the stats. of course there is a progression but you cant really feel it. In Zelda you learn to use your environment and the different ability's/tools you have to defeat your enemies. (Mostly because you dont want to loose your weapons). Overall it is just a matter of taste but saying witcher 3 is in a whole other level is just Stupid.

The "Cool" answer: The Witcher 3 The Correct answer: Breath of the Wild I've put at least 80 hours into each and while the narrative beats in TW3 are the best I've seen in a video game (I especially liked the Bloody Baron storyline), I did not enjoy being a glorified errand boy between those segments. A lot of people focus on TW3's high production value and adult themes, which is great, but I'd rather just watch Game of Thrones in that case. I play video games for the GAMEPLAY, which they didn't even really discuss in the video, and BotW is absolutely revolutionary in that area (even CD Projekt Red has said this). When you look at the new elements individually - the freedom, the climbing mechanic, the physics and chemistry engines, and even the weapon breaking - it's very easy to write them off as being insignificant. But when you combine all of those elements, take away the waypoints and even take away the map (until you fill it in yourself), it's hard to deny the genius of Nintendo's design in that every element has been carefully implemented to amplify that sense of adventure and discovery. You're guided mostly by your own curiosity, with very few limits as nearly every inch of the land is climbable/traversable, so every discovery feels personal. The physics and chemistry engines allow you to tackle puzzles and combat in a variety of different ways (it's still astounding to me how differently my friends and I approached certain situations) and the weapon breaking incentivizes creative solutions instead of your typical hack-and-slash strategy very prevalent in TW3. And as jaw-dropping as the world is in TW3, a lot of the time you're actually just focusing on a GPS route or a damn stink trail. In BotW, your attention almost always resides in the "breathtaking" world Nintendo has created for you, thereby maximizing the use of space. For me, that's what separates Breath of the Wild from all other Open World games, including The Witcher 3.

Volvo Drift Open World design - Zelda Combat - Zelda Storytelling - Depends on how you look at it. That is more of a subjective element than anything. It can be said that the true story of Breath of The Wild is the adventure itself and how you go about exploring and growing in experience. In that case the story far surpasses The Witcher 3. I didn't care too much for Witcher 3's story myself. Amazing character development that will make players so invested in the characters even if they didn't play the last w games (which most people did not) amazing way in which the story develops. Surprising also that they did not break the rule of "show don't tell" which many forms of media break in every way possible. Witcher 3, hands down handled its story better.

On the other hand, the story in Zelda is just a rehash of previous Zelda game with some twists here and there. So, The Witcher 3 wins this round. Overall, both are the best open world game right now. BOTW hands down. Everything you do in the game is connected in some way. Stuffs you collect in it are useful unlike a lot of RPGs out there where you could kill an enemy and it drops you a useless loot that's only good in it is to sell it. It doesn't just have a physics engine like every other game out there, it also has a chemistry engine, you can, like the video said, set bushes on fire with your torch, use the updraft created by the fire to ride it into the air to reach places you never thought you could. You can also chop down trees to get logs and chop that down to get fire wood, you can then light it up with a splint to create a camp fire. Anything that you think it's possible to do, usually it's possible. BOTW's world is what every open world should be, freedom of exploration, connective gameplay and choices in storylines. It is a masterpiece

Having played tons of the Zelda games (including this one) and the last 2 Witcher games I can see arguments for both. Breath of the wild does have a storyline in my opinion it’s pretty weak and nothing we haven’t seen before. The play style of both games is different but I have to lean towards The Witcher 3. The game just has so much to do that doesn’t feel repetitive or like filler content like BOTW did. The shrines weren’t great and for a lot of them they could be skipped entirely with a few tricks. I didn’t bother to complete all of the side missions because it seemed tedious to find everything. But in the Witcher 3 I always felt rewarded going and exploring the massive world. Finding cool new gear and better swords always felt great. The durability system on both games sucked but BOTW more than the Witcher because you can’t keep a sword or weapon you want without carrying multiple copies of the same one. In the Witcher it added itself to the gameplay in a way as you had to make sure you and your gear was always prepared for an upcoming battle. Overall The Witcher 3 wins with a close second from BOTW

derron cooper The story is what you want to be. You shape the true story through the adventure you take. The places you find, the puzzles you solve, the enemies you fight, and everything you learn along the way. The game is a true learning experience that does not hold your hand. That is a very rare thing in this day and age. It actually respects the player's intelligence.

I'll be honest. I felt sorry for the guy having to defend Zelda botw in story and combat categories. Zelda's story was almost nonexistent, and it was banking on all the set up its games in the past two decades have done. I felt invested in no character ever, and the dialogue was sparse and not interesting. I'm confident in this: pick any random side quest in Witcher 3 and it will be more interesting and more ambitious than all of botw's stories combined. Most impressively, Witcher 3 had many quests, including the main quest, that was effected by player agency. Combat in Witcher 3 was vastly deeper, too. In zelda, a typical fight would be hitting one attack button constantly, and if I remember, there's only two sets of animations for attacks, one- handed and two-handed. In Witcher 3, you had hundreds of items you could equip with unique stats, dozens of skills to level up, and an overall playstyle you could customize to your liking. Zelda's combat seemed like an afterthought. Now, in the open world category, things get tougher, admittedly. Botw's world was very pretty, though a bit washed out. It had a great ambiance to it and it felt massive. Yet, if you were to judge it beyond appearance, it felt empty, purposeless and devoid of life. Like the Witcher rep said, it felt like the world was crafted around stories and quests in the Witcher; the opposite seemed true in botw. Outside of collecting more food and finding korok seeds, there was no reason to explore, and curiosity was met with disappointment. I guess in summary, my opinion is clear: Botw, while good, is the most overrated game in history, and Witcher 3 is probably the best game ever made.

I don’t see why people make debates on which is better. They are both amazing games that have received critical acclaim and won various awards. It really depends on people’s preferences. Games shouldn’t be compared, they shouldn’t be called “worse” than another. They are mediums for people to have fun. Some people just have different tastes.

I have 175 hours clocked in TW3, I completed both expansions, and I 100%ed the main game. Also I played 300 hours of Zelda BotW. First of all I gotta say that this a nonsensical "battle" apart from the fantasy setting, they really have nothing in common. Witcher 3 is a linear, story driven RPG with an emphasis on side quests and a strong narrative. Zelda on the other hand creates an open world that is highly interactive allowing multiple complex interactions between the player and the world. Also the game features a non linear progression, and is categorized as an action adventure game. Saying one is better than the other, is like stating that Tetris is better than Skyrim. They simply dont compare. People who are pointing out a "winner" are mostly just trying to talk bad things about the other game, to validate their opinion. Im not saying that you cant have a favorite, Im just pointing oit that you cant objectively say one is better

i cringe whenever i hear people say that the witcher is the "better open world game" i mean put it this way Witcher 3 punishes you for exploration in so many ways,and it does not feel rewarding and you wont find anything interesting and to top it all off it restricts you to some areas until your level is high enough, botw encourages you to go wherever you want whenever you want and it also encourages you to explore and the more you explore the more rewarding it is which makes it by default the better open world game the rest just boils down on weather you prefer gameplay(Zelda Botw) or writing(Witcher 3)

Enemy's one shot in Zelda because you went into a high level zone they just don't tell you unless you look at the enemy's weapons. I'm not sure what you think you find in Zelda. You find simple ages 5 and under Korok puzzles or shrines that are simple puzzles rooms with no threat. Or worse the same enemy 30 times or a empty room with a chest in a shrine. I like both games, but despite having played the Wichter 3 for about 30 hours, I just can't get myself to finish it. Everytime you finish a quest, 3 more quests pop up. A new checklist in your menu, new people I don't care for that want something from me. Breath of the Wild is the first game that made me really feel free to do whatever I want, without any pressure. It all felt so natural. I was able to go wherever I wanted, no restrictions. And on top of that, it all felt like it had more heart to it. The characters and the world are just beautiful. Witcher 3 is a very good huge RPG for hardcore RPG gamers. Breath Of The Wild is a masterpiece that you can enjoy without having to go through a checklist and millions of sidequests with their own stories. I stopped playing Witcher 3 for a few months and when I came back to it, I had no idea what was going on. I can always jump into Breath of the Wild.

you're talking about games as if it was a sum of A+B. Also you're mistaking your own taste with the reality of those games, that are aiming for 2 very different experiences. In BOTW I love that I don't have 1000 quests, every character talking to me every 2 min, a world full of people and stuff to loot, 1000 pages of lore to read... Zelda for me. Witcher III is a great game with phenomenal storytelling but Zelda BoTW is an experience IMO. Witcher III deserves all of the kudos and awards its received. But I'm enjoying BoTW more. The landscape, the ability to travel to any place you can actually see from the highest mountains to the lowest valleys. I didn't mind the weapon breaking mechanic because it definitely forced some creative thinking to win battles. Enemies in BoTW are actually dangerous this time which is something that was missing from Zelda games with the exception of Majora's Mask, Zelda 2 and the original. Because of this, I find myself making camp at night when out on the road to avoid unnecessary battles and to avoid the Blood Moon when possible. The importance of cooking and elixir creation is real, It's the little things in Zelda that may not seem like much individually, on the surface but are incredible when they come together while playing the game. Even as a technical achievement, I STILL can't figure out how Nintendo got BoTW to run, with those draw distances, details, effects and frame rate on a Switch with a mobile battery. I played Witcher III on a Ryzen 5/GTX 1080 rig which is like NBD in terms of PC gaming. Both games definitely showcase the difference between East/West game design. Zelda is more Zen in terms of gameplay and optimization as Nintendo did more with less (technology) Witcher III is more in-your-face brutality in gameplay that can be excessive (in terms of technology required) as some modern rigs STILL can't run it that well.

If I were to give my own opinion on each category I’d say Open world-zelda because of its amazing physics system and how each area has a new way to use a bomb or a rune or boulder. Plus the breakable weapons make you want to experiment more with combat. Combat-witcher. I found the combat better in the witcher. It felt more satisfying after each hit. The combat in zelda is a little too easy. But I do think that both combat systems are a bit stiff feeling. Story-are you joking? Of course that’s witcher. I did honestly like zelda more though.

Every way except for gameplay, physics engine and sense of freedom. Everything else in the Witcher 3 shits on BOTW, no comparison. There's a lot of irony to BOTW. Example: The world is vast and gives you total freedom to do whatever you want, but the world feels extremely desolute, the characters are monotonous, and the puzzles are very mediocre (out the 120 shrines, only about 25-30 are good and only about 10 are great). Also, the enemy variety is extremely lacking, and the side missions are also disinteresting; "go here, get that"; or "there's a treasure out there somewhere," and when you find it, it's just another boring shrine. Zelda gets a 6 or 7 out of 10, period. Too many negatives!
@casuallyfilthy6 жыл бұрын
Nighhhts well said. I enjoyed BotW immensely, and I would have to agree that yes the enemy types weren’t varied or diverse enough. There is still a lot that is great in BotW. Witcher is so much more enhance and in the same vein, mature, which appeals to me more. It took me way more time to complete (which by all accounts I still have stuff to do in Witcher) where aside from collecting 900 korok seeds or however many it was, there just wasn’t enough to keep me playing after the main story was complete.
@Nighhhts6 жыл бұрын
The Witcher 3 is the biggest open world game ever, including the DLC, which both are fantastic. So diverse and filled with story, lore and fantastics characters and writing. Zelda really is overhyped. Everybody disregards the negatives because they're either fanboys or are in denial. Maybe both.

I don’t find the games very comparable. Witcher is far more linear and more of a RPG style world - like Xenoblade or Dragon Quest - than a true open world like Breath of the Wild, even Xenoblade Chronicles X is significantly more open. While Witcher has a better cinematic narrative, no game since Minecraft, or perhaps Dwarf Fortress, beats Breath of the Wild in terms of emergent gameplay and storytelling aspect. The Breath of the Wild world is far more vibrant, and far more tangible. The Witcher has the more mature and grittier feel, and the humour is way better - perhaps the best of any game ever. I’m more of an RPG guy, so the Witcher 3 is more my style of game, but Breath of the Wild simply satisfies me entirely for action and open world games, as well as emergent open world sandbox gameplay and storytelling. So it’s kind of the best of a segment of games I am less interested in. While I really enjoy The Witcher 3, it doesn’t dominate my love for an entire type of game in the way Breath of the Wild (for action/adventure) or Crusader Kings 2 (for strategy) do. It’s simply one of the best of its kind, if not the best (personally, there are a few RPGs I like more because of the grander stories: think Xenogears on the original PlayStation, or some of the Final Fantasy games (my favourite are 6, 7, 8, and X). On the other hand, I think CD Project Red differentiates itself from either the so-called “Western RPGs” or the so-called “JRPGs” enough time feel like something unique and special in the genre. As I said earlier, the Xenoblade games are probably the best comparison - minus the grander stories in Xenoblade; X is a more comparable story to Witcher 3, as the story is focused on the world while the player is just a piece of it. Honestly, I kind of prefer the Xenoblade Chronicles X/Witcher 3 style stories - I don’t always want to play the world’s greatest hero. Maybe Cyberpunk will finally be the game to fully captivate me.
