From a musical standpoint, its doubly impressive. This song would be challenging even prerecorded, without audio-correcting. the visual contrast that brings is not lost on me - It's clearly very cold in that tavern and as you can see his breath, he is singing BURN...but also connects to the coldness in his heart with the loss of his friendship. I like those little details whether they were intentional or not...
@Wrenn_NYC2 жыл бұрын
Not just that. When he's back to the camera and turns front in there's a difference in sound quality in 'no word that I've written ' vs - turn jump on stage and now muffled 'ring quite as true' then clear on the turn for 'Burn' there is a slightly muffled quality to phrase that clears on the turn and 'Burn'. That's only from a live performance. Or performances. I sounds, maybe, that there is potentially two audios used here given the changed in the sound quality, but I don't think so. Joey has said that this was actually filmed outside, and if I had to guess, above the stage was open, no ceiling. but there was some rudimentary ceiling above the non stage area - which would bounce sound, where as on stage facing the back it won't. - and the main mikes are up and to the right of the video would account for the sound diff.

What I like about Jaskier is the fact that he does not fear big guys like Geralt or Yennefer, he instead embraces them for who they are which is why they both like him, but I just wish he did more in the series than being there asked for help that is not needed in the end, because he fucks up and Geralt and Yennefer have to manage on their own anyway. Yen when she asked him for help and Geralt when he saved him from prison.. if they didn't do either, nothing would change in the story, which is kinda redundant for his character. I know that he is mostly like that, but boi Jaskier just deserves better character arc where they could actually rely on him for once.

What's interesting about this is if you watch the interview with Joey he talks about doing take after take (and singing all this live), but that despite how it looks this tavern set is actually outside and it's really cold (and how hard it was for everyone to keep going take after take in the cold and wasn't sure if he could keep singing in that much cold, but did). He points out that you can see the warm breath in the cold air because of that. So that was just due to it being so cold outside. Originally I thought it was some cool effect, but it works perfectly and that sort of discomfort in the cold might've helped elevate his performance and it's severity here too.

It’s a good song, but the best part is that his bro hurt his feelings so he wrote a song about it

I found Joey Batey through the Amazing Devil, and even though I’ve never seen the Witcher, I had to watch this clip

I think my favorite art of this is that you can see his breath every now and then. Which for those who don't know, this was filmed outdoors in cold weather, not inside a lovely little tavern

Just finished this episode, Jaskier is easily my favorite character in this show. Only the best reintroduction for this glorious bastard!

i have to admit i was a MAJOR Jaskier hater, especially season 1, where i felt like they didn’t do him justice but this season really developed his character and brought a lot of depth to him, which makes me super happy because book!Jaskier totally deserves it.
