The Wizards Continue to Play Chess with Saddiq Bey Signing

After the Deni Avdija trade, we waited to see what the Wizards did next. We've now seen them use some of their draft capital, and now sign forward Saddiq Bey to a 3 year deal. What does this tell us about Will Dawkins plan, as well as what the goals are for the 2024 season aka tanking for Cooper Flagg?

The process indeed is good and front office got a hefty return for Deni, but regardless if they manage to get Flagg next year, entirely on its own I see trading Deni as a gamble as in the long run he might prove to the better player ahead of Sarr, Bilal & Bub. imho Deni is and will be the better player/prospect of the four, and front office gave him up way before he would reach his full potential. If the high risk chess game they are playing doesn't pan out, the Deni trade would become an awful one down the stretch as I expect Deni to make another big leap in the upcoming couple of years.

Deni is a good role player. But, he’s been in the league for years and he’s close to his ceiling. Bilal already showed he’s a much better on-ball defender in his rookie year. Bilal is going to be a much better player than Deni in the long run. If Sarr just rebounds & plays consistent defense in the paint, he’ll be much more of an asset to the Wizards than Deni ever was. And Bub looks like that athletic PG that the Wizards need to run the show. This front office is laying a great foundation for the future that will lead to consistent playoff runs.
