The Wooden Hand Plane - Restoration

Hello my dear friends. It's great to see you here again. This story of mine is about a wooden hand plane, one of the main hand tools of carpentry and traditional woodworking. This hand plane and its blade were in very poor condition. I achieved a result with my aesthetic perception and beauty philosophy, by prioritizing functionality as in my usual works. As you know, I love the combination of wood and brass metal. This work of mine is a clear example of this. We will watch together many craft works such as woodworking, lathe work, metal work, carbon steel and sharpening, coloring the wood , wood finishing, french polishing. I do not record how-to videos. If you have any questions, please ask, I am always happy to answer. Also share your thoughts and different approaches, I would love to listen. There is another important issue that I want to mention; Sometimes faster work and faster productions are requested from me. My world does not and will not flow at that speed. I want to leave this trace here, just as this craftsman spent his few days in the workshop. I hope this work will be a good accompaniment to your time while drinking your coffee or a glass of whiskey. Personally, I started following you for the tranquility, the reflection, the serenity you demonstrate (at least from your videos) when you work. The world of woodworking at an artisanal level, worthy of this name, is precisely the slowness in finishing, the pace, the non-haste. If you make a mistake with work done manually and not with machines, it means starting over and, in the case of restoration, a loss that cannot be recovered. So, continue with your times, your methods and your "slowness". May the wolf always protect you.

Because machine threads in wood, superglue + dust + hopes and dreams , a peened pin that only went in about an inch, and epoxy, equal old school craftsmanship. The only good thing in the video was the cats, and with the kind of dust kicked up in a shop, I wouldn't put mine anywhere near my workplace.

Loved the kittens! If they were here they would have a forever home. My last one died one year ago. We had her 21 years. I love the restoration of the small plane. I’ve restored several of them. One of my favorite old tools is an 1804 bit brace. All wood and brass. In mint condition. Love the video.😊

Another great restoration! I like the brass along the bottom and the ‘buttons’ on the handle and the back! I have just restored a Stanley Bailey plane which my uncle gave to me, he was a carpenter all his working life, I finished it in ‘racing green’ and polished the sides to 5,000 grit! Like a photo?
