Who would have thunk that 37 years after playing this game religiously that I’d be watching it on a device that fits in my pocket. Time is a strange thing.

I love the music in many of these events, especially the cliff diving and sumo wrestling. After cliff diving, if you stay in the water a while, the pelican flies away.

The music is great. I tried getting the pelican to fly away on the NES version, but I guess it only works on certain systems.

Gotta say I love the Monkey Island reference, hats off for that. :D Btw people who say gaming is antisocial should have seen my entire neighbourhood crammed up in our sofa taking turns playing this, laughing together, we LOVED this game. We never figured out logrolling or bullriding, so those we did just for fun, which actually just made everything even better.

This is way better than the Amiga/Atari ST versions, graphically and soundwise, as was the case with Wizball. Odd how technically-better machines produced worse ports, except for Head Over Heels, for example. I don't believe anybody can do more than 14 barrels in Barrel Jumping. Seems silly how you can select more than that.
@thriftweeds8 жыл бұрын
+Dan Warren (Forgottenretroworlds79) My record is 15 or 16 barrels on C64 and 16 barrels on DOS version, and there's also video in youtube where this guy Roland who jumps 18 barrels!!! It is the new world record! :D

I once got 99 points in diving but then my friend made 100 - it was probably maximum. If you really "tortured" the joystick, 220 kg was the best at weightlifting. But 255 (max) was impossible. Could not even get it to chest level. Love the music on diving level!

Thanks for compliments and i think i did good for not playing this game for 30 years after, but today now on real C64 maxi i got much better results than this old play, i can liftweight over 225kg snatch 75 jerk, jump over 16-17 barrels but still do mistakes time to time, but you gotta re try, 100 points from cliff diving and right timing, not that bad, but still log rollin', bullriding: not good at them.

Ich habe es sehr genossen mir die alten Spiele anzusehen. Es ist sehr interessant sich ein bischen mit der Geschichte der Videospiele auseinanderzusetzen. I enjoyed it very much to see these old games. It is quite interesting to get a deeper insight of the history of video games. In particular the animations are nice. It is just remarkable what a handful of sprites consisting of very few pixels are capable of conveying. The cartoonish humourous style of the animations is particularly pleasent. The idea with the shark fin and the log of wood hammering on the poor guy's head for 3 times are just effervescent with charme and playfulness. They show that those games were made to be just plain fun and one would play those games just in order to see all the nice ideas they had for those animations. Daumen hoch - Thumbs up for this video
