AMEN. Thank you for another inspirational video. While it is scary at times when we look at the world at large, there is so much beauty amongst it that gets lost. I am more than happy to evangelise the Franciscan cause, and St Francis. May the peace of God and St Francis keep us all grounded and connected to the true meaning of his teaching.

I enjoyed that. I need to catch up on the channel. But when I saw the desert scenery, I had to watch. I'm from AZ and have lived here in the desert most of my life. I love this time of the year. My family travels to Mexico annually to celebrate the feast of St Francis. I remember as a child waking up extra early to get ready. I loved it. It was a religious journey we took. As part of this journey, we learned to be patient, to understand, to be courteous, to be humble, to look forward never look back and so many others things. This was passed down from generation to generation. However, last year my nephew fell ill to cancer. We couldn't leave him, so we skipped Mexico. In November, he lost the battle. This year it's my brother. He's been in and out of the hospital. We agreed he shouldn't travel. So again we skipped Mexico. I look forward to next year. Happy Feast of Saint Francis 🙏🏽 Tfs ✌🏽

It can be hard to feel connected when you feel different but as the Scriptures say "There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus" Gal 3:28 (Also I apologise for using the King James version here. It's the only Bible I have.)

You comments are very good, accurate, right on genuine Franciscan take on who St Francis is and his devotion to the Eucharist, Christ in the incarnation and god’s role in creation and francis’ loyalty to the Church. As an old, old fart catholic I have been following your comments for hints of variations, extensions, gratuitous takes on Franciscan spirituality. Today’s mention of “ incarnational world. View” etc really shows rather sophisticated understanding. I do not want you to get too prideful. I can see you have good spiritual direction and instructors. Us old guys have been watching very carefully.

gorgerous scenary your so blessed to experience this its amazing your message I been thinking of this exactly on how to connect all these friends I have met lately with different faiths if the incarnation message is preached it would connect everyone with a relatable understanding and the truth for how can we say the creations of the world are astounding but then not recognise the Creator of it? I been looking at these things lately as I enjoy the wind blow the fall leaves or the clouds hovering over the hills and saying to the hills isn't our creator amazing? It is the Spirit so thank you that you say it right here thank you Brother for just promoting how to go about uniting differences and bringing others back to the true way of joy and peace thru Christ Jesus and the St Francis way woohoo lol

A Brotherhood of Franciscans in LA was running low on funds, so they decided to remedy this problem by selling flowers. They went down to Hollywood and set up in front of the filming of The Greatest Showman. Because they were in the way of the crew, security tried to get them to leave, but the Brothers explained their situation to plead for them to stay. Hearing the commotion in front of the set, the star of the movie himself came out, talked with the men, and decided to donate some money if they agreed to go, which they did. This shows that only Hugh can prevent florist Friars.

To be fair, there is not much of a “life of the church” for people to connect to. I think this is very easy for religious to miss because you live in some kind of formalized, institutional Catholicism 24/7. I on the other hand have to create every facet of our family’s catholic life from the ground up. I can bring my kids to Mass but the truth is that we’re not really welcome in the Church, it’s not like our home, it’s more like an impersonal trip to a McDonalds drive through window. If you want to lay down your life and live humbly, why not take care of children? That’s a community of humility. Perhaps knowing your place actually is the humble path you’re missing? I’m thinking out loud here.

I agree that Franciscans need a renewal. PLEASE, do as Saint Francis did, and help the meekest of the meek - the animals. In today's world, the magnitude of animal abuse is beyond understanding. Animal agriculture contributes more than 50% to atmospheric pollution, and yet, the Church, the Franciscans, have not addressed this abuse in any meaningful way. St. Francis is the patron saint for animals and the environment. His love and compassion were ALL-INCLUSIVE. He said:" All things of creation are children of the Father and thus brothers of man... God wants us to help animals, if they need help. Every creature in distress has the same right to be protected." He is known for having rescued sheep from slaughter.
@Matthew-mq6fz6 жыл бұрын
Susan Christiansz I'd call the 'meekest of the meek' the unborn, and especially unborn babies with conditions such as Downs Syndrome, who are aborted at a horrific rate in progressive, enlightened places like Western Europe and the USA. But hey, I get what you're saying anyway.

St. Francis never intended Franciscans to be ordained and celibate, but somehow the hierarchy of the Catholic church managed to monopolize this order.
@BreakingInTheHabit6 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure where you heard this, but I have to disagree. St. Francis started by founding an order of penitent men. It was, but it's very nature, celibate, and priests were among the first to join. The rule itself (both early and later) include regulations for clerics but also overall rules for all members, meaning that St. Francis accepted priests but did not require them all to be priests (or to let that be their complete identity.) There was definitely some influence on the hierarchical Church to include certain formula (poverty, chastity, and obedience), to require a novitiate, and to maintain orthodox Catholic theology, but the Church didn't do anything to require celibacy or ordination.
@stephenfratello7246 жыл бұрын
@@BreakingInTheHabit Right. So now we have an order in which you must be ordained and take formal vows to be in the Franciscan order. Unless you join the lay order.... Or the ecumenical order. Somewhere along the way the church decided, as you have stated, that one must take the traditional vows of the church in order to be ordained in it (the Franciscan order). There are many reputable and reliable sources out there that state this was never Saint Francis's intention. I can post them here or send them to you if you wish.
@BreakingInTheHabit6 жыл бұрын
Stephen Fratello No, this is not correct. One does not need to be ordained to be a Franciscan. Many members are neither priests nor deacons but live as lay brothers, equal in all things but orders in the community. This has not changed since Francis’ time.
@stephenfratello7246 жыл бұрын
@@BreakingInTheHabit I I think you might be misunderstanding me. I understand what you're saying. I discerned with the franciscans and ultimately I join the ecumenical Order of Saint Francis because I felt that was most in line with his original intent and Mission. I do not feel that celibacy or anything else should be pushed or forced on someone or even just required in any of the orders of Saint Francis or even in the church. If someone chooses to be celibate because they feel that is best for them for whatever reason that's their choice however it should not be mandatory. Neither should ordination. The order should just be an order of simplicity and an order that ministers to the poor and the needy of the world. To me that is the only requirement that needs to be fulfilled is a desire to live simply and to help others in need. The rest is just a bunch of frills and distractions and in some cases feeds into people's neuroses.
@stephenfratello7246 жыл бұрын
@@BreakingInTheHabit if you are in the Southwest right now maybe you can swing by the center for action and contemplation founded by your brother father Richard Rohr who has many wonderful and interesting insights on this.
