My metal (Ti) Lynskey Helix OS with all mechanical Dura-Ace rim brake 9100 is 7.6kg with its fast wheels on (DT240 hub/DT Aerolite spokes,/Advance composites 40mm rims) , including bottle cages (King Cage Ti) and Time Xpro 10 (cro-moly spindle) pedals. Aluminium (Fizik) bar, stem & seatpost. It even has a Brooks C13 saddle to boat anchor it some more. But do I weigh 90kg (only ever down to 84 at my thinnest), so any more weight savings are irrelevant. & I can ride it (slowly-ish) for 150km without significant pain, or worry when I go over every bit of rough pavement. Having a bike that is 10% of your body weight is a good thing to aim for, as a wise old cyclist once told me, and I've cleared that hurdle with daylight beneath me. Heck, even my wet weather/commuter bike scrapes over it. & our man Oleg don't look like no Yates brother. But then he is a self-confessed weight weenie. To what purpose, it must be wondered.

The internally routed cables really makes this build look clean. I question the brake rotor choice, however. Why use dual piston calipers but then use rotors that have almost no metal for the brakes to do their job? Otherwise, sweet build.
@TwistedWheels Жыл бұрын
Hope dual piston with alloy backing brake pads are actually lighter than Sram Red and offer more power and this actually allows me to use superlight rotors. Otherwise wouldn’t use them with Sram brake callipers.
@buster.keaton Жыл бұрын
@@TwistedWheels My comment was in reference to the rotors having nearly no metal on them. The metal acts as a heat sync. If the heat can't be dissipated, you run the risk of your brakes failing at the worst possible time (like on a mountain descent). If you ride on mostly flat areas, this won't matter much, but better calipers are only as good as the rotors that are also part of the system.
@TwistedWheels Жыл бұрын
@@buster.keaton yeah, I understand. No issues with these rotors and brake performance so far. Using the same on my gravel bike and my XC bike (160mm size), and I’ve just done a TransAlp race on these rotors with no issues at all. I wouldn’t use them with “weak” brake callipers though.

A shame there is not one good shot of that computer mount, no info on the stem, the rims and the fact Ollie hasn't heard of Garburuk! I reckon I have to check Oleg's channel... Instead of the scale, I would have like a short riding impression. Oleg's concept for this bike is almost exactly how I am thinking of building my next bike. Small changes I would do is a 1-piece cockpit (that ofcourse has to fit!), a more comfy saddle and 'real' pedals with a more stable platform. I've had titanium speedplays and after a while they start to allow your feet to angle compared to horizontal, which is very bad for the knees.
@TwistedWheels Жыл бұрын
It’s an Extralite stem and computer mount. I have details with all weights in the video on my channel. Btw, I’ve been riding speedplays for over 7 years now with zero issues and the reason I like them is actually because they are easy on my knees :)
@slowcyclist4324 Жыл бұрын
