Not long before this video went into production I'd actually been streaming my *first ever* playthrough of Banjo-Kazooie on my Twitch channel over at www.twitch.tv/nocturnalfudj, though I had to put it on the backburner for a while to prioritise this video and some other important irl stuff. With this video out of the way - I reckon I'll be returning to it in the coming days. I'm apparently coming up to the level everyone hates pretty soon (Rusty Bucket Bay?) so it should be great entertainment value, stay tuned to my Twitter or KZbin community posts for updates on when I'll be going live next. Hey! Videos like this sure are exhausting to make and - frankly, often not a good return investment! However you're able to - I'd really really appreciate that if you enjoyed this video, you do whatever you can to share it around and help it get rolling and gain some publicity. I put a ton of work into everything from script to editing to even just conceptualising how this would differ from The Deview and what would make it more "viable" so to speak. Twitter, Discord, friends, KZbin, however you do it, know that I'm super grateful

i think about the idea of limitations breeding creativity all the time now since you first mentioned it on your channel a while back, and it's really neat to see that concept play out all over the place. i can't stop seeing it now haha. and i think it's cool that you're trying to embody that in your own work here too. i also love that you keep making what you enjoy, even if it doesn't "do well" in terms of capitalistic societal success. focusing on doing what we love is a radical act in a world that tries to keep us from doing anything that isn't "productive," and it's admirable and inspiring to see you keeping at it. thanks

And as somebody wondering how to present myself when I decide to make serious content, this has given me a little more inspiration. This channel has helped me mentally in many ways. Also, I don't like Donkey Kong, I dont have any connection and cannot connect with the SNES games, but Tropical Freeze is one of the most epic games I have ever played

Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze is easily my favorite game of all time. Not just because it’s such a beautifully crafted platformer with my favorite primate in media, but it helped me overcome the death of my grandpa. It was the sequel to DKC Returns, which he got for me when I was a kid, I LOVED Returns so much. It clicked with me on so many levels. Then in January 2013 my grandpa suddenly passed. It was the first death of a family member that I was super close to. It led me down a spiral of depression, just as a 5th grader. Not to mention I moved the summer after that. I came into middle school, a shy, depressed new kid that no one knew. I never followed game announcements, so I had no idea TF was revealed until I saw a TV ad in January 2014. A sequel to one of my favorite games at the time. I was loving the game as expected, but the final world, DK Island, in a sad, broken state, and familiar locations from Returns being destroyed really just resonated with me. Idk how to describe it, but it was deep for 11 or 12 year old me. Even now I get a little emotional, especially on the 1st and 6th level of that world

that little "Quiff" is in fact part of donkey kong's skull. In the cartoon his head is shaved and the quiff is fleshy. in superstar saga you fight skeletons that are the same species as DK and they also have that quiff. so in fact that part of DK's head is in fact bone and not hair. now you can't unsee it.

God this was blummin' good, never before has someone so succinctly defined what's so subtly uncomfortable about Donkey Kong just being a massive fuck off ape with a smile on his chops and a variably sized arse Loads of standout moments in this, the camel and string analogy applies, but ludonarrative dissonance, well if Diddy Kong didn't get much here, then stupid monkey being one of the best characters in Smash 4 alongside time manipulating witch and oversized sword super soldier man, that was pretty dissonant

I don't know why you keep on calling these reviews bad because you don't use the words good or bad, when in actuality these are some of the best game reviews I've ever seen on youtube since you actually allow the viewer to come to their own conclusion on whether or not to buy the game instead of using incredibly blanket terms like saying they're good or bad which has caused me to nearly miss out on some of my favorite games.

Yeah, this video was completely different from what I was expecting. I was expecting this guy to talk about how bad that GameSpot review was, and how wrong it's opinions were. I've never watched a video of yours before. I thoroughly enjoyed your thoughts on this game I've never played, but not because it enticed me to play through it myself or satisfied my boredom. It made me want to look at games in a more thoughtful way, and to rely much less on letter grades and scores to convey quality in forms of art.
