The people who made this game must of been in contact with Kazuki Takahashi himself cause theres stuff in this game that doesn't appear until the final arc of the manga, which didn't see publication in Japan until 2003. There's also stuff from the battle city arc which didn't see publication until the year 2000 after this game came out.

I like how he had so much to say about the game, and didn't even have to touch on the final boss...es. Six duels in a row. No saves. All of them have at least one 3k+ monster. So not only do you need to make twinheaded thunder dragon, you need to drop some equips on it too, otherwise it'll get run over by a dark magician, or a metalzoa, or a gate guardian, or a fucking *blue eyes ultimate dragon.* Also one of the final 6 has Exodia and can rarely drop it on you. There's a clip of it happening in a speedrun.

He said he never finished it, because it got too hard. I remember how me and my brother beat it, when we were kids. Get 2 memory cards, make new saves and trade the best cards to 1 save, until you have your thunder dragon line up, but more importantly: 3x Raigeki and 3x Black Hole Later on you can farm the instant kill trap (forgot it's name) if you want to, but even without, this is legit the setup to beat the whole game

Obviously, this ruins how settled I was, and as such me and my dad decide to, after watching Muppets Christmas Carol, to play this game for an hour or so while I waited for my Mam to get back. Both times against Darknite, he wasn’t an issue at all for me.

The GBA game "Yugioh The Scared Cards" uses a touched up version of this version of Yugioh. I think it delivers the Yugioh but Anime video game vibe much better. It's the battle city arc, makes cards much cheaper and easier to get, drops the fusion system from Forbidden Memories, and adds in tributes. In addition to allowing you to set (and use) spells and traps even if you summon on your turn. Edit: Also switches guardian stars for type advantage. No matter what, if you attack a monster with type advantage it dies. Even if you're attacked in defense mode and have type advantage, or have less attack.

I recently played through this game just to see how my 6th grade memories of it held up You can easily finish it in under 3 hours, if you activated a cheat code to unlock a bunch of cards early, which not only trivializes the fusion mechanics but it also showcases how restrictive the game is due to the one card limit What's even funnier is that these same developers made a second YGO game on PS2 I think, which is a SRPG/VN hybrid which mixes YGO with the War of the Roses and is also incredibly unbalanced, cheap and yes the fusion mechanic is present there In fact your deck is chosen based on whatever name you choose to start and depending on it you can even softlock yourself by just not having the necessary cards to make the monsters that are needed to beat the opponents

I'm not sure if anyone else said it, but the only mistake I saw was saying MBD can't beat Gate Guardian. To beat Gate Guardian with no equips using MBD, you just have to switch MBD's guardian star to sun instead of mars. This will give you +500 on MBD with sun against Gate Guardian since his guardian star is moon. At that point MBD will go up to 4000 atk killing Gate Guardian at his embarrassing 3750 atk. One other thing that I don't know if it was a joke or not, saying Gate Guardian basically ignores traps. He ignores Acid Trap Hole because it only destroys monsters with 3000 or less atk. Widespread ruin actually destroys all monsters including Gate Guardian. Otherwise great video and sorry for the unnecessary paragraph lol

I’ve revisited this game too many times. Twin-Headed Thunder Dragon is basically the only reasonable strategy unless you’re willing to grind for Meteor B. Dragon and load up your deck with equips to power it up. If GameShark isn’t an option, there’s a cloning trick you can do, but requires 3 memory cards. Just buy or win a card once and you can have 3 in 5 mins. It’s the “easiest” way to beat the game, but THTD is probably quicker with just more resets.

I just finished this last month. I played a lot as a kid and didn't have a PS1 memory card so I always had to start over lol. I think Mai is the furthest I got. I tried to play via emulator years later but didn't finish. This last attempt, I finally finished it. I farmed two Meteor Black Dragons, got them at about 180 wins, which is actually pretty lucky. I then gave up farming and ended up cloning my cards. I farmed for single copies of Dark Magician, Skull Knight, Red-Eyes Black Dragon and cloned them, Raigeki too. Meteor Dragon I used to fuse Red-Eyes to make more Meteor Black Dragons. Other than that, just equip spells and field spells and thunders/dragons to make Twin Headed Thunder Dragon. It was hard but I managed to do it. Also if you take out all of the mages before going to Seto, it becomes 7 in a row in the end instead of 6. How annoying. Also I want to point out I never had a single trap card drop for me. They apparently make getting S-Tec ranks easier but I didn't get to try. Pro tip: Meteor Black Dragon in Sun guardian star beats Gate Guardian. To fight Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon, you better hope you get some dragon treasures and salamandras or something for Meteor Black Dragon.

@@tyaty Oh, I didn't know that. Still, my comment was more about decks centered around summoning monsters from the Thunder Dragon archtype. One would think the first such deck to ever exist is the Thunder Dragons deck with Colossus and company, but in reality, the decks from Forbidden Memories are the first such decks (with a focus on summoning monsters of the Thunder Dragon series), since apparently turbo-ing Twin-Headed Thunder Dragon is the most optimal strategy in that game.

I was only able to beat this game through a combination of a max star chip cheat via Codebreaker and two memory cards. Why two memory cards you may ask? You were only able to redeem the code for each card once per save. The one time I tried to beat the game legitimately I got to the sage, was owned at the warrior temple, and said f**k this game. ::edit:: Something funny/infuriating I remember about the manual is that it said you would win my having all five pieces of Exodia (as I assume it just copy/pasted the rules from the actual game). I could never figure out how to make Exodia work. I had all five pieces in hand. I tried fusing them in multiple ways from hand. I even managed to have all five pieces on the field at the same time against one of the weakest characters (I believe it was ancient Teah) and still nothing.

Here are the things that tell this game is just a piece of shit. 1. The opinion menu is not not a option menu it only has stereo and mono options and that’s it 2. There are choices in the Champaign that force you to do one thing only. 3. There is a card shop but you cannot buy any cards at all. 4. Lose one campaign duel and it’s game over. 5. Cards that cost 999999 starships on the password screen. 6. Getting all the cards in the game is literally impossible. 7. The enemy opponents use the strongest cards they have on turn 1. 8. You beat the game and get a code that gives you nothing. Nothing! And lastly game can freeze easily when you chose to view some 3d battles. This game is just full of shocking things and Konami is all to blame for it plus this pocket station as well would be needed for obtaining the impossible cards. All these issues have been left in the dust with this game and developers don’t care. Omg I only wish yugioh got rebooted to another game company just so they could make a better version based on this game. If you agree well with me leave a comment below

lovely video as always. i'm not entirely sure i have more of an understanding of how yu-gi-oh works now than i did before, but i don't think that was the point anyway. i have been entertained for 24 minutes and twelve seconds. i think that was the point. maybe.

Now I need a draconic pet that happens to have twice the amount of heads of a normal one and tends to have an affinity with the lightning element

I have basically been following you for a year now. It is still criminal that your videos get so little views. Cheers from Maracaibo, Venezuela. If you ever come visit i'll buy you a Tequeyoyo. Look it up, it's nasty!

This game has such an oldschool style of grinding that you really have to experience it to believe it. recommend trying the game using the 5-card drop mod. (Also comes in 10/15 card) alleviate

I remember playing matches endlessly as a kid to try to get the 999,999 chips required to buy the Blue-Eyes White Dragon. What frustrating game design lol.

How many chips would you get per duel?

Acid trap hole specifically states that it only works on monsters with 3000 or LESS atk gate gaurdian being at 3750 is therefore unaffected you would need widespread ruin a trap that drops from Isis or S-tec Pegasus you can also gain raigeki a spell that wipes your opponents field either from your starting deck if you didn't get dark hole or from S-tec shadi you can also boost thtd above gate gaurdians if you boost him with the umi field spell before buffing him with an equip also you can gain Megamorph from S-tec peggy as well which boost any monster by 1000 atk points instantly getting a twin headed thunder pen15 over a gate gaurdians and gets a meteor B to par with the blue eyes ultimate dragon if boosted further with any other equipment than you can beat the final 6 of doom and gloom pain
