Honestly, as much of a hassle as manhandling 30kg of body mass would be, having a dog shaped ragdoll instead of a dog shaped air raid siren that loves boxing is much preffered. Reminds me of our old family cockerspaniel. She was the sweetest old lady, but even after years of trying different approaches she never accepted grooming as a part of her lufe and it was aleays a 3 person job - 1 person to mind her head, catch bites, and continuously feed small quantities of treats, one person working as a body vice to keep as many of her legs on ground as possible, and the last person doing the grooming. Simple hooks and leashes on a frame stopped working years ago. I swear, that dog...

Now, hes an old man dog with arthritis and such, so being manhandled at all makes him freak tf out. my boss (i work at the boarding kennel he now gets groomed at) told me they were worried he was gonna have a heart attack and couldnt continue grooming him, at one point. He's utterly flooded with panic, which is distressing to see. I know it was hard on the groomer, but she has the foresight of being a human that understands what going on - he doesn't. Yes, the owners should've trained him well, desensitized him ect- why wasn't he given any kind of medicine to help with his anxiety prior? It just feels cruel. No. If you look at a few comments here, you will see that other Malamute owners say Nico acts exactly like their dog. What are the odds that their dog just happens to act exactly like Nico? Did these dogs have the same groomer? Sorry, but a lot of it is innate. Certain breeds have certain characteristics. For example, German Shepherds act like loons at the groomer. Huskies sing the song of their people and freak out, a lot like Malamutes. I could go on, but breed has a lot to do with temperament. You may like to think you are totally in control and have trained angel dogs, but you probably like a certain breed that doesn't act this way, or you got lucky. I learned this after thinking I had trained my black labs to be wonderful angels and I housetrained them all within a few weeks tops. Then I got a papillon. She was SO STUBBORN about house training. I never gave up. It took one entire year to train her not to go in the house. She had to be watched 24/7 and be behind gates when not within eyeshot. She was quick too. It was a test of will. One whole year later and she finally learned. She finally told me she had to go out. And I learned...little dogs are very hard to housetrain. I never judged another person for not having a perfectly housetrained dog again. Little dogs also protest with their teeth when you do something to them that they dont like, btw. I was shocked. I know now that breed has a lot to do with temperament and I wasn't the expert on training dog angels I thought I was. Black labs are just born angels. 😊

@@mygirldarby You wrote a whole essay....but it still comes down to the fact that this Malamute needs training. They are a stubborn breed, but they can still be well behaved if the owners take socialization, training and desensitization seriously when the dog is young. No breed should be acting like this - this dog has obviously never learned patience or how to deal with situations it doesn't really like. I doubt this dog listens to commands it doesn't want to do.....and thats a problem. Like children, dogs need discipline - this behavior isn't cute once the dog is full grown. NTM without the muzzle, it could have bitten her multiple times in this video.

What I've learnt from this channel: every week someone else is handling my puppy without me i the room. He's getting his feet and legs touched every day until he's fine with it. I don't have a puppy but have been theoretically training all my 35 years. Before I watched your videos I thought I'd be fine with socialising here and there, but seeing a dog like this makes me understand how important it is to teach your dog that discomfort/displeasure is no excuse to whine or misbehave. Huskies being cats, they don't count cause I'll never get one living in the city of couse. But my first dog will definitely behave better than this or I'll never show my face again
@sonia-lu2rn7 ай бұрын
Famous last words! Huskies are great but need lots of exercise especially running and they need their brains worked out loads. It is possible to have one in the city. We run ours on the bike and hope to have him pulling a kick sled next year. He has a big attitude and a permanent side-eye so of course we adore him.

Well everyone does have different budgets for pets. Every dog is different to o degrees of personality. And also there's "groomer deserts " in some areas , where the service just isn't available in that city. I wouldn't be so quick to judge. At the end of the day we don't know the owners .

@reaganbutler1577 You probably are right because everything seems to be freaking him out, but sometimes I feel dogs do just react poorly to certain things. My brothers dog freaks out if someone touches his nails. Everything else is fine washing and drying his feet. Trimming the fir. Grabing his ears or tail. Messing with his food. Hes chill. Touch his nails though and he panics. He doesn't get aggressive but just trys to run away. He only lets my brother trim them. Yes he has had it done since he was a puppy at home, and at groomers or/and vet.
