Definitely a hard list to make, FromSoft really know how to do cinematography. Can't wait to tackle the phase transition cutscenes next, seeing as they're often the most hype!

Lol I legit forgot Seathe even had a cutscene. DS3 and ER had some peak cutscenes.

bosses i wished had an intro cutscene more than the folding screen monkeys and the mt gelmir bridge -dragon god rematch -rellana twin moon knight -romina saint of the bud -darklurker -amygdala (maybe bayle or midir but they work well without it)

Great Video! I think a new subject would be to talk about the best non cinematic boss intro. In that regard I can't praise enough Pontiff Sulyvahn or the Burnt Ivory King, I would love a video about this subject!

Rennala's opening cutscene was definitely very memorable for me personally. Actually, it was one of the most memorable cutscenes in the entire game. Idk why, probably because I didn't expect anything like that at all.

I see it as a "by default" worst than an actually bad one. On replaying I realized in both cutscenes she doesn't even pay attention to us so the Tarnished fighting her just feels cruel.

I like the Seath intro because it follows the forced loss. Going from a forced loss to the villain angrily and desperately rushing towards you instead of the other way around. It feels satisfying as he actually feels threatened by your actions. It’s not massively awesome, but the base game didn’t have a huge amount of intro cutscenes so it didn’t really have much competition. Least favourite is Quelaag for the reasons you mentioned. Long, slow and uninteresting.

I actually like Alant seeming like this old guy who doesnt know or care about who you are, only to then juxtapose that with him summoning his blade and shouting in rage. Hits the vibe of regal megalomanic indifference and I think that fits well.

The problem for me with Seath the Scaleless cutscene is the fact we already meet him for the must lose fight. Like there really is no surprise factor. Just hey, you finally want to show up and fight fair.

Honestly Morgott, the Omen King was so much more forgettable. He spends most of the cutscene just listing the names of other bosses you may have fought.

Have to disagree just because of his liens of dialogue at the end of the cut scene was always the most memorable to me

Alright, I’m going to make an argument for Rennala. Her intro, while not portraying her as powerful, does accurately portray the state of affairs for the House of Carian. The quiet creates a sense of unease to send chills up your spine. The androgenous child dressed in scholar’s robes smiling at the player is more than a little unnerving providing tension as we don’t yet know what is happening. Then the Carian Queen drifts down bathed in an eerie glow as she speaks nonsense to represent the madness which has taken her in her grief. We aren’t facing the greatest mage to ever grace The Lands Between, we are forced to commit more harm to a broken woman who grieves the life she lost. The fight isn’t a triumph, it’s a tragedy. The only repose we get from the misery is Ranni’s glimmer allowing us to conquer the Queen without slaying this poor woman while still gaining a piece of the Elden Ring. This cutscene is one of my favorites because of the way it uses atmosphere and a fear of the unknown to convey Rennala’s tragedy to the player as effectively as Shakespeare conveyed the tragic state of the Lady Macbeth as she cries “Out, out damned spot! Out I say!”

Hot take but moon presence opening cutscene was disappointing due to the difficulty of the boss proceeding it and that would take my pick imo but great list nonetheless!

how is there a bad cutscenes? In a game where every cutsene is a rarity I take every single one 🤷♀️

I feel like the DeS remake was a downgrade in a lot of aspects. Why is Old King Allance just some dude and why is his music no longer on pipe organ? The OG version could easily be played at a classical consert as a "lesser known baroque piece" and nobody would know it's contemporary. Why is the Penetrator's sword red? I could swear it used to be blue.

Cuz “creepy” = gross, “better music” = more instruments and entire orchestras, and last but not least, “My (Bluepoint’s) vision of the game is better than their (Fromsoft + Miyazaki’s) vision”.

a crime to name Micolashn, and feels like a backlash from his gameplay: the "kos or some say kosm" is a favorite line quoted by the entire Soft community! Martyr Logarius doesn't do anything but stand up...

Big miss with Rennala
@cecefuss15 минут бұрын
Hard disagree on Rennala, I think it's one of the best in the game. A rare miss for you. One that really suffers on repeat playthroughs is Godrick. All it really has going for it the first time around is the badass element, so once you know he's actually just a bit of a Fredo Corleone loser it doesn't even have that.
