I swear that Jason has like the opposite hitboxes of banana guard where banana guards hit boxes are so big and so lingering that you could tiptoe on his head when he's doing his side special and get hit meanwhile Jason could literally stab you in the chest and you wouldn't feel it

It confuses me how instead of a giant ball of dust, it could have been a medium-sized tornado. That way people can actually get an idea where the hitbox is supposed to be while staying true to the source material.

Style over substance I guess, besides he has another special that is a tornado. I think it just needs better clarity in the edges of it, and increase the hurtbox because for the life of me you just can't hurt him in that mode

I’ve found out the hard way about Taz’s Dust Ball hit box: The outer edges act as wind boxes, which pulls enemies into the middle where the actual hit box resides The hurt box on the other hand is the entire blob itself

The least they could do is a secondary darker colour that matches the hitbox of that move It’s a cool idea but not for a regular attack or would work so much better as a super move or final smash similar to wario man

Not to mention his up special lasts FOREVER! I was clinging on to a wall, my opponent did Taz’s up special and even I just did not know the timing because this was my first time fighting against Taz.

Honestly the move should probably be changed to just be a regular looking-ish swiping command grab animation, and if it hits it makes a dust cloud before spitting the opponent out. And then the whole dust cloud can be a hitbox with no hurtbox to hurt opposing teammates in doubles. I know Taz already has a command grab, but this would have different utility in doubles, and the inability to hit Taz during the dust cloud hitbox would be balanced by the fact that you have to hit a (presumably difficult) command grab to activate it. (Also, isn’t that how the dust cloud works in the cartoons ? He starts attacking something, and THEN he becomes a dust cloud?)

As a Taz main you understand that has his weaknesses everybody's moves has priority over Taz. You can punch him all this tornado or just hit him with a projectile. Almost everybody has priority over Taz

Taz up special hitbox is supposed to be the entire blob. It's so obvious? You wait the move out for it's cooldown or poke Taz with a projectile out of it, it's that simple... and Finn can also hold a running charge attac. The sandwich is not gamebreaking on Taz. Stop senselessly hating on my boy !

The ai will even spam those moves, you can't get behind them, they don't break from above, and yhey last for a solid minute as they cover the entire field, this is particularly annyoying if you need to ring them out on the bottom of the ring, you finally get them over the dge go in for the down strike, and twister. The one that annoys me is the inconsistency with Jason's Invulnerability window on his side special, so many times it gets broken on full turns that's the damage window

Can't do much against it besides hope he miss or throw something at him A lot of mv issues came from it being a 2v2 game but everyone want to play it like a 1v1 game. People want to pretend that the characters are balance for 1v1 and pretend it’s a skill issue if you can’t beat a character

Tax needs the charged up special because he's got NO other good way to put a TASTY status on opponents. That's his ONLY saving grace to getting it started. All the other ways to do it are just bad.

I've beaten every one of those characters high tier players and low tier, you literally can't beat a godlike Tazz player you barely can beat a mid level Tazz who knows how to dodge all you have to do is spam tornado and dust cloud in rotation don't believe me go do it yourself and see if I'm lying, doesn't matter if the player is a god or not you pick Tazz against any one of those cheesers and you'll win easily

The up special can't be fixed, because there's nothing TO fix. Where is the hitbox? The cloud. The entire cloud. Where is the hurtbox? The center of the cloud. It lasts forever? It has very limited mobility making it easily dodgable, requiring a read to land it. It's a good kill move, but has a lengthy cooldown so the Taz player needs to strategize when to use it or ends up wasting it. There's nothing like it in Smash? Sure there is. Wario's Waft is pretty similar. I don't know, seems pretty simple to me. What's wrong with it? I do agree about the Sandwich Up Attack though, that move is bullshit.

I don’t play this game very seriously, and I’m sure if I really grinded it out I’d get a feel for it, but as someone who’s played a lot of fighting games and have seen a LOT of bad hitbox/animation disparity, this move looks pretty egregious. You say the hitbox is the whole cloud, but is it actually? I’m legitimately curious, I can’t find frame data for this game. From a glance, it seems impossible to actually read. The cloud fluctuates in size, does the hitbox match that? There are also limbs occasionally extending out from it, are those also hitboxes? You say the middle of the cloud is the hurtbox, is that actually true? This is just a giant disjointed hitbox around a core hurtbox? Also, MockRock isn’t criticizing how good the move is, his core criticisms center around the design. The concept itself fundamentally creates visual ambiguity that impacts gameplay; he doesn’t like hard cooldowns as a balancing factor in FGs; and a cooldown doesn’t justify letting wonky animations through in the first place.

@@dc_dachi Ok, am I just going insane? I'm not trying to be snippy, I'm just genuinely concerned now that I might be the only one who feels like this move is ridiculously obvious, visually. If the cloud was much bigger, maybe, but it really isn't that much larger than Taz himself. Do the limbs pull you in, I dunno, but the whole design of the cloud is "don't touch the cloud" and they really don't extend that much further than it. Is this just a thing you need to have watched classic cartoons to understand? That cartoons fighting causes a big cloud of dust and other characters get sucked into if they touch it? What's the ambiguous part? The one thing I guess I can sorta see are the limbs, I just never considered that as part of the attack. Just a visual thing to replicate the old cartoons. They never really extend that far outwards away from the cloud so I feel like the approach of "don't touch the cloud" is all you really need to know to not approach it. I dunno, to me complaining that it's visually ambiguous feels like complaining that Sheik's Teleport dust cloud is ambiguous. She covers herself in dust, and yeah, you can't see her for a second of gameplay, but do you really need to to understand how the move works?

Tazz made me go back to T8 SF6 and MK1, Multiversus was in my rotation daily but not only is it getting kinda dry yet again like the beta did, its just goofy broken nonsense lmao I can win 10 matches in a row and lose to 1 Tazz mashing over and over and instantly I lose interest in the game they had a year and some change to make this game a proper package and still have glitches, infinites, and bugs running rampant around the game
