@@stealthelfboy i mean my autism has left me with an unneccessary amount of knowledge on the differance between seperate media formats, the life and times of kurt cobain and audrey hepburn and as well as an encyclopedic knowledge on the movies in my dvd collection. also the works of peter kropotkin. but i don't do hacking as coding scares me. too many forward slashes and numbers that don't need to be where numbers should. scares. good with the social stuff but the coding? nah. too much for me. i'll stick with having a vast and complex understanding of the functions of the human brain and it's relation to metaphysics. also writing unneccessarily long paragraphs on youtube. but i would happily hack north korea if i didn't want to visit there to try the kimchi.

The nintendo hack was actually pretty crazy. Nintendo is really stingy with their source code so it prevented a lot of advances in old games like sm64 and zelda and it helped the speedrunning community.

I suspect I'm in the minority, but I really feel like learning information from a hack cheapens the speedrun community. There's a certain beauty to all these people getting together to find and share strategies and advice they've gained through collective years of trial and error - if you can just crack the game open and find the exploits in the code, I feel like it really ruins the whole thing. Maybe I'm just old.

So I work in cybersecurity, SQL injection used to be SUPER common. Like back in 2014 it was a massive issue. Like this is taught in universities it is so old and was so commonplace. The fact that this is happening in 2022 is INSANE. I bet that most of vtech's security team and a couple developers got axed due to this. SQL injection is like the number one concern when setting up an SQL database. Im super surprised that this happened.

Most large companies CEO's have no computer literacy and find their IT tech departments to be money sinks. Since 90% of the day IT is preventing data breaches it gives the illusion of nothing happening, they find it a waste. So most IT ends up undervalued

PHP, the programming language most often associated with it, offers little protection against it out of the box, there's easy ways to protect against this with some newer built in functions but this hasn't always been the case and A LOT of websites suffered from this issue. An example of it is just as simple as putting ' OR 1=1 -- into an input field
