I still really like this game warts and all. It is a bit unpolished in areas, but it is still the same ol' classic Crash. I remember that route of crate-jumping with Coco over the water. I always had trouble with the depth perception when jumping away from the camera. Some of the platforming is tricky to determine how far you need to jump to land safely.

I think it's not as bad as people make it out to be. The problem is that its basic design is too reminiscent of Crash 3, and if you compare it to it, then yeah, you'll end up thinking it's very bad.

@@Clean.Eastwood Yeah, Wrath of Cortex isn't as good as Crash 3 (or even 2), but on its own, it is actually a decent game. It suffers from some technical and design issues, but I still found it fun. It is definitely better than many of the Crash games that came after this one! I'd love to see a remaster of this game using the N. Sane Trilogy engine that also fixes some of its inherent problems.

it took me so long to beat Pyro when i was younger because i would just constantly spray water, which slows you down so you cant catch him. i never realized it did slow you down so it took me so long to eventually beat him, and when i did i still didnt know what i did differently

I can't believe that nitro crate placement in the gem path. The nitro trigger comes before you take the path, so obviously you'll hit it as soon as you see it screwing yourself unknowingly.

Crunch would lend himself well to beat 'em up style gameplay. I imagine it like Crash of the Titans, but instead of platforming, do lift and throw puzzles like the Patrick sections of Battle for Bikini Bottom, and he can do wrestling moves to finish off enemies.

There are cool mods for Smash Ultimate by the way. there's one where they replace Dr Mario with Crash. and the other they replace the dog and duck from Duck Hunt with Spyro the Dragon and Sparx the Dragonfly

It's the camera's fault not the controls. The camera not following your horizontal movements makes it hard accurately hit crates.

Same, the controls for that buggy are horrendous. I always beat the race first, then go for the box gem, because it's practically impossible to achieve both in just one go.

Yeah, same here. I don't know how the devs thought this level would be fun. The Gem is such a headache to get since the controls are so slippery. It is really easy to miss a crate by accident and have to do it _all_ over again!

@@mattb6522 It makes it even worse because you can't turn the buggy around. If you miss a box, you might as well pause, go back to the warp room and try again. If Activision decides to bring this vehicle back, I hope and pray to Aku Aku that the controls are good.

@@toddhowze7273 Yeah, good point. I forgot that once you pass a crate, there is no going back. You have to do it all in one run. I'd rather Activision not bring this vehicle (or most of the vehicles in this game) back for an encore! 😅

You use the jeep only twice in this game, and the only issue is getting all the crates in that one racing stage with it, and the camera causes that problem.

@@MSCLeap75 It's definitely a lot easier in the first jeep level, because you have rhinos chasing you, and they'll break any of the boxes you missed (although you won't be getting the items inside of said boxes that way). But the racing level, it's my least favorite level in the series, along with the underwater levels in WoC (they're too slow paced, the mines are hard to avoid, and that submarine is slower than Gary the damn Snail).

Unpopular opinion i enjoy the wrath of cortex however its far from the best but i enjoyed it and smokey and the bandicoot is one of my favourites aside from the box gem cus it sucks.

Warp Room #4 is probably the most bland (and simultaneously frustrating) Warp Room in terms of the levels inside of it. The only good level in it was The Gauntlet, and half of that Copter Pack stage (the latter half when you're on foot). Coco has a ridiculously small and pathetic moveset, that race with the buggy's has arguably the worst vehicle controls in a Crash game, and the boss fight is too easy for my liking. If WoC has a low point, this is a good contender here.
