@@zagariasbooysen7401 I rented this game with my godfather when I was really young and for the life of us, we could NOT get passed that part. I played it via emulation like 2 years ago and beat the whole thing, funny enough I got it first try (not counting fucking it up on purpose to see what happens) and it ended up being liek the easiest part of the game lol

They do. I paid for and facilitated a private function which brought together four of the voice over actors from this video game. I questioned them at considerable length. It's all in aid of a PhD which I'm producing around this adaptation. It may even, after some editing, be worthy of publication as an article of general non-fiction; so fascinating are the stories, so varied the experiences. It will be THE final word in books surrounding the topic of video games - the absolute final word.

Wow, lot of work put into this review! Especially appreciate the music showcase, sounds proper magical, I'm gonna go look up the OST now) I actually remember playing a 2003 PC game called The Hobbit, thought this was it at first. Got fond (though few) memories of playing that one, never finished though. Might go back and play to completion, cause judging by the YT footage it actually might hold up, looks like a rather fun 3D adventure/exploration/platformer thingy.

Why is the ring even a gameplay mechanic at all? Didn't Gandalf specifically tell Frodo to never wear the ring because as soon as he put it on the Ringwraiths would know where he was and be on his ass instantly?

I'm glad you mentioned the music in a positive light, I've always been very intrigued by it, especially the stuff we hear in the Shire which is similar in some ways to Howard Shore's take but also has this unique, wonderfully tranquil vibe that you can only really get from game music. The composer Brad Spear is something of an enigma to me; other than some additional music for Lord of the Rings Online (which may have been just repurposed music from this and the unreleased Treason of Isengard game, since Vivendi was involved in the early development of LotRO) I don't think he ever had any other credits. Wonder whatever became of him.

The best part of this game is everything up to the Nazgul showing up. The Hobbit game is a whole lot better, funnily enough, if you ever give it a try. oh wow it's ANOTHER case of "different console, different game"

@@PhilOfGlimmer I would definitely say that the Vivendi Hobbit game is a lot stronger than their Fellowship game, at least the PC/PS2 version of Fellowhship I played on the Gamecube version of the Hobbit as a kid, and I believe there are differences between that and the other versions; lighting and models being one.

I played Fellowship of the Ring on Game Boy Advanced. Oh...just absolutely not fun. And then at one point during the Mines of Moria the game crashed when I went into a new area and I couldn't even finish the game.

We had the PC version growing up and had no idea our somewhat newly acquired Xbox disc has all sorts of additions. I remember the official game guide had some different visuals that were eventually cut completely, but that's it.

Thanks for doing this video. I always wondered what the PS2 version of this game was like (I had Two Towers and RotK for both the GBA and the PS2, but I never bothered picking up the PS2 version of FotR because the GBA version was so bad). In the GBA version, I remember there was a glitch in Moria where the game would freeze permanently when you walk through a particular doorway, preventing all further progress. Which is actually kind of perfect because the Two Towers game (which was developed by EA, an actual game company, and therefore wasn't filled with game breaking glitches) started at Moria anyway.

I finished this game in my one stitting. Hel i had so much fun playing this back in 2002. Also someone else had the rights and made this game based on the book itself. This is why the 2 Peter Jackson games does not have the title Fellowship of the Ring in them.

So this game is objectively pretty terrible. But it's amazing what nostalgia can do for a game. This was the first game I ever had on PC. I remember getting our home computer, and excitedly marching my mother down to WHSmith to get some PC games. I chose Chamber of Secrets, and this game. Unfortunately, this was back in the day where the boxes were displayed on the shelves, and it was up to the store assistant to go into the stockroom and make sure they found the right game for the box. I remember excitedly reading the PC manual for Chamber of Secrets on the way home, getting all giddy about the sorts of things I'd soon be getting up to at Hogwarts. But when we got home and I'd waited the two hours or whatever it took back then to install the game on PC, I discovered that the store assistant had accidentally given me, not Chamber of Secrets the PC game, but Chamber of Secrets LEGO Creator - possibly the most asinine and awful game to ever have been coded into existence. So I was left with this game, Fellowship of the Ring. And next to LEGO Creator, back in 2003, this was a thing of absolute beauty. Even although I've played it since and get that it has severe limitations, I'd probably still rate it among my favourite gaming experiences, purely because it took me away from the horrifying disappointment of expecting Chamber of Secrets on PC, and getting some awful LEGO Creator for 3 year olds.

Also, the Hobbit game? Has on of the best original soundtracks you can find for a Lord of the Rings related media And the forest in the book is as confusing as it is in the game. but the singing in this game for Tom Bombadil is awful, bfme2 Tom Bombadil was better

You should've looked up the story behind this game before making the video. This game was thrown together in 1 year, exclusively for Xbox and ported to PS2. Vivendi had the rights to make LotR games based on the book and were approached and offered the rights to make a LotR game based on the films which they turned down. Then PJ's The Fellowship of the Ring went on to be a huge success and EA already had the rights. EA didn't make a game based on the first film, opting to wait and see if it was a success which is why EA's game and Vivendi's games came out around the same date - just before the second film.

I really liked this game. (Only played on PC) It's the Fellowship of the Ring story so the story is good. I like the save file system (which is what Elder Scrolls uses) the graphics are dated but I didn't mind it. Was terrified by the ring wraths.

Can you do a youtube video on The Lord of the Rings Fellowship of the Rings on Gameboy Advance. To Phil Of Glimmer I have actually played The Lord of the Rings Fellowship of the Rings on PS2 and I actually enjoyed it. I was sad it ended on a cliffhanger and we never got to see The Two Towers storyline or Return of the King. I wanted to see the Scouring of the Shire which we still never got to see in any Lord of the Rings video games. Anyways there's one Lord of the Rings game I dislike so much and that's The Lord of the Rings Fellowship of the Rings on Gameboy Advance. That was the worst crummy Gameboy Advance game of all time, it looks like a rushed beta game even way worse than Superman 64, Bubsy 3D. The game design was awful, the fixed encounter turned based system was almost impossible to beat enemies since you often missed. The character is slow. The items are buggy in Rivendell, you get lost too easily, there's too much fetch quests to deal with. The worst part about the game is the game breaking glitch with the Mines of Moria freezing when you try to enter another room, you can do a work around, I finished the game and it ended on a cliffhanger. I also played J.R.R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings, Vol. I on SNES and it was okay but the fetch quests weren't fun and it was boring wandering around the caves and was very tedious especially the Mines of Moria level and it ended on a cliffhanger. I wouldn't mind doing a rom hack on that SNES game and call it J.R.R. Tolkien's The Scouring of the Shire. Anyways please do a game review on The Lord of the Rings Fellowship of the Rings on Gameboy Advance because I think it's the worst Lord of the Rings game of all time.

The GBA version is unbelievable terrible. Basically everything it does is done in the worst possible way. It's probably the worst game I ever finished* *By finished I mean got to the mission critical door in Moria that causes the game to hard crash every time you walk through it.

and I always wondered why was the opening of this game not similar to the movie where we see the three else and the seven dwarves and the nine men who all got their rings and show the fight at the slopes of Mount Doom between Isildur and Sauron and their armies and how Isildur cute the Ring from Sauron hand and how he took it as his own then got killed by Sauron forces and lost the ring in the river and how Gollum found it when he was handsome young Smeagol or show Gandalf arriving at the Shire Earlier to attend Bilbo Birthday and show Bilbo putting on the Ring in the middle of his party?? and I thought The Shre looked very good I just hope that the upcoming Lord Of The Rings Game about Gollum's point of view will look ten times better than this.

Also something els but about that Kong game from last year i still wonder why they never remade Peter Jackson's King Kong. It is coming on to 20 years next year. Now that is still one of the best movie games ever made. I still have it on my 360.we did not neet that Kong from last year. Hell that feels more like a little Ape then Kong.

kinda ironic as a kid I always wanted to play this game but didn't have the money has Xbox and PS2 and a crappy windows 95. 25 years later I have the money and it's cheaper to buy thos gam and I have a DVD rom desktop since it was never released on Steam. still hope to play it, but there is already another Hobbiton game called Aragon quest spending most of your time listening to Voice overs of Viggo Mortensen and Sam Wise gamgi lol there also a Hobbit game based in Hobbit looks like animal crossing even though it's a switch game it's coming to PC 😬
