Beyond basic maintenance, (oil changes, tires, brakes, etc.) I have yet to have a day’s trouble out of this vehicle. I fully expect to get 300,000 miles of it. My 2016 GC summit in 16 months own ownership with less than 30k on the clock has needed a headlight due to one LED in DRL turning blue. Cant buy it in own so new headlight required. (nearly $3000 here in UK for one, actual £2500 fitted) and a wing mirror due to another LED failing on the indicator (nearly $2000 in UK fitted, actual £1400). I love the car but when the warranty expires it is going. When I asked jeep why parts are so expensive they said it was a luxury brand...my ar$e it is, good car but I wouldn't say a luxury marque personally. My next car will be a range rover, I know it will break but parts are substantially easier to get in UK and therefore cheaper.

We bought a Grand Cherokee in 2015 and it has been absolutely perfect. Aside from the stupid shift lever which was corrected in more recent years. This truck feels nimble yet supple. The 3.6 ltr V6 purrs like a kitten. Average 22 mpg mixed driving. I believe this suv is the best bang for the money available today. I've only owned Japanese cars since I started driving. I own a Honda S2000 and a Honda Accord. This SUV in my opinion ranks right up there in terms of reliability for us at least. Your mileage may vary ;-)

@@richl4489 thats exactly what i am looking at, the 3.6. i'll be stepping up from my 2010 escape which other than fender rust has actually been a good vehicle to me. I have been looking at a bunch of different things but I keep coming back to the Grand Cherokee, recently I was researching the Acura RDX But we get a lot of snow and I find it's more geared towards being a sports car than an suv, so I think I will pass on that. I try to take these videos with a grain of salt. Reliability of vehicles can heavily depend on where they were built, I own a Peugeot 208 and it's been perfect for me. Great on petrol and fairly nippy, had pretty much no issues since I bought it, but Peugeot is regularly slated on these videos as bad vehicles. Sometimes just depends on luck of the draw.

Hey Scotty! I'm brazilian and I'd like to talk a little bit about the Jeeps made onver here, in Brazil: they are a piece of junk not because they are made in Brazil, but because the company (Fiat Chrysler) only makes pieces of junk! See, the first Honda Civic's that were made in Brazil, a few years back, were the second in built quality in the world, "loosing" only for the ones made in Japan. Love your videos. A beautiful SUV... however: a NIGHTMARE to own! Must admit though: of the six years that I've owned this unpredictable SUV, the past year has been fun. I had a grand cherokee, then bought a commander new in 2008, and am still driving it with 225 k miles on it...with original motor, tranny, etc. Still feels like new and has been my most reliable vehicle ever, and btw I had a great experience with my 4.7 Grand Cherokee limited, sold it at 130k miles. I just put a 2.25 inch lift about 5k miles ago, and have plans to have many 4x4 trips in it. Just took it to the Colorado Rockies over Immogene pass and it was awesome. Will be doing Moab Utah soon. In it's younger years I pulled a 24 foot Jayco trailer with it...7200lbs towing capacity. It's been incredible...and has an awesome quadra drive II system...essentially works like locking differentials in low range. Love it and all true off road worthy Jeeps.

For what it's worth - my opinion is .... the WK is very practical, it's my trusty XJ replacement, and I've had 3 of those in the past. 16 years later my WK is my longest ever owned vehicle I've driven on a daily basis. With minimal drama or failures, it has never let me down, or left me stranded or even needed a tow truck (yet). All potential repairs are preceded by a subtle noise/clunk warning or an OBD2 code, so you at least can get it fixed before the event occurs. Nothing like preventative maintenance.

I get that leasing leaves you with nothing at the end, but there's a pro there too. You're in a new car so you know everything about its actual history. You don't have to deal with maintenance other than the normal oil and tire replacement. You don't have to worry about going out of warranty. And you don't have to worry about being under water value-wise at the end of the lease. With cars being a depreciating value liability, you're rarely going to come out ahead on a purchased vehicle anyways that's daily driven. And most people simply don't know enough to accurately figure what a vehicles history actually means to figure if they're getting a good deal. Like a lot of other things, "perceived" value is a big part of it.

We had a 2005 highlander, it was a borderline lemon. Power locks failing, oil leaks, severe misfiring which took Toyota one month to figure out it was the crankshaft position sensor. In the meantime they changed plugs, O2 sensors, and both catalytic converters. I was disappointed, we got a Honda Pilot now, it’s good.

My 2018 Jeep Compass is used as a work vehicle for my Contracting Company. It has roof racks and a tow hitch. It is a 4wd Latitude with 53,000 miles and has been great.

I had a 2000 Jeep GC v8 that lasted for over 20 yrs. It was rust that killed it. In all those year, I had an a/c problem once, the front seat needed to be re-bolted in and I blew the calipurs (sp?). I now have a 2019 Jeep Cherokee v6 and I love it. No problems so far.

I disagree with Jeep Grand cherokee... I just put 190,000 on my jeep, long drives and commutes daily. 2.5 on average. N habe only had to replace a water pump, belt, battery, belt, and my alternator just went up. All 15 min fixes and besides the alternator, which was 400$ every part was cheap.

Just got my 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee on 11/27/2021. I know it's still early but, I love it and the people I know who have older models say, they run great. I think it's up to the person to take care of they vehicles. Because watching all his videos about cars, will keep you on the bus while he's driving🤣🤣🤣🤣

@@adamogden5212 Very hardy SUV and reliable !! I have a request if you are in contact with representatives of a Jeep, then tell them for Russia they made the most reliable jeep! There is one Jeep Grand Cherokee in 2013 with a 3.6 engine, it has a mileage of almost 800,000 thousand kilometers or 497,096,954 thousand miles !! Not a problem except a broken gearbox !!

He's not wrong about the Jeep Compass. My daughter bought a 2012 against my advice, and it's left her stranded 3 times. I've had to work on it and repair it more than any vehicle I've ever owned. My Toyota Highlander on the other hand, requires very little maintenance, and has made me a big fan of Toyota/Lexus.

I guessed that I am one of the stupid people, owned a Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland V6 for 10 years and had 245,000 miles on it. Drove around the US to all national parks, circle the US 6 times, went to many Jeep trails, and only spent money on an oil change every 10,000 miles, spark plug twice at 100,000 each, spark plug wires twice, drive belt twice each at every 100,000. Got an offer for resale of $8,000 and I refused to sell because this is the only SUV that I had that sooo good... Still use to go on Colorado trails and Utah trail. The best SUV that I ever have.
