My 2016 GC summit in 16 months own ownership with less than 30k on the clock has needed a headlight due to one LED in DRL turning blue. Cant buy it in own so new headlight required. (nearly $3000 here in UK for one, actual £2500 fitted) and a wing mirror due to another LED failing on the indicator (nearly $2000 in UK fitted, actual £1400). I love the car but when the warranty expires it is going. When I asked jeep why parts are so expensive they said it was a luxury brand...my ar$e it is, good car but I wouldn't say a luxury marque personally. We bought a Grand Cherokee in 2015 and it has been absolutely perfect. Aside from the stupid shift lever which was corrected in more recent years. This truck feels nimble yet supple. The 3.6 ltr V6 purrs like a kitten. Average 22 mpg mixed driving. I believe this suv is the best bang for the money available today. I've only owned Japanese cars since I started driving. I own a Honda S2000 and a Honda Accord. This SUV in my opinion ranks right up there in terms of reliability for us at least. Your mileage may vary ;-)

I have been looking at a bunch of different things but I keep coming back to the Grand Cherokee, recently I was researching the Acura RDX But we get a lot of snow and I find it's more geared towards being a sports car than an suv, so I think I will pass on that. I try to take these videos with a grain of salt. Reliability of vehicles can heavily depend on where they were built, I own a Peugeot 208 and it's been perfect for me. Great on petrol and fairly nippy, had pretty much no issues since I bought it, but Peugeot is regularly slated on these videos as bad vehicles. Sometimes just depends on luck of the draw.

I got my 2014 jeep grand Cherokee from a dealer in Toronto [Ontario Canada]... Downsview Chrysler TOTALLY the WORST brand NEW car I've EVER owned! Multiple MULTIPLE recalls! Had to change the transmission after JUST 30,000 km 😱 The dealer was a nightmare: I've changed dealers since. This was supposed to be my dream car that turned up to be a TOTAL NIGHTMARE! A beautiful SUV... however: a NIGHTMARE to own! Must admit though: of the six years that I've owned this unpredictable SUV, the past year has been fun. But@a cost of having to deal with a HORRIBLE dealer and an SUV that was @the dealer EVERY 3 months!!! The last time I'll buy a Chrysler ... too bad though: love LOVE the look of the GRAND Cherokee!

It's only 5 years old, give it time. Can't hide the fact it's a Fiat under all that sheet metal. My Jeep was only 6 years old when the hemi's plastic hose broke and overheated the engine. Gauge didn't even show the heat as the coolant left the engine so fast. $6500 repair bill. Under 60k miles. A Fiat is a Fiat is a Fiat. Hopefully you don't own that thing!

Except maybe a Jeep Commander 5.7 Hemi Overland for a family vehicle that tows, 4X4's, and hauls 7 passengers. I had a grand cherokee, then bought a commander new in 2008, and am still driving it with 225 k miles on it...with original motor, tranny, etc. Still feels like new and has been my most reliable vehicle ever, and btw I had a great experience with my 4.7 Grand Cherokee limited, sold it at 130k miles. I just put a 2.25 inch lift about 5k miles ago, and have plans to have many 4x4 trips in it. Just took it to the Colorado Rockies over Immogene pass and it was awesome. Will be doing Moab Utah soon. In it's younger years I pulled a 24 foot Jayco trailer with it...7200lbs towing capacity. It's been incredible...and has an awesome quadra drive II system...essentially works like locking differentials in low range. Love it and all true off road worthy Jeeps.

For what it's worth - my opinion is .... the WK is very practical, it's my trusty XJ replacement, and I've had 3 of those in the past. 16 years later my WK is my longest ever owned vehicle I've driven on a daily basis. With minimal drama or failures, it has never let me down, or left me stranded or even needed a tow truck (yet). All potential repairs are preceded by a subtle noise/clunk warning or an OBD2 code, so you at least can get it fixed before the event occurs. Nothing like preventative maintenance.

I get that leasing leaves you with nothing at the end, but there's a pro there too. You're in a new car so you know everything about its actual history. You don't have to deal with maintenance other than the normal oil and tire replacement. You don't have to worry about going out of warranty. And you don't have to worry about being under water value-wise at the end of the lease. With cars being a depreciating value liability, you're rarely going to come out ahead on a purchased vehicle anyways that's daily driven. And most people simply don't know enough to accurately figure what a vehicles history actually means to figure if they're getting a good deal. Like a lot of other things, "perceived" value is a big part of it.
