You know what's funny? The R33 GTS-T that i had, had this little metal wire clip near the bottom of the cup holder that you could flip up to get it out of the way, or flip down so smaller cups would fit more snug, but i don't see it in your R33, so i wonder if or when that got lost in yours. It's just a tiny piece of metal wire, maybe a tiny bit thicker than a paperclip. Not that that clip would save the cupholder test, but it is a tiny detail about the car that i noticed and it might've actually helped a little bit. XD

The wheels it came with really suit it, aside from the missing centre cap. Maybe it needs some Garson Deep Racings to go with the new cup holder though.

I can see Carplay on a nice double din unit coming, new speakers (maybe a sub?) , interior lighting with LEDs , coilovers, wheels. I just hope it will not end up too unicorn poop - rainbow - glitter looking. I like the approach you have on this build so far . Yay !

Damn those RC2's are nice, and they have that 90s asthetic to them that suits it so well. I went for some R34 GT-R V-spec II replica seats, bc I wanted reclinables as well to replace the OEM but didnt want "Drift Spec" Bride Stradias. I ended up doing a NGK Neo Chrome dished wheel with Alcantara and a Black NRG 2.8 Quick Release with the NRG Short hub....like to keep it fair clean 👌👌 I think ya need to swap out that silver tape deck headunit for something more modern. You could do a single unit with a floating 10" screen like the Sony AX8000, or you could go something double din to take up the whole space like a Pioneer Z5350BT. I did a double din Pioneer with some Rockford Fostgate 6.5" in the front and rear, and put a reversing camera in just above the license plate (It's tapped into the reverse lights just to the left of the trunk latch for the signal wire). Also a USB PD charger for the AC power (lighter socket) would be a good idea to for charging your phone, tablet, etc...I got an AuKey CC-A3 which sits flush inside the power socket, so it makes it cleaner and less noticable. I have Defi Boost & Oil Pressure gauges mounted on the A-Pillar, and the Defi Link Control Unit fits in nicely just above the headunit inside the dash.

That bulge in the cup holder is because there's an insert that goes in there. It offers 2 sizes depending whether it's upside down or normal side up ✌️

That's a great purple on those seats. :) (I don't see terribly much stuff that's different-without-being-flashy. (Also I'm digging the all-white look with that body kit. ) Also the stock wheel looks like a good candidate for a sew-on leather wrap, after removing the trashed stuff, if you'd wanted to keep it. Takes maybe an afternoon, those, but good for the duration. :)

The pop out cup holder in my 350z got stuck so I just use a Chick-fil-A drink carrier for large drinks and a Taco Bell holder for small drinks both can fit behind the passenger seat when not using👍🏻

I think you're missing the little black metal wire clip that pops out to stabilize drinks in cans etc. Down in Australia we love our square carton drinks so this was accidentally the perfect shape for down under.

I drove a r33 for years and don't recall this problem. Although it was a 4door and I do recall a difference in the center consoles.. from memory the sedan was a better cup holder and the coupe had a better cubby hole
