Lochdown was good. The trios chemistry has improved to be near what it once was in top gear days. If they can keep heading that direction the next specials should way surpass the ones we have had so far. ( Not that they were bad).

I solo bicycled Land's End to John O'Groats one Summer and one of the main Scottish features they failed to mention on this Grand Tour are the fucking midges and black flies which infiltrate every orifice, lick your eyeballs, buzz in your ears, and bite your scalp whenever you stop cycling or slow down enough for them to catch up. Northern Scotland has gorgeous almost mythically beautiful scenery in Summer, but man those swarms of biting insects are quite the PITA. Only upside is it kept me cycling fast enough to outrun the little bastards, so I did the 1200 miles in two weeks.

Really shame because it did not have the energy and challenges of the past special episodes, before Grand Tour, its almost like the producers wont make it happen because they are afraid its gonna hurt viewership or either that they are all getting old. They used to mess about way more in the older specials, also the journeys felt longer because the editing was way better, now its just jumping across everywhere, like its skipping stuff just because its too boring, I mean if its boring it means the stuff they are doing gotta change.

In terms of versatility, Hammond's ability to crash a motored vehicle is second to none. He managed to roll ever a jet powered dragster to 1200 hp electric hypercar to 2 hp boat and survived. That's almost insurance fraud level.
