I typed in 'Egypt drone laws' and the first thing that comes up from a site called UAV Systems international is 'Egypt prohibits the use and trade of drones.' By many accounts, Egypt is a bit of shit place to visit as a tourist, but it's not like they're hiding their drone laws. Bit of prior googling would seem to have solved this issue.
@ChuckieMcHaggis11 ай бұрын
@@kitt7477 It's heavily restricted for locals, and without a permit, punishable by law. Locals just ignore the laws. However, they don't turn up at the local police station and start showing them off, which is in effect what foreign tourists are doing when they pitch up at customs with a drone.

We were on a world trip at the time. We understood the drone would be confiscated however that process went a lot worse than expected. We were treated like terrorists & even got accused of drug trafficking. Entry to Egypt was probably the worst part of the trip. Although we did have some other issues along the way, Luxor & Hurghada went a lot smoother.

@@caroandcharlyeI was subjected to unnecessary search by angry blk employee in Philadelphia airport he looked me upside down and took my bags and searched completely while saying g horrible comments so what comes are goes around
@ItsJG30310 ай бұрын
Just got back to from Egypt a couple of weeks ago. My first day in Egypt my experience was horrible!!! The same thing happened to me at the airport. But luckily I didn’t have to wait as long as you two. Security looked at my passport, then turned around speaking to his coworker in Arabic and said “AMERICAN”. Then they took my bags and started aggressively questioning me about my seat cushion, over the counter medicine, my iPod etc… They Made a complete mess with my items. Then I got scammed by my Uber driver and he tried to get more money out of me. He started screaming at me claiming that I have to pay him extra because he had to pay for tolls. But I didn’t give him the money I just walked out of the car… Then my last day at the airport security looked at my passport and said “”Ahh American! Step in this special line”” he took me to an empty line and took my bags to put them through the scanner. Then he whispers to me and says “”Let me have some money” I said no.. but other than that I had a good time in Egypt. Edit : I’ve been to many countries and was never asked to pay out of pocket for tolls using Uber until I went to Egypt. And the other uber drivers in Egypt never asked me for toll money when we went through the tolls. The guy from the airport was the only one that asked for extra cash. Also he asked to see my phone to “supposedly” ask if I was in the correct Uber. While the phone is still in my hand, he scrolled and said “ahh yes you’re in the correct uber!” But what he actually did was cancel my ride on my phone without my knowledge. Which cost me a cancellation fee. I realized he cancelled the ride midway through when I didn’t see car icon to my destination. Luckily I took a screenshot of the price before accepting the ride since many people in that country unfortunately Have a bad reputation for things like this. I didn’t get the cancellation fee back, but I reported him to Uber afterwards. And my Egyptian friends apologized for his behavior after I told them this story. And they told me not all Egyptians are like this… So Since nobody wants to do their research and only want to respond with emotions. I’ll leave this here to educate you with facts. (Source copied and pasted from Googles AI. Also read Ubers policy.) When taking an Uber in Egypt, you do not need to worry about paying tolls separately as they are automatically calculated and included in the price you see in the app, meaning the quoted fare already accounts for any tolls on your route; drivers are reimbursed for these tolls by Uber and should not ask you to pay them directly. *Checkmate*
@themeowzers937 ай бұрын
So now you realize that in certain countries in this world being American is not the most favorable thing? Welcome to reality! Also, tolls are usually not included in Uber fare, which needs to be paid separately, and you just walked out on the guy. Again, you showed with your actions why those who don't like Americans, even dislike more.

I agree with you. We have returned from Egypt - tension is the thing you feel all your trip. Tension from Egyptians from them looking onto a posh Money Bag tourist. We (unfortunately) had visited Cairo. I never saw so much powerty, diseases and dirt in my life. They rode us by a local hospital, where ill people are hanging from the staircases and trees to get their medicine; I saw a poor man take out a bloody bandaid from his vein right on that dirty street. Our "expensive tourist bus for Money Bags" almost run over 3 people. There are no traffic lights. I saw the dogs' eyes who beg you for food by the pyramids, they had the most Dostoyevsky-sad and depressed eyes begging for help. While the people around you DO realize you are a rich MONEY BAG and FORCE their sovenirs onto you Very Rudely. BUT... BUTTTT....The new National Museum of Egyptian Civilisation, where the mummies are stored is like a diamond... no wonder, it's built on Oil sales and Suez Channel money, but you can still feel that those "fakely posh" guards inside it return to their poor families each day after work (because of their attitude)/

I suggest " Zamalek, Downtown " or dokki . get something closer to more civilized area . its a 110 million population country . the area you stayed in which does have a good view to the pyramids but thats it ,it comes with huge cost of almost slum like houses because it is a slums area . and alot of scammers and annoying sales people that live and strive on tourism. the pyramid is a day trip and thats it . not to live there . fourth I don't know if you are still there or not , but If you are still there I can write you list of things and places to see and dine in . finally . just like there are slums there are hotels that costs 20k USD per night . if you have any spare time at night before you sleep , watch other youtubers who visited there and try to quickly put together a plan for your trip .

I can say than some local business still have honest people, but they are a few. the government itself steals from you and discriminates against you, and you can see that when you are going to buy a ticket to the monuments: if you are local or from Arabic country you pay 4 dollars or less, if you are foreign they multiplay by 10 or more, it is published in their official tables at every monument entrance. I cant even imagine what would have happened had we tried to do everything on our own. I grammatically can't comprehend this comment. But if you're trying to justify a 5 hour hold up for a drone, there's no argument here.

Better attitude would be a very positive thing to consider. You are not at home and at the mercy of the local laws and regulations as well as local customs.

I went to Egypt a week ago, and while packing my bag, I decided not to take any valuable items. I also had a DJI Mavic 2 drone, but I thought they might confiscate it at the gate, or if I flew it around Giza without permission, they could seize the drone and deport me from the country. Since I went with a private tour, everything was safe, but I didn't take my Sennheiser headphones or GoPro. If you're travelling by bus with a tour, make sure to bring headphones and load some good movies onto your phone or iPad in advance, because if you're going to Hurghada or Luxor by bus, you'll spend quite a bit of time on the road. Also, if you visit Giftun Island and go diving, make sure to bring your GoPro for underwater filming. But individual trips like the couple in the video made are really, really dangerous. I went to McDonald's across the street from my hotel to order food for my family in the hotel room, and immediately 2 or 3 child beggars clung to my legs. The hotel and McDonald's were only separated by a single street. Cairo is truly a very poor and dangerous city
