I think a dislike for tofu could have more to do with a person's racial and carnistic biases than the tofu. If somebody says tofu is "disgusting" they are probally racist and carnist. the majority of supplements in my country (Poland) are not vegan, I remember that even B12 supplements weren't so obvious a few years back (not sure how it is today cos I have my brand), not to mention D3 which is also essential it's improving, but it's probably stuff like vcaps becoming cheap and a huge trend of "natural" stuff i.e. if they release a series targeted at younger / more health conscious people, you'll get the entire line-up of "organic" "bio" "natural" "gluten-free" and "vegan" while we're at it, but vegans themselves clearly aren't the main target

Meat eaters have got us all calling plant based meats "protein alternatives". I mean, they're a source of protein, fibre and other nutrients. Why are they alternatives. They're made from beans or soy or wheat. All of which contain high protein or have a significant amount. So they're not "alternative proteins" but rather just "proteins." It's said as if eating flesh meat must be the default, and if you choose to eat something different then you're replacing the meat with an alternative...instead of just having food. "If you're not eating meat then you're not eating properly". It's infuriating.

When it comes down to it this was simply stating the power of the majority. Most people eat meat therefore meat is morally justifiable. When I was young most people smoked cigarettes so they felt entitled to smoke in the office, restaurant, and even in my car when a passenger. Most people smoke therefore my right to smoke anywhere trumps your discomfort. Also when I was young people felt empowered to be casually (or even explicitly) racist with ‘jokes’ generally being targeted at minorities. These examples demonstrate how the majority can, and often is, just wrong and I have seen the attitudes change but they only started to change once the majority became non smokers or they objected to casual racism. Also a turning point for smoking was the role of second hand smoke. Suddenly it was understood to be harmful for babies and small children to inhale second hand smoke. The road to animal rights will be a tough one because vegans are such a small minority and because the harmful effects of eating meat will never be evident as it is with smoking. Empathy and altruism are still relatively rare in our species.

But, hypothetically speaking, if the ‘whole of society’ deemed any specific action as unethical then it would be by definition. I doubt the ‘whole society’ though could reach such a conclusion. In only really needs an outright majority though. A parent smoking in a car with a small child unharnessed in it is considered to be unethical and illegal today but that was how I travelled as a child in the 1960s. Ethics and morality aren’t fixed. As we learn more about the impacts of our actions society moves the ethical/moral/legal ‘goalposts’.

7:23 Duckweed has b12. There are natural vitamins. Livestock are supplemented too. Dairy milk is fortified. Many nonvegans are deficient, take vitamins, or eat junk food which is unnatural or deficient. Then pretend to care about health when it comes to veganism. If she is bothered by vitamins, what about medicine? People say animal products give nutrients but they also give things like high cholesterol, hormones, antibiotics, and disease. 3:56 How does she know if most people agree against veganism when many are deceived and hadn't been given the chance to know the truth about things like livestock being abused? Many people agreed with slavery too. Didn't make it right. People were able to change out of a world wide culture of slavery. Promoting veganism is not doomed. She was just biased. 4:33 When did she talk about that nonveganism was moral like she said she would? She only talked about self interest. Just being so self centered, especially in the face of injustice, was weak. 2:47 Even if veganism is hard, many nonvegans can make some efforts. Some nonvegans get into social justice issues that they think is important. So it's a choice. 6:39 Why do animals have to be used or useful to people? Why can't people just care for animals or the once livestock animals? Like how people care for pets or dogs in shelters. She said "care" when livestock are force bred and killed so young. One can say animals are more useful being alive and not killed too. 7:38 There has also been a long and wide culture of junk food. Does that make it healthy now? I trust modern science more then ancient people who did what they had to to survive. Also, BitesizeVegan has a video on vegans in history. 10:27 Well many Asians are able to like tofu. Vegans don't just eat tofu. I bet she didn't try a bunch of vegan foods yet. 14:02 her: "Or we leave them to die." She wants to kill the animals and at a very young age for food anyways. She was pretending to care about the animals. People force bred those animals. And force bred deformities that shouldn't exist. Like chickens and turkeys who can't support their weight, sheep who can't shed their wool, or flat face dogs with breathing problems. 2:30 Like LVL said, people were able change out of a culture of using a lot of horses for transportation. Horses are not overtaking people. 14:31 There are thousands of edible plants. It's farmers who want to feed animals the cheapest and same crops as possible to keep it cheap and easy.
