Thank you for coming back to the X-files! Now you are doing Supernatural too,👏

I'm glad that makes you happy, but just in case you didn't see my community post: neither show will be a weekly upload moving forward. I'm going to try a new format where I combine multiple episodes into a longer video and upload those roughly once a month. That way you guys still get the content, but it should help ease the workload on my end. :) EDIT- For clarity: I mean just the X Files and Supernatural will be moving to this new format. The other shows will continue to be weekly uploads. Not sure if that was clear. ;)

As far as I’m aware the younger Eves who actually were identical twins don’t have many roles after this point, most people today outside of the fandom would know them for being the sisters of Makeup KZbinr Tati Westbrook.

Thank you for this new X-Files reaction. I think what you said about Mulder and Max was spot on. I also agree with what you said regarding Scully's thoughts about Max being delusional. Even recently I have had experiences of medical professionals treating me as though I am delusional although I'm not - I just have PTSD, so I appreciate you mentioning that. I like this episode and although the creepy girls are good, my favourite thing is Mulder's floppy hair(!)

Glad you enjoyed the video! Yes, Mulder's hair is practically its own character, and I love it :D Sorry to hear about your experiences with your medical team. I actually had a form of PTSD when I was younger, so I'm familiar with the territory. It's bad enough to have to deal with your own body and emotions replaying your trauma without people treating you like that. . . particularly medical professionals who should 100% know better. I hope you find some better doctors, and take care in general! :)

This was the first X-Files episode i ever saw and it remains one of my favourites.

That's a pretty good intro to the series, then, because I enjoyed this episode quite a bit. I especially liked the guest star, the one who played Dr. Kendrick. Her monologue in the cell was quite affecting. I'm up to episode 13 next, and I'm really excited about it because I know it has Brad Dourif in it. I only know that because in the icon for the file, it's his face frozen in frame :D Dourif is such a great actor. I've only ever seen him in small supporting roles (excluding his voice work in the Chucky movies, I suppose) but he never fails to leave an impression!

I literally just finished watching the episode, and hoo boy, Dourif was magnetic! I kind of found it hard to commentate sometimes because he was just so intense that I was totally sucked in :D Great episode!

Well, to be fair Mulder isn't a medical doctor, so I wouldn't hold it against him that he didn't handle Max' seizure very well. As for Scully trying to explain things away by suggesting that Max is delusional, that doesn't strike me as particularly unlikely either. Of course, it's disappointing that specifically _Scully_ would say such a thing, but I am sure many within the medical field would do the same, being more ready to believe that it's all in Max' head than that he's been abducted by aliens. It's actually something that annoys me in real life; "explaining" away strange events by claiming that the person in question was in a state of psychosis, just because the experience doesn't correspond very well with one's personal worldview. I feel that a scientist in particular should try to maintain an open mind, but unfortunately far from everyone do. At least in the West, "psychosis" occasionally seems to be used as some convenient fallback diagnosis when there's no conventional explanation for a seemingly paranormal experience - including religious/spiritual ones, which doesn't always conform very well with the freedom of religion. The psychiatrist Thomas Szasz described the situation quite well: "If you talk to God, you are praying. If God talks to you, you have schizophrenia." As for _this_ episode, I think it's pretty OK. I'm more bothered than you by the kids' performances, though. The adult Eves were played by Harriet Sansom Harris, who also played the ruthless talent agent Bebe Glazer in "Frasier". One of my favourite characters in the show, actually. 😄

While it's true Mulder isn't a medical doctor, he's both highly educated and in law enforcement. He should 100% know first aid, and how to react to a seizure is part of that. The only reason he didn't is because the screenwriters didn't, which might be because first aid was different then, but it's more likely that they did not bother to do any research. I consider that lazy writing, and it is something that irks me greatly. And I agree while it's not unrealistic that someone, even a doctor, would be prejudicial about mental illness, it is disappointing coming from her specifically because otherwise she's fairly open-minded and reasonable. One of the things I really like about her character is that even though she doesn't often agree with Mulder's theories, she at least respects him as a person, and so respects what he believes even as she tries to debunk it. Out of curiosity, when you say you were more bothered by the girls' performances, do you mean you were bothered by the quality? Because I could understand that. I felt one of the girls was okayish, but the other was very wooden and flat. And I really did enjoy the performance by adult Eve, especially her monologue in the cell. She was unsettling but also sympathetic, which can be hard to pull off, but she did very well.

I thought the girls' performances were great.

@@zammmerjammer I liked their performances more after the reveal, but felt she was very expressionless most of the time before that, which could technically be explained away as trauma but seemed more like bad acting to me. If they hadn't creeped me out from jump due to the lack of emotion, the reveal would have had more punch.
