You and I have 💯% the same origin story when it comes to introduction to the X-men! I was in game stop and saw the cover of X-men legends 2 for PS2 and was like yo what's this?? My brothers and I exclusively played that game for months replaying and trying different characters then I went looking for the comics then went back to play again after knowing more bout everything and appreciating it more for all the little trivia and dialogs that made more sense now

It feels super weird, X-men were the biggest thing ever until Ultimate comics made the Avengers and Spider-Man cool again. Ultimate X-Men was not great and Civil War managed to make the Avengers cool in the mainline universe while the X-Men were having a hard time with extinction level event being more and more common for them until you didn't even knew were they fit in this rejuvenated Marvel universe. MCU was the last nail, we had to wait until Hickman's Krakoa and now this show to see how cool the X-Men still are if you put in the effort.
