After the only grocery store in Truman, Minn., closed earlier this year, 17-year-old Nick Graham bought and re-opened it to help save the struggling community. Steve Hartman reports.

Praise God! What an awesome and unselfish young man. I remember this story and saw an update. Sadly, this store closed like so have many in rural America. The article mentioned it couldn’t compete with the Walmart 19 minutes away.
@trunks9316 Жыл бұрын
So it was Walmart's fault? Were the Waltons awesome and unselfish when they opened their first store? And if their success made them so bad at what point would this kid's success have made him bad? Cus I'm pretty sure he would have gladly became the next Walmart had he been successful

um ya.. he sold the store. He also bought one in Armstrong, Iowa. He was unable to manage the product. Needed a little more education on what he was doing. Pretty sure he went to college though. So in theory he did something very good for a small town, but in the end inexperience and too little of education won.

I may sound like I'm hating, but did he use his parents' money to buy the Main Street Market? Seeing as he's 17 years old, the statement "I am not here to make a profit" doesn't hold water. There'd be no need for him to own the store if no money-making was involved.
